Went on Sunday about 11 AM and got lucky and was able to find parking. The beach stayed pretty sparse in the area where we were located. It was very nice and soothing. Can't wait to spend more summer days there!

Back for Spring Break! We rented chairs and it is very reasonably priced. We love sitting, swimming, and walking. Great beach!

Love this small beach town. It was completely underwater during the two big hurricanes and it took some time to come back a little bit. The drum circle is fun. Parking is the worst part. Owned mostly by a private company Hard to find and expensive when you do. Especially since they raised the prices. Do not park at any private businesses as they will tow and it is very expensive. Enjoy the Beach if yiu make it

Thanks to a dedicated team of volunteer beach cleanup folks, Treasure Island is a delight to visit in any season. The city banned smoking and dogs on the beach which helps keep the waterways safe for visitors and native wildlife. There are beach chairs and umbrellas for rent, three different inflatable slide and bouncy type activities for purchase, and wide open spaces to relax. There are public parking spaces (fees) and restrooms available during daylight hours.

Beautiful beach with white sandy beaches don't disappoint!!! If you have any physical limitations, it is quite a walk from the parking lot to the beach.

Nice clean beach. Well maintained. Nice big sidewalks and walkways. Small parking area. Get there early. Not too many restaurants close to the area where we were at. Had to drive to one. Kite festival during our visit. Loved it.

Awesome spot on the barrier islands in Tampa, lots of restaurants, bars, and shopping. Everything you need in one great location. Getting around you have several choices from free taxis to scheduled trolly service, some hotels provide bikes and walking is always an option. This place is definitely worth a visit.

Beautiful calm beach with powder soft sand. Peaceful, relaxing, great for swimming, sunbathing or just walking along the shore.

It's truly a beach. No bars, no restaurants, no entertainment around the area. Just the community, sand and water.

I visited Treasure Island beach on a Sunday morning and I thought it was a great beach. There is a public parking lot but it fills up by late morning. We got there around 9am and there was plenty of parking. You can pay for parking using the Park Mobile app and is $2 an hour. There is a snack bar, gift shop, and bathrooms on site.

Holy crap! It's almost a mile walk from the parking lot to the ocean at Treaure Island beach! Strike 1 - Treaure Island beach has to be Florida's widest beach with way too much sand to walk through with beach gear to get to the water. Strike 2 - bathrooms are closed. Bathrooms should close at sunset not at 5pm. Strike 3 - Concessions are closed. Strike 4 - there is no shaded cover over the playground, making the playground way too hot to use for most of the day. I've seen shading over virtually every other playground I've visited in Florida. Strike 5 - the facilities looked old, dirty, and run-down. Management really needs to pressure wash and add a fresh coat of paint to the place and modernize the 70s style architecture of this facility. Treasure Island Beach is located mid-island on Treasure Island, North of Sunshine Beach, and South of Sunshine Beach. Treasure Island Beach is also called "City of St Petersburg Municipal Beach at Treasure Island", which is unnecessarily & terribly wordy long name for a sign. When you see this worry sign, this is the best place with public beach parking for Treasure Island Beach. There are 6 volleyball courts you have to pass before you get to the beach and none of them are in use. It is along the mid-island stretch of Treasure Island that you'll find the paved Treasure Island Beach Trail, perfect for walking, skateboarding, dog-walking and bicycling. If you're in the Treasure Island area, I do not recommend going to Treasure Island Beach mid-island as the facilities are horrible and it's too far of a walk unless. The only time I do recommend visiting the Treasure Island Beach is when the Sand Ovations Masters Cup will have beautiful sand art on display in mid November every year. Otherwise, I recommend visiting Sunshine Beach on the Northern End of Treaure Island or Sunset Beach on the southern end of Treaure Island, home of Caddys Beach Bar!

Beautiful beach with plenty of white sand to get from the parking lot to the water. There's places to rent beach furniture as well as a huge inflatable water slide. They also have Sanding ovations event here. There an easy paid parking lot at the Gulf front park lot. The water is nice and clear, there's plenty of beach to walk on and I saw two dolphins playing and the most beautiful sky.

This isn't the most breathtaking peace I have ever gone too, but it us easily accessible (parking wise, if you go early in the morning or late at night). It is still a beautiful, well kept beach. The water was the perfect temperature this morning. A morning swim just after sunrise was glorious. There is a snack bar and bathrooms (not the cleanest). I have been here at peak weekend hours... parking is a nightmare. However they do have umbrellas and beach chairs for rent, and the beach equipment service is always amazing, super cool guys. Will be back for an evening swim!

Treasure Island Beach Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Treasure Island Beach

How much are cabana rentals for the day?

Don't know price, but it's cash only

Is the water clear like in south beach?

    Yes!

Is the sand cold like on Siesta?

It's powdery just like St Pete Beach, and bright white so it doesn't get too hot to walk on, but I've never heard it described as cold.

    Is this beach dog friendly?

No, as you enter any of the beach access points you will see a sign that dogs are not permitted along with alcohol, glass or vehicles. During our last week there we did not see any pets or dogs on any of the public beaches.

Nature won't let you down. But the actual island is slowly going down hill. The famous white sand beach is still there, but is suffering a little from erosion and now has areas of scrub as well. Recently extra sand was imported in, but 2 back to back hurricanes have spread that new sand everywhere but on the beach. Beware of the parking situation. It's funny that you can park in downtown St Petersburg or at Tampa Airport for less money than on Treasure Island. Unless you are staying at a motel or hotel on the beach that gives you a parking space along with your room expect to pay at least $6 an hour for parking on the beach. Stick to city owned parking lots. The privately owned lots are true tourist traps. At Pirate Square strip mall I paid online and still received a $63 parking ticket! There is no way to contact the company to complain and if you pay within a few days they reduce it to $43 to encourage people to not fight the ticket. Fortunately this lot has been torn down but the damage has been done and other private lots are following suit. Every year the Sand Sculpture competition in November and the Kite Festival in January bring back the festival crowds I remember from decades ago. In between times there is just an overpriced resort town as high end luxury hotels and corporate owned tourist trap store chains slowly replace the quaint little motels and local owned shops that gave the area its unique flavor. You can still find some of the Treasure Island spirit but you have to look hard.

All of the Gulf views and nice sand as the rest of the Pinellas County beaches, without the crowds of St. Pete Beach and Clearwater Beach, with some parking difficulties but still easier/cheaper than the former and definitely more plentiful than Indian Rocks Beach. Parking has expanded, too- you can now park across the street in the lot adjacent to the CVS and a bit down the road at the now-closed pub. If you don't want to deal with the machines, they're on the WayToPark app. This is the northernmost main access point to Madeira Beach, and tends to have fewer tourists because it's not close to any big hotels. It has a snack bar and gift shop, which is handy if you get hungry or forget something or want a break for some shade. There's sometimes live music, which is nice while you're on the patio but does detract from the beach experience a bit unless you walk a ways. You can rent a chair/umbrella or you can walk a bit past the rentals and sit for free. All that really is extra though-- it's a pretty beach with nice sand and great views, what else do you need?

We came on a saturday and it got pretty crowded but I didn't feel like it was too much, it didn't feel like there were way too many people. We also may have come during jellyfish season? Because they were literally everywhere in the water so I steered clear. I don't know if they sting or not but just something to be aware of I guess, and that's just kind of a thing at a lot of beaches but this seemed more than usual. A lot of people were also smoking in this beach which was really disappointing to me, because there were tons of families with young children around and I just feel like the beach is supposed to be a safe, clean space away from things like cigarettes but I don't know. Something that is nice, though, is you can rent an umbrella and chairs for $25 for entire day, they close at 7pm. I think it's either 10 or $15 for just the chairs. The concession and gift shop part is just awesome. There's live music every saturday and the lady who sings is incredibly talented and a great entertainer. They have so many different food options I was not expecting, and the food was actually decent. Parking is not free but I don't think it's over expensive. Great area!

Once on the island, we had about 45-50 minutes to explore the beaches and do a little snorkeling and shell-hunting. The island is aptly named, with rows and piles of shells along its white, sandy beaches. The water was warm and perfect for swimming. Soon enough we were back on board and heading back to the harbor. And that's when the magic happened: dolphins! Following along in our wake, and no doubt attracted to the enthusiastic squeals of one of our dolphin-loving fellow passengers, the dolphins put on quite a show. Even Dalton, who I assume sees a LOT of dolphins, was impressed by how long they followed in our wake and performed jumps and flips for us.
