Ice rink with two sheets of ice, located in Randolph, this used to be known as Aspen Ice rink. Freestyle sessions are $23, and I think you can buy a card to get more sessions at a slightly cheaper price. They have ice year-round and they also have rooms upstairs for you to reserve if you want to do exercise classes, I see a lot of yoga and other classes getting out of those. Plenty of hockey at the rink as well as I see the little kids filing in now. They have public ice sessions, learn to skate, learn to play and other types of group sessions. Left my skates off at the main desk and they told me they would get them to the pro shop to be sharpened. When I went to pick them up they could not find them. I was originally told by the manager that they would replace my skates if they were not found. I was then contacted by the general manager by email and told that they are not responsible for lost items. She lied about the employee telling me I was informed of this when I handed them in. She then blocked my email and phone and refused to talk to me. This is a very poor way to treat a customer and run a business. read more

Terrible, terrible, terrible experience!! Skaters beware! My partner took our niece (9yo) to open skate on a Tuesday morning and this was their experience. My partner asked the staff for a helmet for our niece and was met with "we don't rent out helmets, look in the lost and found", luckily there was one there. When they got out on the ice, there were a group of kids skating around and eating food which was dropped all over the ice and represents a safety hazard. One of the kids was somehow given control of the music in the facility which he cranked up so loud, the speakers were distorted. If my niece was in any kind of trouble, my partner wouldn't have been able to hear her yell. The kids were also play fighting which is not safe to do around inexperienced skaters. The BIGGEST issue is that there was absolutely ZERO supervision from the facility on the ice. My partner lost her balance, fell and hit the back of her head pretty hard and NO ONE was there to check on her. I'm not saying that had someone been there, it would've prevented her from falling; but had she been really injured, who was there to help? How can a skating facility allow ANYONE on the ice without watching them? It's a total free-for-all. Would not recommend until they revise their operating practices; also, clean up the facility, it is dirty and has a very foul odor. read more

I have been playing hockey here for twenty years. This was once a nice place and well kept under prior management. No more! Since being taken over by private equity investors a few years ago, the facility has not fared well. The locker rooms are filthy with unusable facilities; and with bathrooms and showers that smell like urine and are never properly cleaned. Most of the locker rooms contain out-of-service toilets/showers; sporadic hot water; broken sinks. The locks on the locker room doors are either not secure or missing. The ice surfaces are not well kept, with gores along the sideboards. Recently, one of the two sheets was mothballed for two months because a chiller could not be repaired in a reasonable amount of time; and a Zamboni broke down, mid ice resurfacing. It is clear that the owners are simply interested in collecting exorbitant program fees for which very little value is provided in return. Mennen Arena provides a much better experience and if it ever decides to reinstate competitive adult hockey leagues, there will be a mass exodus and this place will close. read more

Sports Care Arena in Randolph, New Jersey is one of the premiere ice arenas in Morris county, the other being Mennen Arena. The arena has two ice rinks which are maintained with their Zamboni. I'm interested in their public skating ($10) admission for adults, as well as, their 18 team adult hockey league. The league is not about bone crushing but rather skating and passing. The arena also offers Friday night (7:30) DJ skating, $12, summer camp hockey for kids, learn to skate classes, figure skating (free style), $20 or free style with instructor, $20 + instructor fee. Katie Hannenmann is very good with the kids and an excellent instructor.. Birthday party packages are also available. Lots of teens like to skate on the weekend and the rinks can be crowded. Weekdays are by-in-large free of skaters. Many of the High School hockey teams in the area practice here like Randolph and Delbarton. They even have time set aside for home schooled children on Wednesday. The bottom line is that this arena provides a full aray of ice skating opportunities. read more

I came here for friday night public skate and it was pretty bad. the speakers playing the music were fried, the volume was so low so i'm guessing they're broken. someone spilled a drink, started mixing shaved ice into it and started throwing it at his friends and no one stopped him. there was tons of trash all over the ice which no one cleaned up and is a huge hazard. maybe have your staff tell customers to not endanger others! read more

I need to give an amazing review for our daughters figure skating coach at Aspen Ice. Her name is Silvia D'Avola and she truly cares about her job and her students. Her love and passion for skating just shines through. She takes the time to really get to know my daughter and is helping with her confidence on a whole new level. Silvia's teaching her not to give up and to be confident in her level of skating. I could go on and on about how wonderful she is! She truly is one-of-a-kind teacher!! Our Son Aiden started skating (if you want to call it that) at Aspen Randolph in the Learn to Skate Program a year and a half ago. He has gone from Snow Plow Sam 1 to currently being enrolled in Hockey 3/4 Learn to Skate. He also will be participating in his second session of Cross Ice for Mites starting in March 2016. We enjoy the smaller groups and he loves going every week. He now actually skates pretty well, even backwards! Now if he could just get that stick handling down. Aspen has viewing from above in both (2) rinks if you want to watch inside heated areas, or you can step outside if you want to listen to the action. There is a concession stand, game room, and some vending machines as you would expect from a rink. Also, the Pro Shop is nicely stocked with a bigger selection just down the same street by the same ownership if they happen to not have the size you need. Buying our first hockey helmet there was an easy experience with the staff at Middlebury Sports. All in all a first class facility for hockey kids of all ages. I'm giving it a thumbs up! read more

Both of my grandchildren love going to Aspen Ice. They have been in the Learn to Skate and the Learn to Play Hockey programs in in 1 year they have taught them so many skills. The staff are friendly and helpful. The facility is extremely clean and the food is great. They have actual seats not those aluminum benches you find at most rink. They have a real nice Hockey shop and a pretty good second rink. Ice skating rink is small. The layout of the place is very cramped... When you walk into the building there 's the game room, pro shop, food and the rentals are in the rink which makes for a very crowed area. Feels like the rink is half the size of morristown rink you can't walk around it like morristown. Morristown has seating around the whole rink. The ice was very rough during open skate .. And for 2 skate and rental was 27 dollars 7 more then morristown. Probably not go again. Parents seem to like it cus they have those walkers for toddlers but most of the toddlers seem to hate the walkers and the parents end up carrying them around. So we are alittle happier with morristown mennen arena it was less expensive, layout was nice, they had free helmet bin for kids, large rink and great seating and walking space around the rink( which was a bonus for me cus I had a baby in stroller while my 5 year old skated by himself. ) read more

Poorly managed. Actually dangerous at the undisciplined public sessions. I have seen one person knocked unconscious last summer at a free skate. The rink staff are very polite, but all are young and inexperienced and not in control. A lot of really poor skaters going way too fast for their abilities, playing tag, skating the wrong way etc. Also clandestine private lessons going on. In a well-run rink these folks would be tossed, get their money back etc. read more

I have been playing men's league ice hockey at this rink for the last 3 years and have seen things go from bad to worse. games with no refs, poor scheduling and worst of all, a league with no back bone when it comes to discipline. Players who should have been permanently kicked out for intentionally trying to hurt other players sliding by with 1 or 2 game suspensions that are not even enforced. This is my last season as a full time player at this rink. read more

Horrible service. Skate rental employees have a pair of our shoes to the wrong person. Pam the manager refused to refund us our admission price. She called us a liar and said it is not their responsibility for giving our shoes away. They made us leave in someone else's dirty old shoes. Horrible customer service. read more

Great views of the rink. Good food...snack bar could have been staffed more but it is an ice rink...not a restaurant...Skate rentals were old but bearable. Double rinks make it easy the get there for public times. Definitely will be making the trip up there more often! read more

My twin daughters have been enrolled in the Learn to Skate Program for a year and a half and have progressed to Level 7. All of the instructors have provided excellent coaching and have helped my girls develop a real love of the sport. When my daughters' other sports conflicted with the planned sessions for Level 7, the director of the program added another session so that my daughters wouldn't miss the late Spring session. I was so appreciate of their flexibility! When the rink gets too cold for my blood or I have work to do, I take my computer and watch from the heated observation deck. The snack bar is really good, particularly the warm pretzels! The public skate is rarely overcrowded. I do agree that the Skate Staff could be a bit more assertive with those not observing the safety rules, but in my experience this has not been a big problem. read more

I would highly recommend Silvia D'Avola who is my daughter's ice skating teacher. My daughter is currently 5 years old and Silvia is very good with getting her to learn complicated moves and keep her interested. Silvia is also very accommodating with the parents' needs especially when it comes to availability and flexibility of skating time. I was also able to express my concerns with Silvia without hesitation because she made me feel at ease. I feel Silvia is very good with kids and her love for kids can be seen clearly when she interacts with my daughter and the other kids during the class. Silvia is very confident and a skilled skater and has been a great role model for my daughter. I would recommend Silvia to anyone who wishes to have their children learn to skate at whatever level. read more

The entire staff at Aspen has made for such a wonderful experience. My son started in the learn to skate program at age 3. He's now 5 and playing in the Freeze development program. The instructors and coaches truly care, they take each kids' abilities into account and spend plenty of time with them. When we showed up once and lessons were canceled due to snow, the staff gave me a pair of rentals and let my son and I skate by ourselves for a while. They work with you, the facility is great and they have a lot of great programs for all abilities and types of skating and hockey. I highly recommend anyone getting their kids into skating or hockey to start here. read more

My 9 year old daughter was invited there over this past weekend for a birthday party. She has only been on the ice 2x before. We asked for a walker, but were denied due to her height. While my daughter sat crying, I went to the young lady behind the counter and asked for one just until my daughter became comfortable. She granted this and as my daughter was in the middle of the rink skating, another worker came onto the ice and took it away from her. When I asked why, she said this was not for her as she is too talk. I asked to see the manager. She informes me that this is a liability; mind you...I signed a waiver. I asked what do you do when an adult wants to get on the ice; her answer was they hold the wall. When I asked them manager why she DID NOT have other sizes she informed me that they did not make them. SHE SHOULD HAVE NOT LIED TO ME. There are many companies who make them; just check the internet. She CHOSE NOT TO BUY THEM. My daughter and other taller girls sat crying. What a great way to enjoy a birthday party!! What POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! Due yourself a favor and check out other places to have your child's party. You're spending all your money for young girls/boys to sit there and not have fun. They will go home crying. I would also like to add that we as parents watched our kids which is fine with me, but the ONLY time there was a representative around is when someone got hurt on the ice. There wasn't just a birthday party going on that day....it was also public skating hours. read more
