Cute diner type place where you order at the counter & they bring your food & drinks to you. The staff were all really friendly & helpful. They make your food to order. Which is really nice to know it's not just sitting around. We had the taco specials today--taco salad & beef quesadillas. It was great. They give you so much protein! The only thing was it had been busy right before we went in & a bunch of the tables were dirty. Other than that it was great. Minor inconvenience, but you could tell it wouldn't stay that way. My first visit was yesterday for lunch. My friend Jennie and I met their for lunch. Their location js kinda a middle meeting place for us. Jennie goes here quite often. Staff was very warm and friendly. Food reasonably priced. You order and pay first at the counter and then you go and sit down. Seem to have good coffee. The Raspberry cheesecake was yummy! The 3 large Chicken Tenders were hot and tasty! The coleslaw was tasty, but alittle dry. The Coke was good. We will definitely continue to meet there for our lunch dates in the future! read more

Without any disclaimer this restaurant charges for WATER.....REALLY? And 99cents per small cup. NEVER. We ordered the chili COLD and we sent it back twice. The country fried steak was fried crispy, very thin. The roll was cold and the vegetables were half water. I could have drank the water from the vegetables and saved 99 cents. The HS school girls do a good job here and everything was hot and cooked properly but keep in mind that things are taken out of the freezer and dropped directly into the fryer. Nothing is prepared. They seem to have a regular clientele and that is a good thing. They do have ice cream and they might do breakfast but I can't verify that. I'd come back. read more

We wanted to like this cute little Restaurant, had tried it a couple of years ago and was not impressed; but thought we would give it another chance. The broasted chicken tasted a little old, the fish sandwich definitely had a "fishy" taste. The onion rings were good although quite greasy. Ranch dressing and tartar sauce were way too sweet tasting. On the plus side, the server was very nice, service was quick; and the restaurant is nice & clean. I have often described Wana Cup as Amish Dairy Queen. They have fantastic ice cream creations, my favorite root beer EVER, and tasty food of the fried, burger and pizza variety. It's a great place for a quick meal or dessert when you don't have time for the Blue Gate or to head down the road to Middlebury. Look, Shipshewana is total Amish Tourist Trap land. It's a cute town, with some fun stores, but it's overrun with tourists and saying things like "Well I just want something Amish!" Sigh. The point is, I like Wana Cup. You should like Wana Cup too. We were hoping for some good Amish food, but boy did we have a big disappointment. I had a BLT, sorry but it was very expensive for what little I got. Four little pieces of bacon and NO mayo. I guess bacon is made of gold and mayo is hard to get. I asked the lady if I could have some mayo, she said she would check and brought me a little tiny thimble half full of mayo. I believe the marina sauce was so unique, so fresh I never had anything like that before, and asked about what it was--unique because it had a kick to it, not spice but a distinct gourmet flavor that I wish I had an entire bowl of it. How to rate this place? The broasted chicken was very very good, and she advised me on ordering it would take about 15 minutes, so I was okay with that. Told me to sit anywhere, except half the tables were closed (it was about 630) and so I had to sit alone at a table for 8 because the rest were taken. As I watched, I noticed one girl appearing to do all the work. Taking orders, running food, and everything else behind the counter. There were evidently 2 boys in the kitchen that wandered out every once in a while but didn't appear to do anything. One other girl came out of the bathroom with a trash bag (she was in there when I got there and this was 20 minutes in so I don't know how dirty it could have been in there) but she didn't do much else while I sat there. The girl doing all the work was working as fast as she could and was very friendly. She probably should have gotten the pay for the four of them. However, I did see her turn away a couple that wanted broasted chicken because it was 15 minutes to closing time and told another couple that they could only get take out because they closed in 10 minutes. Disappointed! Came here for breakfast today and my omelet was "rubbery"! There were three of us and all thought our eggs were just ok or worse. Wana-Cup has the best Root beer floats! I generally came for the burgers, fries, and a root beer float. I generally did a lot of construction work during the summers and this would be the cheat day place to eat! It was normally pretty quick and wouldn't take to long for the middle of a work day. I'd consider it the most "fast food" you're going to get when visiting Shipshewana. They have done some upgrades in interior design of the restaurant as well as an update in their menu items. I have always enjoyed eating here because the prices are fair and the meals never dissapoint. read more

We were looking for someplace to eat that wasn't a large buffet. We tried the Garden Gate Cafe but they had just closed. The owner was kind enough to point us to the Wana Cup. They were still open so we went on it. We ordered a Chef's Salad and a Country Fried Steak, the food came quick and we dug right in. It was very tasty. Service was fast and polite as well. I hardly ever write negative reviews, but I can't let this one go. Worst experience ever. Decided to try this place today (6/19 around 1pm). Ordered and sat down. The place was hot and muggy. Took at least 10 mns for us to get our 2 waters and one pop and that was after I asked a girl if we could get ours because I noticed the table beside us (who had come in after us) had already gotten their drinks. We waited at least 25 mns (wish I would have timed it) to get our food. My BLT came and didn't have any bacon on it. As a matter of fact, it BARELY had any lettuce or tomato on it. Would not expect to pay $7-$8 for that even with fries. I showed the waitress. She came back in a while with not a new sandwich, but a plate with 5 pieces of bacon on it. Trying to shorten the story here, but we asked for the manager. The "manager" comes over obviously with a preemptive attitude. When I explained that I would have expected a new sandwich especially since there was hardly any lettuce or tomato on it either, her response, in the rudest manner, was "we brought you 5 pieces of bacon, isn't that enough for you?!" I was shocked by the way she spoke to me. I explained that we had to wait a long time for our drinks, sitting here in hot humidity, and all I was asking for was a new sandwich. She says "well we're busy. My gosh, we gave you 5 pieces of bacon!" Side note - we didn't have to wait long to order our food at all because there wasn't a long line. And there were plenty of tables and booths empty, so it wasn't swamped. I said I can't believe the way you're talking to me and she said well we're busy and continued to argue with me. No apology, no offer for anything else. I told her we will never come back again and she said that's fine. So, we will NEVER come back again, at least as long as that woman is there. And btw, she was loud and mouthy enough to draw the attention of other customers around us. The people beside me said they'll never come back because of that either. Really ruined our afternoon. My 83 old mother just wanted to buy us lunch and this is what we get. I should have pushed to get her money back, but I was so angry, I just wanted to get out of there. I have pictures of what little lettuce and tomato were on the sandwich as well as the plate of bacon I was given, but it looks like I can't put them in his review. I took a couple small bites because I was so hungry that I had a headache, but left the rest. And the plate of bacon. Really just too bad that one employee can ruin what might be a decent place. And another btw, the whole time she was standing there berating me, a young waitress was standing there learning how to treat your customers. Wow. I love this place! We visit it when we visit family in the area (which is not that often). I remembered from when I last visited which was ten years ago when I was 8 years old and it was just as good as remembered when I visited yesterday.
