Disappointing! We saw this restaurant had good reviews (um who wrote those?) and attempted to make reservations twice before they finally accepted our booking so we had highly anticipated our meal. The ambience was fine (it is in a shopping center so the bar is set low) but our server neglected to tell us there were dinner specials, we found out after we ordered when the table next to us got the specials recited to them by another waiter. No big deal I suppose as the food was tasteless across the board. I think my bottled water had more flavor than the bland hummus served with small, cardboard like breadsticks. They were out of wrinkled potatoes so substituted them with a fried potato in some sort of watery smoked paprika sauce. It was as if the kitchen had never heard about salt. Bland! Not worth eating. The pumpkin soup "spicy" was fine but we make it better ourselves at home. This restaurant was not what we hoped it would be due to the lackluster taste of the food. I finally get to dine at the highly recommended Wapa Tapa. I have been coming to Gran Canaria for years, but never been able to dine at Wapa Tapa as they have always been fully booked until after I go home. However, I made sure this time by booking about 3 weeks ahead, and the restaurant kindly replied and confirmed my reservation in a WhatsApp message. I ordered 4 different tapas which I think is sufficient for a hearty appetite, for many 3 would be sufficient. Each and every course was perfectly cooked and truly delicious. I particularly enjoyed the black pudding with quails eggs - something very tasty and different. Service is amazing, Carlos is a fantastic host, the waiters are cute and friendly. Drinks prices are very reasonable. I will absolutely 100% make sure that I arrange a reservation when I next come to Gran Canaria. read more

What can I say... We waited a long time to get a reservation for this place and not be disappointed. Excellent introduction by the owner and straight away could see the delights being served to other guests. The food was tasty, hot and well presented. What more can I say? The highest rated place on Tripadvisor, but what a disappointment. The service is a total chaos, we had to wait for 80 minutes for the first serving and it took them 2 1/2 hrs to serve 6 small tapas. We got the salad as the last dish! We had high expectations for this place as it is highly recommended, but we had the most disappointing meal during our week. We give the two stars for the food, but if you want to try this place be prepared for a long evening. read more

A great place for a long leisurely meal...don't expect a quick meal but take your time and enjoy the delicious food. Not a typical Tapas that alongside the usual spanish fare has a few international dishes. The chili is favourite. The wines are also good value. read more

Really good food and service, however the surroundings ruins the experience. Sadly, this place is located in an outdated shopping mall. There were plastic "windows". I can't say enough, how phenomenal my experience was at Wapa Tapa. My friends and I flew into Gran Canaria to celebrate my friends 30th. The whole flight all they said was "we can't wait till dinner, we made reservation at one of the best restaurants ". Wapa Tapa's definitely did not disappoint their hype. From the second we walked in, I felt so welcomed, the waiter spent time explaining the menu, the dishes, the specials and even gave us an amazing complimentary drink. The food was AMAZING! I'm not even exaggerating when I say EVERYTHING I put in my mouth had such a unique taste and I just wanted more of every dish! The customer service continued perfectly for the remainder of the night. We ended up spending 4 hrs there and I loved every second of it. They were so warm and kind, they even gave us extra shots and sang happy birthday for my friend. HIGHLY RECOMMEND ANYONE THAT COMES TO GRAN CANARIA TO MAKE RESERVATIONS AND MAKE A NIGHT OUT OF GOING HERE. I promise you it's sooooo worth it!!!! read more

As a regular visitor to the Yumbo centre I have in the past been sorely disappointed by the quality of restaurants (to be honest Gran Canaria isn't known for its cuisine). Wapa Tapa was recommended to me my a friend so we decided to go there on the first night of our holiday. It didn't disappoint. The only problem was that we ordered too much. The dishes were a little hit and miss (I didn't like the churitzo sausage at all) but the wings and the bread were delicious! read more
