This place is really cool and down to earth. I love when they have board game day! I've also been on a "field trip" with them to visit the You Are Beautiful studio. They've got a ton of stuff going on, and a mostly-comfortable, if industrial atmosphere to hang out. I'm looking forward to visiting when the nice weather returns to check out their new deck and backyard area. Glad they have open events for the public so I can enjoy an interesting time with them without paying membership fees for stuff I wont use. Their "stuff" is pretty cool though! Definitely impressive woodworking area, 3D Printer, I think they mentioned an embroidery machine and vinyl cutting machine, as well as a plethora of tools I personally wouldn't know the names of. Most importantly the members there seem very friendly and welcoming and down to earth. So I'll keep coming back.

People were friendly, and introduced me to other friendly people, who in turn got me up to speed on well...pretty much everything. It was a really good night, I have to say. The LRA are good people. This studio is on the second floor of a narrow building, a few steps off of Clark, on Sheffield. If you sneeze, you can miss the joint. Does that matter?!? Heck, no! We ended up seeing a local dancer and her friend. Are they choreographers? No. Are they talented? Yes. Are there some parts of the show that can use improvement? Yes. Was the music great? Yes. Was I entertained? Yes. Would I support another "arts" performance here? Yes. What a great place to see events that may not have the opportunity to make it to a main stage, but still possess a lot of talent!

I would also imagine, that due to the size, it's more for local performances than larger scale ones. My grandpa joined Park Falls Masonic Lodge in 1952 and became a 33rd degree mason. Since then, my…read moregrandparents, mom, sister, and I have all been members of Masonic appendant organizations for adults and youth, so these groups hold a special place in my heart. This is a grand building in Jefferson Park! It was established in 1912. It would have been so interesting to see it in its heyday, but there are still several Masonic organizations that meet here. There's a two-story staircase outside but I don't think that is in use any longer, generally speaking. Whilst the Masonic bodies use this space for their meetings and events, I believe it is also available for rent by outside groups (as is common with Masonic temples). I've come here a few times for meetings of Betsey Ross Chapter and considered taking a dual membership, but at the time it was hard for me to commit especially since I had a commute that made meeting nights difficult. But it was nice to visit, and I enjoyed pro-temming once or twice. Parking is at a premium depending upon when or why you're here. There are a few spots at the building but to be honest I'm not sure that the parking lot belongs to the Temple, because when the temple was built it was next door to homes on both sides, so I think it's possible that the parking in fact belongs to the Secretary of State's office. Luckily, events that take place at the Masonic Temple don't tend to overlap too much with the SoS hours. There is some street parking nearby, and I'm not sure what the relationship is with the bank across the street but I think that parking is only for the bank/Gale Street Inn. But Jeff Park (the actual park) is about a block away so there's parking along the street there too. After the pandemic, where people were so isolated and whatnot, I think there remains a place for organizations like the Masons, Eastern Star, Job's Daughters, Elks, etc. It would be nice to see these organizations grow, and change, and experience a resurgence.
