We stopped here for a drink and it was really cool. The staff was great and the drink were good! It was clean and inviting. I would definitely go back for another espresso martini!

My sister-in-law (SIL) and I stopped in for what we thought was Mocktail Mondays (according to the website). The bar has a very mellow and laid back atmosphere. I ordered a mock margarita, my SIL ordered an house old fashioned and a Pac-Man Crush. All drinks were good. Although I'm currently not drinking, I can tell by the menu and the knowledge of the bartender they are serious about their cocktails! Chandler, our bartender, was super attentive and warm. He even told us about an upcoming mocktail competition and what non alcoholic spirits he likes to use.

I was looking for a lowkey place to have some cocktails while finishing my online work. This place was fairly empty and had the right vibe. Low lit, hiphop playing. The bartender was laid back and super attentive. Rye has a small menu with drinks that are wildly different: drinks with whisky and sesame, sazerac, caramel, and absinthe. Sagamore, vermouth, maraschino, and bitters. I had the Pac-Man Crush (el dorado rum, mezcal, passion fruit, hibiscus, orgeat, red wine, fernet). The red wine wasn't as overpowering as I thought it would be. I had the Brooklyn Zoo, with sagamore rye, white vermouth, bigallet amaro, maraschino, and bitters. I had this one twice. Bartender recommendation. The My Wife is a Gangster wasn't my jam. Made with Tullamore Irish whiskey, saffron, pear and asian spice, islay whiskey, and sesame. The sesame turned me off. There were a couple of other drinks I had that aren't on the online menu that were good. Lots of herbs and fruit garnishes that came through fantastically. Coin operated boy: sazerac, rye, bitter orange, amaro, citrus, house caramel, and absinthe (the caramel wasn't overpowering). Welcome to the Johnsons: gin, blended apple gastrique, thyme, citrus. There are around eight drinks (minus beers and wells) and some basic bar food (pizzas, egg rolls, popcorn). But totally worth it because it's not crowded, it's quirky, and the bartender is mad badass. Also, they do have mocktail nights and an award winning cocktail class program. Seems like a great place to meet people and build community.

Crazy Fell's Point St Patrick's Day weekend! Had tickets for a show at The Port Comedy Club and my guest and I were seeking out something to eat. Bar crowds were out in the streets and we rambled on Thames and found Rye. A doorman greeted us similarly to what one may find on Bourbon Street, asked if they had "food". He replied affirmatively and we went in. We moved toward the "dining room" beyond the bar. Watch your step as there is one as you move through the threshold. Rye is dark, like a prohibition speakeasy with an extensive libation menu. I like this place. The "food" menu? Embarrassingly limited. Pizza and snack items. Music is loud. It doesn't have to be. Tough to communicate with your party and servers. Speaking of which, ours was kind and professional. I ordered a tasty Old Fashioned (don't ask for it smoked; it's a "fire hazard.") My friend ordered a hard cider. Food? Olives, Salami and cheese along with a four cheese pizza. Rye must have a one square foot kitchen. Pizza was either a frozen grocery store pie or a frozen crust topped in house. I think it was the former. It was also topped with arugula. Not mentioned on the menu but it got it anyway. The pizza tasted like a frozen grocery store pizza topped with arugula. It was edible. Same applies to the olives and charcuterie. Our experience was okay. I would return for cocktails, not for the food. I see potential, yet the house was packed and people were drinking and happy. I suppose that matters most.

The cocktails are first rate. Especially if you like rye whiskey! Also a good place for conversation, at least on a Saturday afternoon.

Great ambiance on chill Friday! We had a few food items, fries and the ribeye eggrolls. Both solid choices! Skinny fries if you like that! We had the "my wife is a gangster" and "pac-man crush" both also every tasty, boozy cocktails! We will be back to try to old fashioned!

I stopped by here after getting some ice cream in the area. The drinks are good and the bartender, Chandler, was nice and attentive. Our cocktails came out so beautiful.

I recently visited RYE and enjoyed my time! I tried their 'Proof in the Pudding' cocktail, which was a deliciously balanced spirit forward cocktail. It had a slight sweetness but was far from sugary--just the perfect treat. I can't wait to go back and explore more of their unique cocktails that you won't find at every bar. The ambience has dim lighting with a Prohibition era theme. This intimate space is perfect for a chill weeknight outing. If you want a more lively vibe, when there is a DJ. The service was attentive and timely. RYE is a spot worth visiting.

Rye is such a romantic, moody cocktail bar. Great first date spot or for catching up with a friend! The drinks are so unique- I enjoyed the Pink Pony Club so much. The Mule was VERY spicy- they don't mess around with their house made ginger beer! Spiciest I've ever had. The service can be a little slow with only a few people making all these nice drinks, but besides that it's a great experience!!

Stopped by at Rye for a quick drink before a show because I've been wanting to give this place a try! Definitely didn't disappoint!!! We tried the Pink Pony Club and Tell Me Nothing. Both excellent choices. Pink Pony Club is light and fruity, and really easy to drink. Tell Me Nothing is a little more creamy but not heavy! The drinks here are definitely more alcohol forward, but definitely delicious! The space is cute, and there's more seating toward the back. Bartender was super friendly and quick with our drinks as well! Can't wait to come here again soon!!

There aren't many cocktail bars around me but Rye is one of the very few. I remember it being better from my past experiences compared to this previous one. It is a good spot for a date night though. The dim lighting sets a nice tone for the evening but I did find the music way too loud. I felt like I was shouting at my partner the whole night who was just sitting across from me at the high top. When we arrived around 6pm on Saturday, it wasn't too packed but around 8-9pm, it did get more lively. I tried 3 different cocktails just to see how they all compared. My favorite was My Wife is a Gangster. It was light and refreshing. I wasn't a fan of the other 2 - Pimm's Cup and PAC-Man Crush. They both tasted pretty medicine/cough syrup like to me. My partner also really enjoyed only 1 out of the 3 he tried as well. We also shared their Margherita pizza which was ok. Apparently it's from Verde (which I do love their pizzas in general) but this was probably a frozen pizza they baked. It was really thin, had barely any basil, and the crust was a bit hard. Rye is a fun little cocktail bar but their drinks fell short and so did the food. The music is too loud to enjoy the company you're with for too long. Bartenders were fine and the ambience in general is nice but I prob won't be coming back anytime soon.

If you want a high level cocktail and a bartender who will perform that magic for you... This is definitely the spot. The drink was 9/10 giving me life as I needed it. The attention to detail with the drink and also attentiveness to us as being guest was amazing. I love the decor in the spot felt like night time even with the sun shining brighter than ever outside. Think only thing that thru me off was those darn chairs.. never got it to wind up to the right level when sitting at the bar. But other wise a great time!!

Loved the small feel of a dive bar with amazing cocktails. Both bartenders were super attentive and made our drinks perfectly. I cannot wait to visit again.

No bartender in sight, no other patrons, no background noise. For a moment, we genuinely wondered if we were in the right place. The bar is down a flight of stairs, tucked into the basement, and it's notable because it's Fells Point's only and possibly first basement bar, which already gives it serious character points. We waited near the bar for a few minutes, heard nothing, saw no one, and eventually started heading back up the stairs to leave. That's when Steve, the bartender, literally came after usnot in a weird way, but in a very human, "Hey! Sorry about that, I was in the stock room come back in!" way. And honestly? From that moment on, the experience completely flipped. Steve was phenomenal. Friendly, welcoming, deeply knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about the place. He's worked there for 18 years, and once we sat down, he turned the bar into a living history lesson. He shared stories about Fells Point, Baltimore, Edgar Allan Poe, the building itself, and all the ghost stories tied to the space. He also told us about the celebrities who've passed through, including the fun detail that Blake Shelton once sat in the very bar stool I was sitting in and ordered a Bullet bourbon. Naturally, that kind of trivia just adds to the charm. Drink-wise, I ordered an Angry Orchard, and my friend had a single Tito's with cranberry and soda water. Our total was $26.16, which feels pretty standard for Baltimore definitely not cheap, but not shocking either. The bar itself is small, intimate, and packed with atmosphere exposed brick, low ceilings, and that cozy, historic, slightly haunted vibe you hope for in a basement bar. It's also connected to The William Fell Inn hotel through a separate entrance, which makes it feel like a hidden secret rather than a tourist stop. We loved the history, the stories, the ghosts, the setting and especially Steve. Being the only patrons that night was actually a gift, because it let us really soak it all in. That said, we're absolutely planning to come back on a busy night to see how the energy shifts when it's full. If you love historic bars, good storytelling, and places that feel like they've seen things Anchor Bar is a must. ‍
