The girl at the desk never provided any information about anything. I did not know I needed quarters for the locker rental, nor did I not know I couldn't wear a baseball cap or have a crossbody bag. As soon as I got on the rink, the attendant told me I had to get off because of my hat. I wasn't upset or anything, I quietly skated off, returned my skates and gathered my belongings. As I was exiting I observed men on the skating rink with beanies on their heads and skull caps. Additionally I observed adults walking on the rink as they were helping their children. I did not know that the rink was also a track. I would think that's a bigger safety hazard than wearing a hat. When I went to the front to inquire about a refund there was a gentleman in front of me who had on a hat and I was tempted to say something to him but I also wanted to see if the clerk would remind him of the hat policy, but she didn't. I don't know if the assumption is that everyone who visits are regulars and know the protocol, but it wouldn't hurt to have signage at the front desk and to also remind the attendants to say something to the patrons.

Now they do have indoor soccer fields here too and have party hosting capabilities as well. Didn't experience those sides of the business but the soccer fields are typically packed when we stopped by. All in all, great place to come for Skate Lessons or just enjoy an Open Skate evening.

Everyone was positive, enthusiastic, supportive and friendly! There were impromptu conga lines, electric slide dances and smiles aplenty. I must have skated for about 3 hours with only the occasional 3 minute break to catch my breath. In case you got hungry or thirsty, there were small mom n pop food and drink vendors by the entrance charging very reasonable prices. The best part was being amongst such talented skaters! I've only been skating three times now but I feel like I leveled up just by watching others here. Rink #1 has a capacity of 2,500 where as Rink #2 has a capacity of 500. The arena offers ice hockey and ice skating lessons with classes for toddlers to adults. it is the home ice for Livingston and West Orange High School Ice Hockey teams. The Essex Figure Skating Club, as well as, the U.S. Speed Skating. These days I visit the arena during public skating sessions which generally are Friday (4:45-6:15), Saturday & Sunday (11:45-1:15) and (2-3:30 pm). Check their website because special events disrupt the schedule. Graduations, performances by skating stars like Dorothy Hamill and Peggy Fleming and NJIL Cup Finals. Admission for public skating is as follows: adults $10, seniors & military $8, children 15 years and younger $8. Skate rentals are $5 dollars. There is ample parking and the food concession offerings are pretty good.

The coaches are dedicated, and there is such a positive, high-energy atmosphere every time we walk through the doors. One of the nicer parts about this rink is the Living Room Café upstairs. It is a total game-changer for hockey parents! It's fully heated with a perfect bird's-eye view of the ice, so you can stay warm while watching the game. The food is actually really good--much better than your typical rink snacks--and it's the perfect spot to grab a coffee and catch up with other parents. The location is also incredibly convenient. It's tucked right behind the Best Buy and Starbucks off Route 22, which makes it easy to grab a quick coffee on the way in or run a few errands during practice. If you're looking for a great hockey community and a parent-friendly facility in Union County, this is definitely the place to be!

So this is a hidden gem that i almost dont want to review; almost dont want people to know about…read moreit. As a trye yelper however i have to share this find! Competitive swimming pool open daily free of charge to all. When was the last time you had a nice swim for as long as you wanted for free? Like try never! Pool is clean, yes slightly dated but so well maintained. Went there today from 11am to 12, guess how many people there were on all 6 lanes? 4people! By the time i was done: there were 2 left. Yes, location sucks and really this is for people from Newark, Harrison and perhaps Karney to enjoy. Showers are dated and not all work; bring your own hair dryer. But all that doesn't bother me since i can just go home and be there in 5min. Also excellent for kids since they do have baby and toddler depths available. They plan to close it for 15 days renovation but will reopen in Nov. Also i am looking forward to their ice rink hours. Will be available later in fall. Again kids classes avaible for free (from what i hear). All in all i am impressed and will come back!

She was so excited, she now wants her own pair of roller blades. Yes, the rink and exterior around it could use a good paint job, and some of the furniture could use some updating. Overall, a great time was had by all, and I love the fact that this venue is local.
