What a great experience, even during COVID. I have two pairs of Warby eyeglasses that I just love but both needed some tuning up and one pair needed the lenses replaced (for the second time- I'm very hard on them). I love Warby because they're so affordable and each time you replace the lenses it's only $50! What a steal. This time in particular was made great by Howard. What a gem! I stopped by here around lunch time on a Sunday for the first time. I like the layout of the store - it's bright, clean, and there are plenty of employees walking around if you have questions. As soon as I walked in I had a woman greet me and ask what I was looking for. She explained that the pricing included both the frames and prescription lenses. I was really impressed with how affordable the glasses are at Warby Parker! There were many styles that I liked and most were $100-150. Per an employee who worked there, it takes 7-10 business days to get your frames fitted with prescription lenses. I'm planning to come back in the near future and snag a pair :) read more

Sadly, Warby Parker's service and quality has been rapidly declining. I own four pairs and the most recent pair of glasses that had a defective lens coating I wasn't made aware of until months after they arrived. Once the replacement pair arrived at the store for pickup, I received a message that this pair was also defective and a second replacement pair was necessary. Throughout this process, I noticed WP had a delivery address for a store in Madison WI, not this location in Chicago. I pointed this out to them three times in writing and was assured the change to the correct address would be made. Sure enough, the second replacement pair arrived in WI so I had to wait several additional days for them to be shipped to Chicago. This left me without the pair of glasses for nearly two months. When the second replacement set finally arrived at this location, I was treated horribly by in-person staff while getting them adjusted. I was rushed out the door, never even offered a mirror to evaluate the fitting, and the end result is I have a pair of glasses I can't wear because the nose pads are so tight so as to be unwearable and they sit crooked on my face. When arriving at the store and checking in, they allowed two other customers, also in for adjustments, ahead of me for reasons I can't assume. In the end, WP not only provided a defective product - twice - the representative at this location responsible were fitting the glasses did a subpar job. At this point, I no longer trust that any of my WP glasses have the correct prescriptions. It's a real shame. When this location opened, the staff and opticians were excellent, but each year, the service has gone downhill. read more

I haven't had the chance to pick out a pair of glasses yet, because choosing is so darn impossible...especially at Warby Parker (WB)! My kid sat on my glasses at the end of last week. The next day I grabbed an eye appointment at my local Lenscrafters to get an updated prescription to start the getting-new-glasses process. On Friday I happened to be near WB, so I figured I'd pop in, try a few frames on, order up, and be done. Doh! Nope! I get overwhelmed walking into a grocery store. I get overwhelmed by large restaurant menus. And, now I can officially admit to getting overwhelmed by so many great eye glass options. Yep, I realize the process of finding the right pair won't be easy :-( When I walked into WP, I was pleasantly greeted by a lovely gal (wish I could remember her name). She explained how my VSP insurance would work, how to look at sizes, showed me around the store, and encouraged me to grab any frames I saw and to keep any favorites with me as I shopped. My kids were with me (including my sudden big kid hubby), who all went completely crazy trying on glasses and taking selfies. We were apparently there to help me pick out frames, but it became quickly obvious that I was on my own. That being said, I decided to come back another time and kicked my entire family out the door while I snapped a few photos of the frames on the shelf I had interest in. After ordering from the Armitage location, I received my glasses within a week. When I tried them on, the temples were sticking out more than I wanted. I chatted with an agent online and they let me know I could get them adjusted at any shop, not just the one I ordered from. I made my way to this location, waited for maybe 5 minutes while the doctor finished with another customers. She heated them up, adjusted, had me try them on to see how they felt, then continued to adjust until I was satisfied. I was in and out of there within 15 minutes. read more

Believe the hype. I haven't had an eye exam or bought new glasses in a really long time so I was way overdue. I stopped in one day and was immediately greeted by Harrison. He was really helpful right off the bat and was able to make me an appointment for an eye exam about 20 minutes later. It gave me just enough time to try on lots of glasses and pick my favorites. Dr. Dowling handled my exam and could not have been warmer or more helpful. He spent time talking to me about my eyes, my regular routine and asked a lot of great questions about my contacts. He ultimately made a small adjustment to my prescription and gave me new lenses to try. They are life changingly awesome. He had me wear the sample pair for a week and come back to check them. We also ordered my new glasses. When my glasses came a few days later, they were not quite right. I brought them back in to my next appointment. The contacts, however, were perfect. Harrison spent about 30 minutes with me helping to figure out how to make my glasses better. At no charge, they made some small tweaks and re-ordered them. I had two five star experiences at the store - from simply walking in the door, making my appointments, choosing my glasses, my eye exam - everything. I HIGHLY recommend this location and Dr. Dowling. He is awesome and so is Warby Parker! read more

Looking for some stylish yet affordable glasses? Warby Parker is the perfect place for you! The process is simple. Bring your prescription, try on the glasses and pick the glasses that you like, ask for opinions on how you look (if you want). A staff member will help you complete the process. You can pick up the glasses within the week or have it mailed to you directly (usually takes a week- a couple days longer than if you were to pick it up at the store directly). My first time going to warby Parker was during Covid and I think they're doing a great job! Any frame you touch goes into a tray and they sanitize them before placing them back on the shelves. I also got my eye exam here- while it was fine, I think I'll go to another place for more comprehensive eye exams bc my eyes are terrible. But, the sales folks are great! Also, I paid less for contacts and glasses here than I've spent before. Because of my terrible prescription, I usually spend a LOT of money even after insurance, and compared to previous years, this year was way cheaper! One of the sales associates said it was because they sell everything at wholesale cost so it's more affordable- well... I appreciate it!!! read more

Just bought a pair of glasses here. It was a very cool experience! I set an appointment online late at night for the next afternoon. I only waited about 5 minutes for the doctor. He was very quick, thorough, and personable. Everyone who worked on the sales floor was just there to help. No one was pushy but they were definitely proactive in wanting to help me. And, they were very knowledgeable. They have an app that scans your face and suggests glasses that will be a good fit. Ironically, the salesperson picked the same ones. Price was very reasonable- $95 for a pair of nice looking glasses. The glasses fit right and are solid quality. Overall, it's one of the best values I've found in awhile. And, it was a great experience in the store. The icing on the cake is that with every purchase they donate a pair of glasses to someone in need. I'll keep this very short. The selection of glasses seem to fall short for people with larger faces. I only found one pair I really liked, and they were just a house brand of a popular Ray-Ban style. They came in both sunglasses style, and regular Rx style, so I opted for both. The provider at the appointment was very friendly, but my prescription wound up being incorrect either due to an incorrect input of the numbers by either the provider, or the employee ordering my glasses. I actually saw proof of the number being entered into 2 separate boxes on an entry form for some reason. Because of this, my first round of glasses (both pairs) showed up unwearable. Also, the coating on the sunglasses was damaged, and an employee at the Southport location apologized and said they couldn't imagine how these could have gotten past inspection. Reluctantly, I decided to give them another chance, even though the lab where the glasses were made was weeks and weeks behind on filling orders. To give some perspective. I waited about 2 months over all, to finally get another 2 pairs of glasses, which also had the wrong Rx filled, this time on the opposite eye. In short, I waited 2 months for them to incorrectly fill a glasses order that I paid over $600. After 3 weeks of sending them back, I was finally refunded. I went to LensCrafters after this fiasco, and received my correct glasses filled within 3 business days. Great perspective. read more

Disclaimer: I dislike getting my eyes checked every year because it virtually never changes and is a hassle. However, Dr Brian Dowling is one of the best optometrists I have ever had the pleasure of getting an eye exam from. Normally the machine that does the "death puff" (as I like to call it), goes on for eternity because I always blink. And yet, Dr Dowling did it without me even noticing. I have seen ophthalmologists who weren't that skilled using the slit lamp (impressive!). On top of that, he wrote the rx for two years and made sure to tell me that if it doesn't fit, that I should go to the store in nyc because the one where I normally live is independent and I would have to pay another fee. Now I'll have to lobby for more business trips to Chicago so I can get my eye exams here. But for you lucky midwesterners who are as nearsighted as me, do yourself a favor and go see Brian. I guarantee that by the end you'll be asking "do you want to start?" and he'll say "nope, all done. read more

Warby Parker has been on my radar for years but it wasn't until I broke a pair of older glasses that I sought out the Gold Coast physical location. I came in during the July 4th holiday, tried on a bunch of men's eyeglasses (they have a sunglasses section too), and proceeded to schedule an appointment for later in the week with an on-site optometrist. I was scheduled for the last appointment, which was 6:40 pm on Friday. I came in days later for my eye exam and within 25 minutes had a prescription in my hand (the process was quick and easy). I then placed an order for the eyeglasses that I had selected days before, paid, and received digital receipts to my email address, with a tracking number as well. Within 5 business days, I had a new pair of glasses and did not even need them refitted. Other notable features include the 1 year replacement if the lenses are scratched, and the ability to bring in your glasses if issues arise with the fitting. I popped in on a slow Sunday night and had a great experience with the entire team, especially the one on one service with Romy. The staff was cheery and greeted me as I entered the store. They let me know that they were available if I needed assistance. I made my way to the wall of frames and began trying them on. I pretty much know what I like when I see it so it was a matter of narrowing down my choices. Romy introduced himself and offered suggestions. He was helpful with picking the frame that looked best and suited my large "globe" eyes. It was a hard call between two frames I really liked. Romy let me know that if I changed my mind on the chosen frame, I could exchange them within 30 days. WOW. I couldn't believe it!! That is quite an offer!! Alright, I claim first! Overall, I had an easy, friendly, pleasant experienced of having an eye exam, picking out a pair of glasses and now awaiting to receive them in the mail. I have some FSA money to spend so I had booked the appointment on the company website, which was very easy to use. Note they do not take insurance for the eye exam and its for glasses prescriptions only (not contact) with a flat fee of 75$ (as stated on their website). Came to the store at the appointment time, greeted by friendly staff and filled out some preliminary paperwork. Within minutes, I was seen by Dr. Dowling. He was professional and friendly during the exam. He was enthusiastic answering my questions and explaining how the store work. His instructions were clear and easy to follow. As I exited his office, the staffs immediately came for help. They were friendly and happy and even eager to help me pick out a style and pair of glasses I like. I had browsed their website before hand, so I have an idea what I was looking for. The store featured a good amount of selections. The glasses were very organized, displayed in array and easy to reach. There were ample mirrors for try on, compare...etc. When I settled on a pair I like, they get my address, swipe my card and send me on my way. It was quick, easy and painless. There weren't excessive options to pick from. Their glasses came with UV protection, anti-scratch coating. The only option they have was to get the thin lenses or not. Dr. Brian Dowling gave the best eye examine I've ever had--and, having worn glasses for over 50 years, I've had a few. He helped sort out problems with a recent exam by a doctor at another eye-wear store and the inaccurate prescription/glasses that resulted. He also took time to explain the "floaters" that appeared a few weeks ago and suggested treatment for dry eyes. Finally, he asked one of the staff to check other aspects of the problematic glasses so I could have them remade correctly. Although I had considered getting a new pair from W-P, they don't have--as others have noted--a good selection of frames for wide faces. Apparently, the trendy kids are wearing round and square frames these days, which aren't good for my face shape. I finally made the step from readers to real glasses. I went to Warby and since I am use to multiple pairs of readers it was hard for me to choose just one pair of glasses. The staff was so patient with me and gave me great feedback and advice to help me select the perfect pair. They emailed me the forms to send to my insurance along with my receipt and I was able to take care of my reimbursement right away. My glasses came in faster than what I was promised and I loved them. Unfortunately, I lost my glasses soon after I received them, I was still acting like they were just readers. I called customer service and spoke to Adam, he understood my frustration and anger and was so kind. He worked with me to replace the glasses in a way that worked for both of us. I painlessly bought a pair of glasses today because of the guidance of Jory who patiently helped me figure out which frame shapes would be best for my face and also for my prescription. It was obvious how much Jory believes in the company and how knowledgeable he is about their products. And most of all, it was apparent that he truly cared about helping me find the perfect glasses, which he did. Other employees were also very kind and helpful and provided additional feedback on which frames fit and looked best on me. Josh is the store manager and it appears he is doing it right as all of the employees had just the right balance of being welcoming and helpful but not at all intrusive or pushy. The frames are all so fun and are thoughtfully organized and displayed, and you can try on as many as you want. Very easy and efficient process for ordering glasses. The store carries all their frame styles. I was able to try on frames and take my time. Staff was available to ask questions when I needed. When I decided on a frame, the process to order was quick. I did have my prescription in hand, but you can make an optometrist appointment if needed. The staff member was able to take some measurements and quickly placed my order. All the glasses arrive via USPS. I got my order in just over a week. The glasses are good quality. I did take them back to the store to do an adjustment on the frames and the staff did a great job. Overall a great process for ordering glasses and a much better price than many retail competitors. Not the best customer service experience. The manager at this location, Harrison, is extremely rude, defensive, and condescending. I had trouble returning glasses here because Harrison wanted me to take his word that I have already been credited for the glasses, without giving me a receipt or some kind of confirmation that the glasses were returned. I decided to take the glasses back and just go back to the original place of purchase in Lincoln Park. I had an appointment this weekend for an eye exam, and I am very pleased with the service. The dr was very nice, and funny, and made the experience very comfortable for me. He explained as he went along what he was doing, and made sure I was informed the whole way through. I was not pressured to purchase anything from their store, but was given the information I needed incase I wanted to. I did have time before my appointment to browse, and try on different frames. There is plenty of friendly staff readily available if you have any questions or need a second opinion of the look of a frame. Warby Parker started out as an online retailer of prescription eyeglasses and sunglasses. They gradually began to open brick and mortar stores and now have them in 28 states and Washington DC. The frames are designed inhouse and the acetate is purchased in Italy. The frames are manufactured in China at the same factories that eyeglass frame giant Luxxotica has theirs made. Pricing on the glasses includes the lenses and the company has a donation policy of buy one donate one, which appeals to my left wing hippie sensibilities. The frames are stylish, but not in an obnoxious over the top way. I had my eyes tested there for $75 and the optometrist, Dr. Dowling was professional and pleasant. I purchased two pairs, of which one were sunglasses. Normal lense eyeglasses/sunglasses start at $95. My regular glasses cost $295, as the progressive lenses added $200 and the sunglasses were $375, again the progressive lenses added $200 and the recommended features for sunglasses added the rest. Warby Parker does offer some frames in alternative sizing such as narrow fit and low bridge. I am a narrow fit and wish there were more to choose from, however on the plus side I did pick out both frames in under 15 minutes and did not have to mull over which ones to choose because I could not narrow it down. It takes 7 to 10 business days for your glasses to arrive. On that note, if you cannot find something you like, they do have new styles coming in every month or so. I highly recommend Warby Parker to anyone who favors stylish, but conservative eyeglasses. read more

Made an appointment online for Saturday evening (6:00). Needed to have an eye exam and my prescription checked before school starts back up and I wanted a new pair of glasses that I actually want to wear. Dr. Dowling is so personable and friendly and made the whole experience awesome. The exam took about 25 minutes and he explained how everything looked and how he was going to adjust my prescription. After the appointment you wait around for a few minutes so that they can GIVE you a copy of your prescription (without having to ask which is awesome) and checkout for your appointment. Then I browsed the selection and picked out some cute new frames and the order was placed via iPad and I was on my way! The sales people are SUPER helpful and knowledgeable but not pushy! There is always a free salesperson if you need help and they really do want to help you find a pair that you feel good about. They said to expect the glasses in 7-10 business days, I received mine in 4! The cost without insurance was $200 cheaper than when I had purchased glasses using eye insurance. Review for customer service and home try on. I used Warby Parker's home try -on option bc I couldn't get to the location easily. I was very pleased w how easy this was to do and the fit of the frames I picked. I chose a pair and ordered my prescription. Sadly once I received my glasses the lenses just weren't quite right so I had to return them - I'm pretty sure the strength of my prescription had something to do w this. During this time a new location opened in the Gold Coast near me so I went to this location to return the glasses; I was impressed w the store, the friendliness of the salespeople and how quickly I was helped despite there being other people already in the store. I was offered an exchange but opted to return the glasses completely Also very happy with the customer service, all my questions were answered quickly via email (this is my preferred form of communication) All in all very happy w the service, frame options, and added locations of Warby Parker. So have you all noticed how expensive everything has become and how lots of businesses are silently screwing you to make up for Covid19. Here is #warbyparker scam. I own two sets of computer glasses from them already. When I called to have progressive lenses put in my frames, they told me I had to return my frames and then repurchase them at a $50 discount for them to do this. If I just changed my lenses from computer to computer, they wouldn't charge me, but because I'm going from computer to progressive they would. They told me they are the exact same frames and the woman on the phone couldn't explain this policy as it made no sense to her either. While I was on hold waiting for a customer service agent to come on, they gloated that they have given seven million pairs of frames away. Now I see how they do this. 1) Extremely friendly staff. 2) Aesthetically pleasing store. 3) Glasses were actually $95 (except a few select frames that were $145 but still - cheap). 4) I am super super blind so with my prescription I could use lenses that were "specialized" but were $30 more and since i'm cheap I said no and was not pressured AT ALL by the sales rep to get the slimmer lenses. 5) I got the glasses shipped to my house in 6 days (free shipping) with a glasses case and cleansing cloth. 6) I have 30 days to go exchange for another pair of frames if I want & a year guarantee on scratches. Also you can go into the store for them to fit your glasses if need be after you receive them. Warby Parker is fantastic and I have told every single person I know with glasses to go there. I would actually consider getting a pair of glasses every year now with WP as an option; instead of making my outdated prescription last a year or two too long. read more

At this point, the service is so bad I am wondering if they're intentionally messing with me as some kind of joke. I have ordered 4 pairs of glasses, none of which worked. I have had 2 eye exams, neither of which was accurate. I attempted to get an old prescription reproduced (it still worked but the glasses were broken) they got the Rx wrong. I made an appointment to see the doc to have her fix that Rx- and when I showed up and I wasn't on the Docs calendar. At my correct appointment time, I tried to get help from the front desk people but they still need the doc to sign off on it. They told me it would be 5 min, and I've already been sitting her for 15. I've been here for over thirty minutes from my "appointment time"- and the doc still isn't out. I would never EVER use this company again. I have had glasses for nearly 30 years (since grade school) and I this is far and beyond the WORST glasses experience I have ever had. The won't offer any refund either! The whole thing was incredibly painless from start to finish, and I was in and out in under 40 minutes. Friendly staff at check-in, Dr. Dowling was super pleasant and professional for the eye exam, and then another staff member assisted me while I picked out my pair of sunglasses at the end. There were plenty of options, and when I chose the pair I wanted I gave them my credit card and shipping address and was on my way. The eye exam was $75 and the sunglasses range from $95 (without prescription lenses) to $175 (with prescription lenses). The $175 was a little bit of a surprise as I thought they would run $95 from my website browsing, but it's not at all unreasonable for what you're getting. read more
