Sports Care Arena in Randolph, New Jersey is one of the premiere ice arenas in Morris county, the other being Mennen Arena. The arena has two ice rinks which are maintained with their Zamboni. I'm interested in their public skating ($10) admission for adults, as well as, their 18 team adult hockey league. The league is not about bone crushing but rather skating and passing. The arena also offers Friday night (7:30) DJ skating, $12, summer camp hockey for kids, learn to skate classes, figure skating (free style), $20 or free style with instructor, $20 + instructor fee. Katie Hannenmann is very good with the kids and an excellent instructor.. Birthday party packages are also available. Lots of teens like to skate on the weekend and the rinks can be crowded. Weekdays are by-in-large free of skaters. Many of the High School hockey teams in the area practice here like Randolph and Delbarton. They even have time set aside for home schooled children on Wednesday. The bottom line is that this arena provides a full aray of ice skating opportunities.

Had a blast today. My oldest son had his first lesson, he was great but the instructor was so patient and kindhearted. Today was the first day of Basic lessons for beginners. He really has his heart set on Hockey and I'm sure he will do great with the positive energy from Aspen.

I would highly recommend Silvia D'Avola who is my daughter's ice skating teacher.

I have never seen an event like this in person, so I did the long drive and went to Morristown. As soon as you walk into the place it STINKS!!! Smells like a sewerage problem, it definitely hits you, I'll tell you that much. Nevertheless, I was there for the event and was very pleased. The women were tough, took a few good hits, and were very into the game. The event was about 2 hours long and not a dull moment. They also had a few vendors that sold jewelry, pizza, soda and t-shirts during halftime to purchase. I would definitely do this again, it was fun, the crowd was going, and definitely a sport that people don't appreciate. After watching it, I gained a lot of respect for the game and cant wait to go to another one!! http://www.rawmeatvancouver.com/how-to-play-roller-derby/ -- Rules to the game.

After the fall season field hockey moves inside to a completely different game and rinks like this are the perfect venue for practices. I haven't been here for anything other than her practices, so I don't know what it's like for roller derby or floor hockey, but for indoor field hockey-it works. The venue has plenty of space for parents to sit around and watch or read or just chat, but I can't imagine it would be great if it was crowded for some kind of actual competition. The parking is a bit of a nightmare and the place really isn't big enough for when we have 6-8 teams practicing at the same time as there is only one rink. It's convenient, it's got a great surface, and it works for us so I don't have too much to complain about... The place is fairly clean, but because the athletes that use this place tend to have REALLY smelly equipment you can definitely smell it when you walk in. I'm used to it, but it does take some getting used to. I know we will continue to practice here so I hope this winter season is as laid back as the others have been.

Thankfully it was warmish for this time of year as I was afraid being in the mountains we would be freezing. It is $5 to get in to park your car which is totally fine. Not only do you have access to the ice-skating rink area but you can also hike locally and explore the surroundings. You were literally inside of a mountain range so if you like walking and exploring it is all there for you. Gorgeous area! It is $5 to enter the ice skating area and $10 to rent the skates. I feel that is reasonable getting an hour and a half worth of time and not feeling over powered by a crowd... I was definitely digging it. I have not been ice-skating for at least 10 years. The last time was at Chelsea Piers in New York City which was a totally different vibe. I enjoyed myself I can see returning throughout the winter. Everyone we dealt with from when we initially entered the park to helping us with the purchase of tickets and assisting with the rentals were pleasant. I'm guessing local college students. There were several employees on the ice as well and I saw them helping out when kids and adults were falling. They weren't extra but they weren't unpleasant so happy to have them there to help us. Glad I tried out this place and looking forward to future memories here.

Pretty much…read moreevery indoor roller rink in the city closed during the pandemic (except the outdoor rink at Brooklyn Bridge Park), so when this place opened people absolutely lost their minds. Walking in feels like stepping straight back into childhood in the best way possible. Neon lights, funky carpet, bright colors, all the nostalgic roller rink vibes you could want. One thing I really love is that unlike most rinks that only do one adults-only night a week, Xanadu switches to 21+ after 8 PM almost every night. It ends up feeling way more like a nightclub than a traditional roller rink, and you don't have to worry about drinking around kids or dodging little ones flying across the floor. They've also got a concession stand with Frito pies, four different kinds of hot dogs, and plenty of snacks if you need a break. Definitely check the website before you go because this isn't the kind of roller rink where you just show up and pay seven bucks to skate. They host different events almost every night, and each one has its own cover charge. It's usually somewhere between $11 and $25, and can go up to around $33 if there's a musical guest, but honestly it's always felt worth it to me. I've caught some great local performers there along with iconic '90s dance acts like Ultra Naté. Lockers are $5 and you'll need a credit card to use them. I 100% recommend this place whether you're looking for a fun night out, trying to pick up a new hobby, or just want to do something different with friends. I swear once you go and see everyone doing tricks, showing off, and having the best time, you're going to want to come back and learn a few moves yourself. It's great solo, great with friends, and skating is definitely a workout, so be prepared to sweat. Dress cute, but keep it breezy.

For skating, they have a large, oval wooden roller rink floor, just they had in the 70's & 80's all around NYC and the boroughs. Killer DJ's & awesome song selections keep the energy going for both concerts & skating. This is a truly unique spot that's perfect for young kids & everyone else up to their 60's or so. (I'd cut it off after that as it's loud & most Seniors wouldn't like the volume & probably shouldn't be roller skating, unless they really know what they're doing). Love that this place exists - it's MAGICAL!!!
