Actually, the "AMAZING!" negative review was from the way the phone (which by my own admission, we left in the cab) incident was handled. Now, I'm sure we weren't the first and won't be the last fare to leave belongings in a vehicle. I'd bet everyone would love to know you view them all as "screw ups" for a simple mistake. I also must be unaware of new technology... With every phone I've ever had, to recharge a dead battery actually requires it to be plugged in, or at minimum some human intervention to turn it on a receive the last couple percent. This whole fiasco could have been prevented by a 15 second phone call when the driver brought the phone in. "Hey, it's Walt's. Having a busy shift, but we found the phone, and will contact you when we slow down to arrange its return." Instead of coming away feeling like we're lucky the phone was retrieved before being jailbroken and sold, I would have left a review singing the praises of how upstanding your company was. As it was, the phone had been dead and off, then it located with a 19% charge - strongly implying it had been plugged in, and at the *very* least turned on. We had called to report it missing hours before the officer arrived, and had heard nothing... Perhaps when future "screw-ups" forget expensive items, they can be given the courtesy of a phone call? Responding to an honest review from the customers point of view the way you did? That makes you look like the idiot, not me. read more

Very unprofessional which is probably more of the reason he has poor ratings and slow business, NOT because rideshare is putting him out of business. I actually feel sorry for him because he is a hurt individual and well, "hurt people hurt people." I ended the conversation w/thank you. His reply came 10minutes later. DO NOT USE THIS CAB SERVICE. I called, they arrived when they said they would, the minivan was clean, smoke-free, and the driver was pleasant. It was a short ride, one that many of the other taxi services will dick you around with... Here, they said up front on the phone that there is a $10 minimum (its 3 miles, so probably $7 or 8 by mileage already) that would probably apply. Ride was $10. Save the hassle with the scam artists of Liberty and Yellow... Walt's seems much better. read more

We pre-scheduled Walt's Taxi Cab Service for a trip to the airport. I have had such poor luck with shuttles and taxis it was tough to trust that they would follow through. They were great. When I called to make the arrangements the person in the phone what polite and easy to understand. He even repeated the order back to me. They were not only on time, but a couple of minutes early :) The driver was kind and courteous and the van was well taken care of. We will definitely use this service again. read more

I told him I was in the back . He said why didn't you say that at first I told him that from the beginning . I tried to close the door and he says don't you see that handle I said yes he said use it then . After that I had no words to say to him I usually give tips to service providers but the only tip he for him is to learn to treat people the way he wants to be treated ! Wow. I called to ask about their estimated rate from point A to point B. If I were driving, I know that the trip mileage is approx 28 miles 1 way and max 30 minutes. The guy who answered asks me what I think it costs. (Why is he asking me this?) I said I don't know because I don't normally use taxies & that's why I am calling to find out. (Call me naive but really, it was an honest question, and I really wanted know.) He says what if I said it is $200 and I said that's nuts and chuckled. I thought he had to be kidding. Car is in the shop and I needed to get to UPS with an important letter. The other taxi service promised to pick me up by 6 and no word by 6:40. I call and they "didn't know when". An hour later finally got a call from someone 30 minutes away. Too late. Wasted day. Walt's, on the other hand picked me up the next day. I said I just had to be sometime after noon, was told they could do that, though they called and said it would be between 12:30 and 1, which was no problem (and so nice that they CALLED, that's the proper and courteous thing to do). Ride got there and back no problem. Clean vehicle and reasonable rate. Used them again then next day to take me out to get a rental. Again, on time and let me know up front what the fee would be. Same vehicle - nice, clean ride and reasonable rate. Will use again when I need taxi service in Dayton. read more

WOW! Mr. Walt you have outdone yourself once again! I had hoped that you would have taken my advice and try to reconcile with a dissatisfied customer, but instead you leave a message attempting to insult my character and intelligence. The comments that were made by my friends while in your cab were part of a joke. But regardless of the intent of those comments I must say it that your lack of indiscretion for what is said in your presence is less than comforting, especially when you post it on a social media site. If I were a doctor speaking with a patient on the phone or a corporate manager speaking with a potential client while in your cab, I wonder would you show them the same curtousy of impeding their right to privacy and discretion. The point of all of this is that I was unsatisfied with the manner in which you conducted buisness. I rated your service in an appropriate manner and instead of attempting to reconcile a negative situation, you turn it into an even more negative one. I researched taxi cab services on the Yelp app and several of options were available. I contacted the front desk of my hotel to find out which they recommended and they offered to contact you. As I said before we are not from the area and so I trusted their recommendation. If it makes you feel better to issue insults in my direction or try to demean my character then go ahead Sir! My driver Tommy seems like a good dude, very personable and friendly, and overall, a professional. I was told 2+ hours by two other cab companies in town to pick me up at Wright-Patt and drop off at the airport. Walt's told me 20 minutes and showed up 19 minutes later. Very clean car and courteous driver. Can't recommend them highly enough. Much better service than others in town. read more

I used Walt's taxi service before without any problems, which is why I decided to use them again when planning a party. I needed two vehicles for a scheduled pick up and drop-off time. I scheduled the times a little more than a week in advance. Ten minutes after my party was supposed to be picked up, I decided to call abs get an eta. I was told the drivers were behind and I would have to wait an additional 15 minutes for my scheduled vehicle. That may have been fine ad's I might have been willing to accept some kind of compensatory offer, except I had made dinner reservations for my large group. It was the reason I scheduled a pick-up time in the first place. The dispatcher apologized but I ended up calling Air City, who sent cars over to us right away. I think what upsets me most is that I had to call to find out where my scheduled cabs were. I don't understand how scheduled services fall that far behind. Maybe several vehicles broke down at once? I can only speculate as no explanation was offered. But even so, you know someone is expecting two vehicles to arrive to the a group to a specific appointment. Why would you not connect right away with your customer when you discovered the problem? That puts you in command of the situation rather than simply reacting. I was a little surprised that the dispatcher only apologized and didn't try to offset my inconvenience in any way, so I simply cancelled the cars and went with another company. This would be a one-star review except that I had one other experience with Walt's that met my expectations. read more

I called because the previous Yelp reviews indicated prompt and courteous service and about how easy it was to "pre-schedule" service. This was certainly not my experience. I just called to schedule a pick up from my home to a club downtown, and schedule a pick up from the club back to my home (at 2am). The gentleman who answered the phone sounded hesitant at first and said he has someone on the other line and would have to call me back. In less than 5 mins, he called me back and said he can't really pre-schedule service because "we never know where we're going to be". He then said if we wanted them to pick us up at the club at closing time (2 a.m.), I would have to pre-pay a minimum amount of $20!?!?! It's less than 4.5 miles from my house to the bar (and that's taking the longest route!)!! I just moved here from Baltimore, MD. I've taken cabs in Batlimore, DC, and Philly and have never heard of such a thing. I understand him wanting to do a prepay for a 2am bar pick up. But for twice what it would cost me if I had just called the cab when I was ready to go?? NO THANKS. Won't be calling these guys back. (I live in College Hill in a VERY nice neighborhood and we were headed to a gay bar tonight. Maybe he's just a little prejudice??) read more

I called earlier today to thank Walt's Taxi Cab Service personally for the great customer service provided by Diane, Tommy, Martin and Walt himself. I called for a 4:30 a.m. pickup in Xenia, Ohio so I could be at the hospital for a 6:30 p.m. for ankle surgery in Springfield, Ohio because I was unable to drive. Tommy was courteous, professional and patient when he explained the charges and billing. I called to confirm with Walt that a cab was on the way and soon after Diane picked me up promptly at 4:30 a.m. When I was finished with my surgery in the afternoon, I spoke with Martin, let him know I had used the service before and he helped me schedule pickup. Diane promptly picked me up in thirty minutes, made sure I got into the vehicle safely and made sure I was comfortable. I would strongly recommend Walt Cab Service. I wanted to say thank you again to Diane, Tommy, Martin and Walt for your great customer service. Additionally, I appreciate Diane being patient with me while I was on crutches, making sure I got into the cab safely and was comfortable. I had concerns about a few things. Called Walt's for an early morning ride to the airport, seeing this company is highly recommended by reviews. Was told I'd be called when the driver was on her way, but wasn't, which made me anxious. Then the driver was late because she went to the wrong house! The ride to the airport was fine, the car was clean and the driver friendly. I was surprised at the cost for the 20 minute ride and even more so when the driver didn't seem to know how to process a credit card payment. I ended up paying cash, which I didn't want to do, but didn't have a choice. Anyway, we made it, though next time I would make sure to get the price up-front and talk about method of payment.
