A fighter jet at Warbird Park.
    Ken P.

I was visiting my family in Myrtle Beach, SC and when we were doing some checking out of popular attractions we ended up visiting Warbird Park. This is conveniently located near the Myrtle Beach International Airport and is very worth seeing. As soon as you drive into the park where this is located you are greeted by a large memorial wall and the signage but behind it will instantly find you in awe as you look at actual jets that were donated to this memorial park. Rather than line it all out I've embedded a video from my YouTube Channel and hope it inspires you to visit this space when in beautiful Myrtle Beach, SC https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Bwg26_HsbQ&t=52s

Because we always need great reminders of the service and sacrifice of so many who have fought for our freedoms, this place is a nice little park tucked away close to The Market Commons that showcases a few authentic planes from the 1950s - 1980s. There is a nice path and memorial with lots of info display. Worth the stop to stretch out your legs!

On our way to The Market Common we noticed a number of military aircrafts on display. We decided to stop by and take some time to browse around. This park is dedicated to those who served at the now-closed Myrtle Beach Air Force Base. Admission and parking is free. The park has aircraft displays, walking paths with displays recounting the history of the Myrtle Beach Air Force Base and a Wall of Service. A bike trail also connects this park to the East Coast Greenway. Airplanes on display include: North American F-100D Super Sabre, LTV A-7D Corsair II, and Fairchild-Republic A-10A Thunderbolt II. These airplanes were used at the former Myrtle Beach AFB while attached to the 354th Tactical Fighter Wing. This Wing saw service in the Cold War, Vietnam and the Persian Gulf War. If you're in the area, definitely drop by Warbird Park.

This is a cool place to walk around and read a little history. There are Air Force planes and a memorial to the people from this area that served our country. I feel deep appreciation for everyone that has ever served in our military. I enjoyed this park. It is beside the airport and there are benches you can sit on to watch the planes take off and land. We were with our dog and she wasn't sitting still that long. Padmé was on a mission to explore every walkway.

Warbird Park is a nice local park focused on the MB Air Force base, and a Veterans Memorial. I LOVE airplanes, and the static displays here show 3 planes that served at the MB Air Force Base, back in the day. The A-10 Warthog is the beauty here, my favorite USAF plane. There's a Veterans Memorial with names of those who served. Then a large walking path that circles through the pines, taking you near the MB airport. Overall this is a nice local park, lots of historical info to read and learn from, and reflect on. Check it out.

Beautiful dedication to the old Air Force base in Myrtle beach, with several signs throughout the walkway giving you descriptions of what once was. The jets are a nice centerpiece for everyone to look at and admire, and the Warthog is one of my favorites. As you walk closer to the airport side of the property, you can sit and watch the commercial airplanes land or take off, and occasionally you may see some military jets practicing their landings and takeoffs. I try to stop by Warbird Park each time that I visit Myrtle Beach, because it's always being upgraded and new memorials are added from time to time. Parking is limited, but you really don't want a big parking lot around here anyway.

Walking this area brings back so many memories. For those that don't know, all of what is now Market Common was in the past Myrtle Beach Air Force Base. While the base dates back to WWII - it was still an active AFB in the 90s and a lot of folks served here. It closed at the end of March 1993. This was, at various times, "hometown" for a little while to 1000s of Air Force Brats over the years. Walking the maintenance and flight line area at night/early evening will carry any Cold War era military brat back to another place and time. You can't go home again though, they turned it into an outdoor mall. Sometimes, when a C130 or some trainers are using MYR next door - close your eyes and it's just like then.... Not exactly like a herd of Warthogs though.

Small park located outside the congested city. Very clean. They have a aircraft viewing area over looking the airport with several benches. There are several plaques that tell the history on the AFB. If you are a history buff this park is for you.

This railway station has not been in public service since the 1950's I was told but the building still stands and on the nearby rails stand both a decommissioned box car and caboose. Neither of these is open for public exploration inside but the train depot building itself is. Inside the small facility are numerous photographs from across the stations history and a few related relics. There is a time capsule as well which was sealed in May of 2004 and is set to be opened in May of 2054. In the rear of the station which probably originally served as the waiting room area and some office space is a publicly accessible room but I did not go into it as there was a family function happening at the time. My guess is that they rent this room out and let people bring in catered fare. You can stand on the place where the platform used to let passengers on and off but mind your step and the same can be said for the tracks. The two cars can be posed in front of by I discourage climbing on them as all for the sake of your own safety. I was glad we chanced upon this since the photos will make for good blogging and Instagram material.

Absolutely beautiful area and well worth the visit…read more We took a drive out to Conway yesterday. It's truly an Americana town with so much history dating as far back to the 1732 British settlement. We took a lovely stroll on the Riverwalk and soaked in the scenery. Saw many different types of boats coming thru on the water as the trailhead is right there. Boaters can even dock, do lunch or simply just walk around town. Few people were fishing, and many families were enjoying the fully fenced in playground. A local hot spot right on the edge of the riverwalk is a place called Chanti's Pizza, it's a popular local restaurant that caters to many homeowners, as well as great reviews by numerous visitors that come to town too! Would be a perfect place to dine if spending some time here and wanting to have lunch or dinner on the water. It's truly an iconic boardwalk trail (approximately 1.5-mile of a scenic pathway) along Waccamaw River that goes under the US-501 bridge and over some extremely old railroad tracks. Stunning views of the river and an abundance of Spanish moss draping the trees. Definitely a must do if you are near this community or while traveling on vacation just as we were.

Best of all, it's free. In October, definitely come back for the Halloween town when the trees are decorated with hanging pumpkins and there are spooky displays everywhere. The calendar features events like movie nights, food trucks, and the scare factory.

There are lots of activities for the young and young at heart throughout this outside mall area. It's kinda a touristy spot as you have many attractions $ including: Bungee, Speed Boat Experience, zip line, small rides, a Ferris wheel, a theater. Not to mention it's all on the ocean.
