I…read morebumped into Paint Plates at an arts and craft festival, and the owner kindly gave me a sample of her earth-friendly, compostable paint palette she had created. I love to paint, but don't always set up for a project due to the mess and waste. This is an awesome idea. It's right sized for usable amounts of paint and rather than spending a ton of time (and using up gallons of water) in cleanup, you can simply put the used palette (Paint Plate) into your compost at the end of your session. Consensus: I loved it. Super easy to set up, and I didn't have any of my usual guilt about putting too much paint out and wasting it, and having a huge clean up afterwards. Although I'm not a teacher, I have sat in on classes, and I can completely see how this would be an amazing and earth-friendly product to use. Each student would have an appropriate amount of paint, the palettes are really easy to use and hold, and the whole post-class cleanup would take minutes instead of hours. I think this may end up being the "Post-It" notes of the paint world, one of those "why didn't I think of that" ideas that makes total sense at the end of the day.

Excluding dinos, the town features an apocalyptic amount of small town urban blight and boarded up store-fronts. In this sobering landscape, HL Worden doesn't exactly stand out, but it is a funky little place worth a quick visit: they produce and retail kits for making your own tiffany-style stained glass lights, windows, etc. I think 90% of their business must be mail order or internet. Kinda goofy, but I find this little company strangely compelling and entertaining to visit. Hey the competition isn't tough, but Worden definitely makes the shortlist of "The Best of Granger."
