Funny reading Mark's review-they told me they couldn't install a flash hider on an FN FAL. In fairness, I have an inch pattern FAL(L1A1). I dropped the rifle off to have a misfeeding issue diagnosed(this is the first gas-operated assault rifle I've ever owned). I was told that they were really backed up and I could expect it to be ready in 2-3 weeks. A little disappointing, but I figured I'd wait as they seem to be the only gunsmith in town. After a couple of months of occasional phone calls I gave up and picked the rifle up a little over three months later. It wasn't ready, of course, but I used the few months to figure out that I needed to switch magazines and regulate the gas. Now my rifle operates great. I suppose I should thank them for forcing me to figure out my own weapon Maybe I should ask them for a job? A warning: this guy is in good with several local gun shop owners and employees, who probably receive priority service. If you're looking for a local gunsmith, you will likely be referred to WAR rifles. I strongly suggest finding a different gunsmith-even if you have to drive out of the area or ship your weapon, you will get it back faster than taking it to these guys. Quick footnote: apparently there's a new gunsmith opening soon in Fairfax near the old Border's and the Wal Mart. read more

Great business to deal with for your rifle needs. I was referred to this place from Virginia Arms in Manassas. I needed a stock installed and, after trying to do it myself, I brought it to these guys for some help. I dropped it off in the morning and four hours later it was ready. The price was very reasonable, too. Every individual I dealt with at the shop was very nice and helpful. With all the machinery and equipment I saw, it appears these guys can perform a variety of services. I'll definitely be back if I have any other rifle needs. read more

BAD JOB, EVEN WORSE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! I took my gun in to get fixed and it's worse now than when I first brought it in. When I brought it back to give them a second shot at fixing it, I was told they were too busy to deal with it, that it could take 4-5 weeks to get it back. In other words, "We got your money and now don't care at all about you." I found this to be unacceptable. I asked to get another weapon back that I'd dropped off to take it elsewhere and the owner completely freaked out. He literally threw the weapon at me and told me to never come back. When I stopped to make sure he was giving me back everything I had given him, he got even worse, almost to the point of threatening physical confrontation. Unbelievable. The positive reviews must have been given by friends because from the experience I had, it seems they do a shoddy job. And, if you notice, they are completely unprofessional to say the least. Excellent shop excellent people. If you want a custom rifle built or a superior ceracoat finish this is the place. My Remmington 700 is now a sub MOA tack driver and looks like a million bucks. Their machining skills take a back seat to no one. This place is truly a hidden gem. Other reviews have said it's a bit hard to find, don't be discouraged, it's worth the search. Once you are on Euclid avenue go to the last possible drive into the industrial park on the right BEFORE you reach Industrial Dr. If you get to Industrial Dr you went too far. They are located in the second large building on the right once you turn in. You will see the sign over the door. The shop is attached to an automotive repair place called Walt's, so if you see a sign for Walt's You are just on the wrong side of the building. read more

Could not find the shop. The address here leads to a strip center that is not the correct address, same result when put in Google Maps. I then tried to find the address by driving down the road to it but the road ended before I got to the corresponding street number and I didn't see any signs for the business. Took my FN-FAL there to have a new flash hider installed. Great job, reasonable price. I'll be taking them more work as I need it. The shop IS hard to find. Couldn't be happier. They threaded a barrel and timed the break in under 24 hours. Everyone else wanted 4 weeks and more money. Nearly impossible to find anyone who can match the quality and turnaround time. I'll definitely be back. read more

Very Skilled Folks. I took them my 1911 frankengun to get refinished and they did an amazing job. Since it is a frankengun the finish on various parts were all mismatched. The gun is a tack driver, but was cosmetically ugly. They did a full parkerizing followed by an olive drab Cerakote on the frame and slide. The contrast in the parts is perfect. The gun now looks fantastic. I highly recommend these guys for your firearms work. I'll be taking them another gun soon to get the barrel threaded. Two thumbs up! read more

I was referred here from an online forum, so I called them up and setup a drop off for my Glock 19 slide to be worked on. I had them Cerakote the slide, along with installing some sights I furnished. It was a Friday drop-off, and I picked up the finished slide on the following Wed. The slide came out great, and the sights were spot-on. I really could not have asked for a better job. I couldn't help but laugh at the review from "c.s."... Anyone with any realistic perspective on how a service industry works, knows that it's first come first serve, regardless of what type of work it is... So I'm not really sure how it's disappointing to know people were in line in front of you. Not to mention that W.A.R. rifle's main business is precision rifles (something that takes a great deal of time and machining). Having had 5 full custom precision rifles built by them, and been patient for their quality work, I don't get off where you have room to whine like a 5 year old. Take your hooptie spray-and-pray FAL back to the Potomac where you found it. Anyway.... All of the guy's at W.A.R. have treated me as if I've been family since first coming to their shop. I get no attitude, just sound honest advice and some good humor while hanging out. They're always happy to discuss whatever questions I bring to them regarding ideas for my next build or new calibers. They've also done an amazing job Cerakoting every bolt action, AR, and pistol that I've brought to them. Hands down, one of the best groups of guys I've had the pleasure of dealing with. Location is hard to find, located away from roadway at backend of building. Gunsmith work appears to be a sideline of a deli-truck/RV repair/upgrade shop. Maybe they should stick with that. Many probably had great experiences with W.A.R. Rifles - good for them. Mine was the opposite when having a complete rebuild of a rifle. Some work excellent, some incomplete; other instances didn't follow instructions, doing what they wanted to be done. Continual delays, with a little BS mixed in. Unprofessional in dealing with demanding customer - did manage to be cursed and get thrown out. Bring it to Hatfield's in Manassas. read more

Not sure how anyone could give this business 1 star. I did a lot of research online in regards to gun repairs. I called them on the phone first. Just to make sure they answered the phone. They did. I had a gun that was in really bad shape. When they seen it, they gave me multiple options and were up front with the pricing. They communicated with me multiple times over the few weeks they had my gun. When I picked it up I was more than happy with the outcome. The workmanship was phenomenal. These guys are gunsmiths. You can see and hear it in their tone how much they love fire arms. Do not be deceived because it is in a warehouse district. You will be very happy with their work. If it is possible, they can do it. read more

They have cerakoted several rifles and done other work. All work is top notch. Sometimes they do take a while but i would rather have quality work than a rush job. And yes they are hard to find, they are now on the corner of the building. read more
