When I asked to be placed on a waitlist for a book, I had to repeatedly ask basic follow-up question like how many people were ahead of me (it would have been helpful to know there were 10) and how I would be notified when it became available. None of this information was offered upfront, and getting answers felt like pulling teeth. A library should feel welcoming and informative, especially for new visitors. I hope the staff can improve communication and customer service moving forward. If you don't like your job, please find another one.

I called in advance to ask if I could rerun the book through inter-library loan from our college library, located in the same town. They told me I must return the book physically. So I traveled and paid the parking to return the book. At soon as I entered the entrance, I was stopped abruptly by asking a tag to enter. I said I just need to return the book and I showed her my institute id. She said " actually return the book right here!!!!' I might misunderstand her, but if I were told that I just need to return the book to the guard and it would be less shocking to me.

After driving down upper King St. and seeing the beautiful mural on the side of the building, we decided to park and stop in. We were so pleasantly suprised! The library itself is rather small, but it certainly has everything you need and more. There are books of myriad genres for all ages groups, computer access, and chairs and tables to sit and read or study or do work. What was so wonderful to me though was all this library had to offer to its community members. Right when you walk in there is a recipe board where you can take a recipe or leave a recipe to share with others. There is a fridge and baskets with actual food and ingredients in it, in case you need a snack or need the ingredients to make a recipe (FOR FREE!) There are resources on how to create a resume, write a cover letter, and how to apply for a job. There's even a binder that has a list of open job offerings in the local area. The resume tip sheet was no joke either. As someone in academia, even I could use this because they had a list of action verbs that were so relevant to applying for a position! The activities for youth were also prevalent within the store. They had a little Kids Cafe they advertised as well as these wonderful book kits (See my pictures for more detail and information). These kits were different themes, whether it be for Manners, Bathing, Lions, Bears, Space, whatever it is you're teaching, with a handful of books related to the theme, related puppets, games, and toys. These are dedicated in memory of Cynthia Hurd and are FREE to check out - a perfect resource for a parent, teacher, Sunday School teacher, etc. We did ask about donating books, DVDs, games, etc., and the librarian told us that for all Charleston County libraries, donations go to the Friends of the Library and not directly to the library. They are then sold and then the money comes back indirectly. In the future, this is something I am definitely going to do as I clean out old books, DVDs, and board games or puzzles. I came here to use the computer recently as mine wasn't working at home. My first overall view is…read morethat the library is very well stocked and very clean. They have a bunch of tables and computers to use as well. There was a very nice man who worked there and helped me with the computer and printing some papers for me. I liked him very much. The down side of this place is that it appears to be somewhere that parents drop off their undisciplined kids and leave them. The only computer available was among a group of young kids who were loudly playing computer games. There was an employee who had to tell them several times to be quiet. The young lady at the front desk was helpful but very unpleasant to talk to. She looked annoyed that she had to help me. Overall, I was able to get done what I needed, but I wouldn't come here again. Too many loud kids taking up computers.

Like a self-checkout at the supermarket, it's great for the introverts that don't want to have a conversation. What a great library! We decided to check it out one weekday and so happy we did. It is newer and…read morehas so many things to do. The children's area, our main reason for going, was amazing. Story time rooms, education rooms, computers with educational games, reading nooks in the windows, beautifully designed book shelves and displays, a cool "shark room" which was a reading area with dome windows all around with sharks displayed and a lovely outside area to read. The staff was very helpful and patient with the kids. They helped with the scavenger hunt that they had for children and went over different programs and events they had coming up. It's a little bit of a hike for us, but we will continue going there. My daughter absolutely loves it and tells everyone about it.
