We stayed beachfront and basically had the whole beach to ourselves the whole time. The most people we saw on the beach was like 60 people across 2 miles on a Saturday. White sandy beaches, clear blue/green water and a comfortable lukewarm water on the daily. Best vacation spot to find for such a good price. Treasure island stole our hearts. It was so hard to leave such a beautiful and perfect beach after 6 days. We will definitely come back!

Nature won't let you down. But the actual island is slowly going down hill. The famous white sand beach is still there, but is suffering a little from erosion and now has areas of scrub as well. Recently extra sand was imported in, but 2 back to back hurricanes have spread that new sand everywhere but on the beach. Beware of the parking situation. It's funny that you can park in downtown St Petersburg or at Tampa Airport for less money than on Treasure Island. Unless you are staying at a motel or hotel on the beach that gives you a parking space along with your room expect to pay at least $6 an hour for parking on the beach. Stick to city owned parking lots. The privately owned lots are true tourist traps. At Pirate Square strip mall I paid online and still received a $63 parking ticket! There is no way to contact the company to complain and if you pay within a few days they reduce it to $43 to encourage people to not fight the ticket. Fortunately this lot has been torn down but the damage has been done and other private lots are following suit. Every year the Sand Sculpture competition in November and the Kite Festival in January bring back the festival crowds I remember from decades ago. In between times there is just an overpriced resort town as high end luxury hotels and corporate owned tourist trap store chains slowly replace the quaint little motels and local owned shops that gave the area its unique flavor. You can still find some of the Treasure Island spirit but you have to look hard.

I've been here twice or three times, since they shoot their fireworks in this water. They are quite nice. This park has many nice open space areas for recreation including a splash pad and baseball diamond. They hold festivals here and most recently their Merry Market Christmas fest which I also went to last year. It's a good space for vendors and food trucks and entertainment to gather. Parking is right beside the park and if it's a big event, it can be a challenge to find parking. It's nice they have this space. I do love Madeira Beach, & this festival and fireworks is great. Saturday, Dec. 14, 2024 is their Xmas Boat parade in this same location with their market.

Check Benches and grassy areas? Check Maintained? TRIPLE CHECK ROC park seriously rocks! There is even a pier you can fish, dolphin site, or simply meditate from. If you are looking for more reasons to love Madeira Beach (LOL as if you need anything more than the stellar sunsets and cool local businesses of the whole middle beaches area.) this is certainly one of them. This park is tucked into the inner coastal, turn just before the library and there you are! My only ~words of warning~ are that the speed bumps are BRUTAL. So drive slowly :-) (which you should be anyway) and take it easy.

Many locals come to Sunset Vista Beach for a tranquil spot with hassle-free parking to watch the beautiful Florida beach sunsets and enjoy the beach away from all the commotion of Caddy's Beach Bar & Grill. The Sunset Vista Trailhead Park sign gives the back-story for the funding & origination of this park: "Property for Sunset Vista Trailhead Park was purchased with funding from the Florida Communities Trust Preservation 2000 Program, and assistance of the Trust for Public Land. Construction of the Park was funded in part with Natural Resource Damage Funds recovered by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration for Public Recreational Losses caused by the 1993 Tampa Bay Oil Spill." The Sunset Vista Park has bike racks, showers, 2 long boardwalk walkways for getting to the beach, and a pavilion that provides ample room and seating for those who do not wish to walk down to the beach. There is a 2 mile Beach Nature Trail that winds along Sunset Beach's dunes with display signs telling you about the fragile dune ecology. Treasure islands coastal dunes have 3 vegetation zones. The frontal zone has sea oats, beach sunflowers, railroad vines, beach morning glory, American sea rockets which have tough root systems to help stabilize the dune. In the back dune zone, palmetto, wax Myrtle, cabbage palm, and sea grapes colonize the dune. I was surprised to see that Raccoons live among the dunes and saw some Nice Wild Red Dune flowers in bloom w Yellow Tips! If you're looking for an easy spot to park at Sunset Beach in Treaure Island close to Caddys Beach for only $2 per hour, I highly recommend parking by Sunset Vista Park as it is a lot better option than paying $25 to park at Caddys if the Pelican lot is full. Sunset Vista Park is a great spot to learn about dune and go for a hike or enjoy the beach without a lot of music or people!

My only issue with this side is there is one piece of equipment that I cannot figure out how to use. Wish there was some signs with instructions or illustrations for each piece of equipment. Other part of park is for the kids. One section seems like a toddler area with baby swings nearby. There are also 2 regular swings in this section. In the middle are lots of climbing type pieces with a section with a slide. There are at least 3 spin type pieces and one "elevator" type piece you have to climb up to the step area. This is not obvious so my great niece had to watch someone else do it before she figured out how it worked. After that it was her favorite thing to do. The slide only has a bar type climb access which is not great if you have a kid that prefers steps or is smaller. There is a slide in the toddler area that is easier to get up to but a smaller length slide. Overall we enjoyed coming to this playground. It has wood chips on the ground and is fairly shaded. There is parking for about 6 vehicles which seemed adequate when we were there. It is at the end of a neighborhood and runs along Gulfport Blvd. I recommend trying this location especially if you are near this area.

I stopped at Publix to grab a pub sub, a modelo and some mangoes and had a beach picnic while listening to the waves crash. This beach is perfectly located on the west coast and I love that it's always such clean , clear waters. Sunrise or sunset, this beach is in my top 5 of Florida beaches for sure. Looking forward to a beautiful weekend on the beach , more pictures to come !

Sunset beach is a very pretty beach. This is where we surf. This is the best place to catch some…read morewaves. It's still open to the public, but it has suffered much damage. Most of the buildings are still closed/roped off due to damages. It's December; it's winter; so all the water around here is churned up & not clear, looks dirty. It is always like this after the Hurricane season. Always looks dirty, till one day, poof! Like magic; it's clear again. Hopefully the Pavilion & park will be rebuilt & much improved by spring. Will return to update.

Why in the world would they not put the shower back? This will just lead people to wash up in the bathrooms.
