Mr Handyman Kirby - So happy to see the progress

    Mr Handyman Kirby

I desperately needed a handyman to support my move. Lorn came, saw, solved. Not the quickest, but…read morethat was not what he was hired for anyway. He was hired for precision and he delivered perfectly. I am very happy. I think the money that I spent was very well invested.

Amongst everyone contacted me, Kirby seemed more genuine and professional in the replies. Time went by with another artic freeze last December. Ok, time to revisit my request. I messaged Kirby on Yelp. He remembered our conversation and replied right away, as usual. After I sent him the pictures, he quickly replied with a quote. Then, he agreed to show up on my day off. My husband wanted me to fix the front door since the freeze we all endured over 10 years ago. I tried my DIY fix from foam patch to stuck some towels, to seal the seams with packing tape to adding a drape... Yaddi yadda. Ok. Time to call a professional. Because it's an exterior door, it has to be fiberglass door because steel door will conduct temperature from outside. Hot out hot in and cold out cold in. No lying. I researched before agreed to get it installed. Also, because of the door frame had been badly damaged with years of abuse from the weather, everything has to go. I was told by some carpenters who wanted to just replace out the bad piece of door frame with a piece of wood plank. No way, José. I was so glad that I refused to get another DIY person's work and getting charged for a professional price. According to Kirby, his Mr. Handyman Kirby business has been handed down from his grandfather to his father... for generations. Kirby specializes in doors, drywall repairs and other handyman's tasks. He was professional and polite. My neighbor came by to inquire about his business. I had to give them his card and information. He gave 100% of his attention to my project. That's very important. So, he won't get distracted and delay my project. I really appreciate his policy in taking care of his clients. Guess what, I'm going to enlarge his business card and tape it to my door. I want to tell all my neighbors who installed this beautiful door. Thanks, Kirby!

    JT Building and Renovations

I would advise, in the strongest language possible, against ever hiring JT Renovations. Our…read moreexperience has been extremely disappointing and costly. We had a very complex renovation with many steps, so we asked a lot of questions beforehand to make sure that the scope of the project was understood. Benny was extremely attentive at that time, touted his vast experience, and said he had his own dedicated crew who could complete the project in just a few weeks. Fast forward, and it is apparent he has either lied about many things or is just in way over his head as a contractor. The project dragged on for months with endless delays, excuses, and no clear timelines. The crew was constantly changing, unreliable, and often didn't show up at all. The work that was done was inconsistent, had to be redone on many occasions, and left unfinished at the end of the day. At the beginning, however, he worked very fast in order to extract more of the payments from us. Once we realized that, after materials we had purchased, we had paid the full amount of the project already but the work was only halfway done, he had completely vanished. Now he will not answer our calls or texts to save his life. Who knows what he is doing meanwhile, this entire year we have been trying to live in a house filled with unfinished work and broken promises. It has been so stressful for us and our kids to have to go through this. To add icing on the cake, he is using the pictures of our renovation without our consent to try and swindle more money out of unsuspecting customers. It is a very low blow and just adds to our suffering. I have kept holding out for the chance that he will do the decent and honest thing and either complete the work or return our last payment to make us whole. We do not have the budget to complete the work for now and will have to keep suffering. But it is apparent he is not honest in his dealings and I feel so gullible for falling for it. To sum it up, this has been stressful, expensive, and frustrating. I am very upset at the dishonesty and lack of accountability. We were misled and abandoned mid-project instead of dealing with a trustworthy professional. So please avoid this contractor! I would not want anyone else to go through the same expensive and heartbreaking experience.
