Well, I don't hold out much hope. A week ago I called to arrange an appointment as a new patient. I gave them ALL of the info they requested. I was assured I'd receive an email to access the patient portal. I called again today and spoke with Ashanti, as I did not receive the email. They put down the wrong email address. I gave Ashanti the correct email address, a couple of times, voicing phonetics ("pappa" for P, "Mike" for M, etc). Again I didn't receive the email. I asked if they could mail the new patient packet. A supervisor gets on the call & says it could take 24 hours to receive an email!!! He offers to give me the help desk for Optum, who they contract with for their communications. I asked him to read the address they have for my email. He reads my correct email address, but with ".com" at the end. I told him my email address does not end in '.com" and that I never told Ashanti to add ".com" at the end. I told him the correct email address. Within seconds (not 24 hours) I received the email to access the patient portal. Folks, this is a "professional" medical practice!!! Truly Frightening! read more

I have been waiting for over a month now for a referal to see a neurologist. It took 3 weeks to issue one that was sent to a doctor that hasn't worked there for 5 years. So it has to be reissued (corrected), going on a week now. Have not had full use of my hand and armed going on 3 months now. Fortunately the pain subsided a month ago, mostly numb now. I've been a patient for 10 years or so. I had really liked the practice. Since Optum took over, it has become difficult to use. The office wants you to use an app called My Chart to send messages though, but I have waited 7 days for a response to my billing question. I needed to be seen for a sick appointment, but my usual doctor didn't have any openings according to the scheduling office, so I got the next available with a different doctor. Now, the ladies at the front desk had told me that you can message them through the app to get a same day appointment if you feel unwell because they have access to other appt times that the central scheduling doesn't. Not sure how that is supposed to happen when no one is checking the messages. Anyways, I saw the doctor I made an appt with and the scheduling people did not tell me the copay for this doctor is 4 times the cost of my regular doctor. He was $80, she is $20. The Front desk said they changed the copay to $20 an l thought all was good. No - they billed me the remainder. I'll be looking for a different practice for myself and my husband to take care of us for a reasonable copay amount. read more

I have been a patient here for 2 years, give or take. For the most part, it's been acceptable. The 2 healthcare people I saw here were very good. My issue is NOT with the healthcare people.....it's with Optum and the way they run the place. Sad, at best. As of 1Jan25, Optum has decided to no longer accept Tricare For LIfe as a Medicare Gap supplemental. With the huge contingency of military people in the Valley, I find this a slap in the face! I will find myself another doctor's office!!! And apparently, I wasn't the only one who had issues with how Optum ran the business. One of the healthcare people I saw felt the same way and left....just like I'm doing. It's the reason I needed to change to the 2d healthcare person. I was a long time patron (decades) at Warner Family Practice and had started going there in the late 90's at their old location. My PCP was Mike Hutson. Mike retired and I was moved to Paul Borgeson. I had a lithotripsy procedure done which didn't go well and was causing daily nausea and flank pain that went on for months. I was also having mental issues (mostly emotional). I made an appointment to go in and see Paul. Paul looked me in the face and told me there was nothing he could do for me. That was the last straw for me. It turned out that I had a 4cm brain tumor in my frontal lobe and was told by my neurosurgeon that it could have killed me. This went undiagnosed by my pcp (Paul Borgeson) at WFP/OPTUM. This was a bad diagnosis (actually no diagnoses because Paul told me there was nothing he could do). I experienced all the things you're seeing on this post and more. High prices, price gouging, billing issues and poor service. I got very irritated when they kept wanting to push things that were not covered by my insurance for their own financial gain. I haven't been back there now for several years. They were once an amazing doctor's office but got way to greedy. Another thing that really bothered me was that when I went for a physical typically they would charge me the copay the first visit and then the follow-up visit they would not but the last several times I went there they had changed that and they were charging a copy for every visit. They just got way too greedy. I cannot recommend this doctor's office. When a doctor tells you there's nothing he can do and you later find out you have a life threatening tumor then it's time to move on. There is always something you could do Mr Borgeson. You failed me sir! WFP/OPTUM failed me. Looking back on it I believe OPTUM was their demise. Final statement: Money/Cost is nothing compared to the lack of good health care that almost killed me. Well, you can change your name to escape a bad reputation but if you don't change your practices it really doesn't matter. Unacceptable hold times--17th in line. Have a job too and can't be on the phone for 45 minutes trying to make an appointment that they cancelled. For the second time. No cancellation list I can be put on. Instead I will "have to call every day" to see if there are any cancellations, and thus, be put in the hold queue again. And the response, apathetic. Seems to be the norm anywhere you go anymore. If I didn't like my actual physician that happens to work fur this shit show, I'd go somewhere else. read more

They make coding errors and do not correct them. I received a bill for over $600 from Lab Co . Optum (I think is Warner Family Practice's new company name) told me it was coded wrong. They indicated they would correct it but I keep receiving bills and no responses from Optum. Next step, notifying Medicare. read more

My wife is hypoglycemic and they left her in the waiting room until she almost passed out just to find out the doctor wasn't even there. Been going to this doctor since birth . Dr. Turner was the doctor who delivered me back in the 80's. I hate to say it put I'm parting ways with this doctors office. Ever since they switched to OPTUM I can not get through to make an appointment. I'm just put on hold . The longest I've waited was 30 mins . That is absolutely ridiculous!! The doctor I see is doctor kapoor which idk if she still there anymore because I can't get through to anyone! After looking at these other reviews it shows I'm not alone . I'm also not going to drive all the way from San tan valley just to make an appointment so unfortunately I'm going to have to find a new doctor. You guys should have never went corporate ! Since they have been sold off, the quality of care has dropped considerably. Doctors literally tell you they are not allowed to spend more than 15 minutes for initial orientation while charging the insurance for a full hour. Their annual preventative care is a joke. They order blood draw and go over the results and send you home. In overall not much medical integrity to mention. I hope they fix their work ethics before they get into serious trouble read more

They sceduled me for my routine appt BUT never told me that due to the new change they didnt take my insurance. They kept my appt and even scheduled me the following day for an xray even though they knew my insjrance no loner was received by them. I only found out months later when I got an almost $600 bill. I tried to go into the office to resolve this but was told "manager isn't here and well have her call you back" this was weeks ago! No follow up. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. read more

Saw the entire lobby get called back twice while I was there. When I was checking in, another elderly man asked for assistance with a bill he received for over $500 for lab work for his annual Medicare check up. He said that he was a patient there for 30 years. This is OPTUM's fault. He told me on his way out that at his physical this year they didn't do anything compared with his previous visits. MOVE ON! Find another provider! I went to Warner Family Practice AKA Apricus Medical Group for over a year. I liked it that they did so many tests even though I thought many were unnecessary. They know exactly what is covered by my insurance. My doctor seemed focused on testing everything. Part of me liked it and part of me questioned the need for so many tests on a healthy woman. Scheduling sucked. In December I went in for an adjustment on my blood pressure meds and she drew blood so they had to reschedule my January physical because it was too soon to get labs again for my insurance to pay for it. I find it interesting the doctors know what the insurance will and won't pay. The dr said I could come in the end of February. Scheduling said nothing available until April 19th. So today was April 19th. I drove over in stop-and-go rush hour traffic and was 7 minutes late and they said they would have to reschedule me until June. Unless you want a crappy experience with doctors focused on making the hospital money vs true patient care, don't go to Warner Family Practice. They don't even follow their own policy of 10 min late and you reschedule...it was up to Dr. Jamison, (Who in reality is not a doctor at all...she is a nurse...but they call her doctor), said. Also, in a year and multiple appointments, I had always been early...no grace from Warner Family Practice or Dr. Jamison. They don't care which is not what I want in a doctor...or should I say a nurse. read more

Impossible to call the office. The recording will just loop you around and around. To get a person, you have to hit #3 to pay bill, and then when you tell them you just want your MRI results, they put you right back in the loop. Finally got my test results with several issues that are causing me so much terrible pain. I was told I would be contacted with information to be referred to a specialist to begin treatment. 3 weeks later, I've still not been called, still in awful pain, and still can't get through to anyone in the office. I am on hold and outgoing message says I am 14th in line with over a 15 minute hold time. With 14 people on hold I question that! I received a notification from my insurance company (Cigna) today that they will need a bit more clarification of why my chest CT scan is being recommended or it will not be covered. As a result, I have placed this call to Warner Family Practice to make sure my NP has sent the required info in as my appt is in 4 days!! Yikes! As a result, I am forced to sit on hold and God only knows if I get an answer or if a message will be sent to my PT or her assistant and then wonder if they got it in time. Update, Noelle in their call center answered the phone after about 15 minutes, was very rude and then hung up on me before I was done speaking. I need to find another provider, they have gotten so very bad over the years. Latest update, I called back in so that I could voice my complaint about Noelle's rudeness but the outgoing message was that I would now be 18th in line and a 20 minute hold. I am busy and just cannot do this. So maddening!!! UPDATE! Called back in today to see if I need to cancel my CT scan since I have heard from no one at WFP. I am on hold, 13th in line... UGH!!! It is now December 16th, 2024 and I have left additional messages, told that it would be escalated and still no calls. Have now spent a total of about 3 hours on hold and still nothing other then that a supervisor will call me. I cannot get any information on my last blood test results, my CT scan results or my pap smear results and its been weeks now. I Find another medical practice because this one only wants to heard you in like cattle, bill the insurance company and then can't even complete your medical visit with the results!! read more

I need to talk to someone in charge NOW! This billing department is threatening to sue my son who has SMI, no job, no money because they continue to say he didn't have insurance (ACCCHS) when he did. So this $505 bill falls on me. APRICUS LOCKBOX billing for WARNER FAMILY PRACTICE refuses to listen. I have NO money. My tax accountant screwed me over by not telling me to up my deductible out of a pension (my pay) last year and not only did she charge me a $580 office visit but I owe the federal government $3,350 immediately plus on-going penalties and late fees. My husband died in 22 after 10 1/2 months away with Covid. It was HELL on earth for me and my family. WARNER FAMILY PRACTICE (NOW PRIMARY CARE) refuses TO LISTEN to me. It's all about money and refusing to admit their billing department screwed up. They just want to give me a heart attack by threatening to take me to court!!!!! I will have a heart attack if they don't CEASE AND DESIST!!! My heart was in Afib last August while visiting my son and I ended up in the hospital with now a $2K bill which I'm paying $5/month. What the hell is wrong with these businesses????!!! There is NO HUMAN COMPASSION LEFT. Warner just continues to harass me by sending pre-printed letters telling me we're wrong. If they didn't accept my son's insurance, they should have not let him go through with the appointment. They're saying it was in February 2023. HE HAD INSURANCE!!!!!!!!!!! THE HEALTHCARE IN AMERICA IS BROKEN. I FOUND THIS OUT WHEN NO ONE TOOK CARE OF MY HUSBAND 7/22-6/23 IN THE UNSKILLED NURSING FACILITIES. I went every day to insure my husband wasn't neglected. One nurse to 28 patients in Plaza Healthcare was unacceptable. See my review. When meeting with his doctor, who was on the board of this place to ask questions, he recorded me. It's called CYA; cover your ass. Warner and Optum were merging in June 23. I witnessed screw ups in their system on more than one occasion. Pleasantly surprised by my time with Mary today. She reviewed my labs and since I'm a control freak pretty much knew what to expect. I saw some typical results for my genetics and diet, so pushed back on some immediate suggestions. But, after a longer conversation, I really appreciated her feedback. Her thoughtful approach to recommending subtle changes to diet and supplements was excellent! I'm glad I ran late for my appointment on Tuesday, and they wouldn't budge on their 15 minutes late (I ran 20 and called ahead, but no grace). It worked out in the end two days later on Thursday, but still a little bitter with their policy. I can't remember how many times I've been received late by WFP over the years ... when I show up on time. Maybe we should charge our healthcare providers when they run late? I have been with Warner Family practice for about 20 years. It was a wonderful one-stop center founded and overseen by Dr. Merle Turner. You had the same primary physician for many years and could usually see him/her in the next day if urgent. Annual physicals were a breeze as almost all tests could be carried out in house. Unfortunately Dr. Turner retired a few years ago and has had to watch his creation sytematically dismembered. Live-well was split off and what was left was taken over by chains - first Apricus and now Optum or both - it is hard to tell. No-one knows what is going on, and the people still working that I know are quietly apologetic and concerned. There is a chronic shortage of staff and a large churn. You are more likely to see a PA than a doctor (not always bad). The front staff struggles - I called Monday to say I was leaving for another practice and was on hold for 20 mins and then transfered to a mail box that was "full". I did get through this morning after 20 mins and cancelled all future appointments. No interest taken in why I was leaving - I guess it is common at the moment - and at least frees up resources for others. Maybe someone can get this train back on the tracks - I hope so - but until you start seeing reports different from this - my advice is to stay away. This is not an isolated example in the valley - doctors offices joining these chains who value efficiency over patient care. I see it in many of the specialist offices I go to. But Warner Family Practice does seem to be uniquely sufferring. Dr Turner took decades building this wonderful and pretty unique facility and corporate medicine has managed to come in and undo most of that work in two or three years. read more

Had my very first's appointment with this practice which is now called Optum Care Warner. After reading all these past negative reviews I was certainly surprised by how things moved smoothly well. I would like to give a shout out to Mary Burton she was very detailed during my exam a lot of information was given to me about my health concerns. Also, props to her medical assistant Violet, She explained what was gonna be happening during my physical exam and was very friendly. Optum took over Warner Family Practice sometime in 2024. Optum failed to accurately rollover my medical records and appointments, thereby causing me to resubmit personal and insurance information, along with failing to alert me that my current appointment was cancelled and had to be reset for two months down the road thereby causing me to miss my 2024 Medicare wellness checkup. Previously, in July 2024 Optum failed to adequately staff its facility and my six month in-house checkup was incomplete and had to be rescheduled at outside facilities. Plus, there were no snacks to quell lightheadness after fasting and bloodwork. The only good comment I have is to support Dr. Adia Taylor whose expertise and manner I respect. I shall be looking for another senior care clinic. Optum mishandled its takeover. read more

I'm not able to access my medical records online nor am I able to do anything in the portal at all since I don't even have a link to the portal. The website is not even close to being up to date and wait times on the phone can be obscene. Liked my original doctor. Son got switched to a NP that he likes. Just can't get an appointment. Yes will try calling or drive over (15 miles) to make the appointment face to face. I read all of the negative reviews this morning before my appointment (I thought oh gosh what did I get myself into when I read them) but they were totally proven wrong! It is one of the best primary care appointments I've had. This was my first physical with the practice and Mary was so thorough, pleasant, and knowledgeable- and she explained exactly what she was doing and why. I ended up having several tests and ALL of the technicians and staff were so friendly and charming! I had nice chats with each of them from the phlebotomist/EKG tech to the X-Ray tech to the woman who checked me out. I am so pleased I found this practice! read more

I have called 3 times to try and get my prescription approved and they tell me they sent the email!!!! My pharmacy also called 3 times and got nowhere. This place is awful. The front desk staff are rude and screw up your scheduled appointments. I only found out they screwed up my appointment because I called in to see if I could get an appointment sooner. It's so incredibly unacceptable that I have to miss work TWICE now due to their mistake. Sure everyone makes mistakes but all you do is schedule appointments and you couldn't even figure out if I was being seen by the correct provider? Nor could you adjust the scheduled appointment of mine that you screwed up? Don't go here. The providers may be great but the office staff is illiterate and incompetent. read more

I've been a patient here for 20 years. Loved the place when it was privately owned. Comprehensive exams, a lot of testing in house, it was awesome. Since Optum has bought it, it's a shit show. Staff that had been there for years left, it's disorganized, and little regard for patient care and timely appointments, which makes zero sense, considering how much LESS time you spend speaking with your Doctor and how little in house testing is done now. So longer wait times and if you need a test, you guessed it, another appointment. The absolute worst though is their patient portal. They give you the wrong code from the beginning and NOBODY will help you get a new one, nor will they get you into the portal for you. I had a chest X-RAY done 3 weeks ago and I don't know my results and I called requesting them and was told I would receive an email with a records request form to fill out because they won't even tell the patient their results over the phone. I never got the email either. STAY AWAY from Optum. They should change their name to NOPETUM. read more

Before being acquired by Optum, Warner was easily a 5 star provider. Since the acquisition, it is a mess. And it is not the Warner operation. Staff both clerical and medical staff are great. It is Optum that is the problem. I called to get my diabetes test strip prescription renewed. The are no calls that go directly to the Warner office. Instead they go thru a call center. I called and was informed i was 18 on the waiting list. Drove to the office and there was no calls there. was told Optum's system does not permit direct calls. Staff stated the cll center was undermanned. Also received a bill from LabCorp for the quarterly blood workup because of the need to track my A1C and my kidney and liver functions and cholesterol. My doctor included a wellness exam which although routine is covered with Medicare which restricts approval on routine exams/procedures. The blood workup was not routine which has always been Medicare approved. Somehow the system tied the blood workup to the Health Screen exam, I received a $1,375 bill because Medicare refused to accept it and because I signed a standard waiver agreeing to pay what Medicare wouldn't and I had to get with my doctor regarding the codes. He coded it correctly but the system changed it because it can't differentiate one visit but 2 separate procedures. That took 3 visits. If not for my relationship and confidence with my Doctor, I and my wife would be gone. I can only rate them a 1 star because yelp doesn't allow a lower rating. read more
