My husband paid extra money to expedite his passport 5 weeks before our trip to Mexico. 1 week away and still no passport....yikes! We were not able to get any information about the passport application other than "it's pending" or "you should have it in time". I called Mike Quigley's office and was directed to Mary Ann who promptly contacted the passport agency in NH. The passport agency said it would be done soon....yikes again! Mary Ann was persistent and kept calling. It's two days later we have our passport in hand! Thanks again to Mary Ann and to Mike Quigley for having a terrific staffer!

    I submitted a request for help with a government office due to ongoing issues having my business's…read moretax payments appropriately applied toward the amounts owed. It should be a straightforward solution, and I was able to correct some of the payments' applications myself, but then hit a standstill and needed some advocacy with resolving the rest of them. I went through the online submission process and provided extensive details and documentation, which is quite difficult as I am disabled with multiple conditions that make cognitive effort exceptionally draining and even painful at times. I felt this would be worth it if I actually got the support needed. Initially, I got a quick response from a staff person named Cameron. They asked for additional details which admittedly took me some time to gather from my accountant. I provided this in a follow up email January 5. After no response for weeks, I followed up with a couple emails asking for a status update, and eventually was told via email by Cameron on January 30 that my documentation was passed on to their contact. Over the course of the next few months, I continued to get letters from the tax administrator's office which conveyed conflicting information. (The same day I got 2 letters...one saying they needed more information from me on different forms before they could apply tax payments, and a second letter implying they had all the information they needed and had already determined I had "underpaid" what was due, since they had lost some of the payments.) I also received letters which threatened liens and seizure of assets over this mess, and I continued to get anxious about the status of my advocacy. When I got new documents about this case, I reached back out to Cameron to provide them, thinking that they may be relevant to the status and whatever communication they have with their advocate. I heard nothing in response over the course of the next few months. After getting a letter from the tax office stating a response was needed by April 27 or additional penalties and fines would be added, I sent a new email to Cameron at Quigley's office on April 14 expressing a desire to know whether or not the office intended to be acting on my behalf and if they could respond by this deadline. When I heard nothing back, I called the Chicago office on April 22 and asked to speak to Cameron, but was told he was going into a meeting. I left a message again stating the deadline and just wanting to know whether I could count on their help responding by this quickly approaching deadline. I was told he would call me back the same day. That was 6 weeks ago, and I never heard from him. I still have not received any email or phone call from any staff at this office since January 30, despite 5 emails I sent between then and now, and previous communication from their office in which I was assured they would be actively helping me pursue resolution to this case. This sort of bait and switch is harmful, and it would have been better if they had started off being honest and transparent about not helping me. If they had, I could have tried to get help elsewhere or looked into additional avenues. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1 is that they did indeed pass on some documentation to their contact, which led to a portion of the payments being correctly applied. However, based on the dates listed on the documents I received, it's clear these were not passed on until January 29, after I had to email a couple more times pressing them for updates. If the office is not going to see issues like this through to the end, or if they can only do so much advocacy, then they need to tell their constituents this from the start and not promise support they don't intend to provide - especially in cases where a lack of response will result in costing constituents money or risks them losing assets.
