After I posted my review, Dr. Brink contacted me privately. Rather than taking responsibility or offering an apology, she insisted that I must have been mistaken about which animal hospital I had the experience with. Instead of addressing my concerns, she dismissed them entirely. I was sent home without receiving services that I had paid for. I later discovered that the internal client communication log contained unprofessional comments about me--comments that clients are not allowed to see. On top of that, I was labeled as a "denied services" client. My concern is that this notation and the accompanying comments are viewed by other veterinary hospitals potentially influencing how I am treated in the future. read more

We just moved to the area and started as new clients here. My dog gets monthly medication and we were told they needed a heads up to order it in advance so I call a week before he needs the medication, they tell me it will be in by next week. I call the following Wednesday they say they got the medication so I make an apt for that Friday. Apt is at 11am I get there at 10:50, they don't take him until 11:20, they have him in the back for 10 mins, bring him back out front and tell me THEY DONT HAVE THE MEDICATION!! Absolutely ridiculous! Disrespectful of my time, my gas money, horrible organization and preparation on their end. Never going back because how am i supposed to trust them after this. I have never in my life been treated so badly as I was treated at Warner West Pet Clinic. Karen Brink wanted to argue with me so bad about a mistake her office had made. It was a 28 dollar mistake and she wanted me to pay for it. This happened after she had already written prescriptions for my 15 year old dog with a heart condition. She took the prescriptions back from me, knowing my pup needed them to stay alive. Then she told me to get out of the office. I have spent hundreds at her clinic over the last year and she wanted me to pay for her offices mistake. She called me "CRAZY" in the waiting area in front of waiting clients. Whenever I would bring my pup to her she would shake uncontrollably but she is a chiquaqua so I thought this was normal. But when I found this new clinic across the street called 5 points companion hospital, my pup came in and was greeted with smiles and she did no shaking at all. They treated her nicely here and found several things with Bashas heart problem that had been overlooked by Warner West Clinic. So no wonder the dogs shake uncontrollably around Karen Brink something is really wrong and the dogs feel it. So happy at our new place and Basha is doing amazing now read more

Called to set up an appointment. Was able to get one pretty quickly. However, I wanted an appointment that fit my schedule and they were able to accommodate. Easy place to find, plenty of parking. Walked in first impression was very clean and bright. Lots of comfortable seating. There's a tv on for viewing if you are waiting. The office staff were nice but nothing special. They do have a sweet cat that is their office cat that roams around. I was seen fairly quickly with my kitten, so she could get spayed. We had a visit with the doctor first to make sure she was a candidate for the surgery. We were greeted by Dr. Escavel, she was very caring and informative. Took the time to answer any and all questions as well as address any concerns. Luckily, we were able to get a same day spay. The pricing was very reasonable considering all the other places I had called. Once her surgery was done they called me to pick her up. It was pretty quick. They even followed up with a call to check on my kitten. That was nice. I was later sent a email with a link to their website to my kitten's records and other information. That was a nice touch. I will definitely continue to take my kitten here for all her needs. read more

I am so disappointed. I have a very old dog who has been under the care of Dr. Brink for several years. She recently suffered 2 bouts of Vestibular (old dog disease) causes her to have vertigo and fall down. Took her in. Dr. ready to put her down. I asked if she might recover. (YES) so took her home. Few weeks she recovered. Got anouther bout recovered. She has been taking meds for anxiety when HB starts doing M80s and Air Show. Also hips going out. Got prednisone (worked really well.) Love love love this sweet dog. Dr. cut her off of meds unless I go spend a fortune in vet bills by way of blood tests etc. (She had an exam less than 6 months ago!) I am on a limited budget so my options are let her be in pain or put her down. That's messed up. read more

Super bummed to be leaving a poor review & searching for another vet. Multiple things to say here... 1. Dr. Brink is condescending as other reviews have mentioned. My first appointment with her was regarding annual shots. It turns out my pup was 2 lbs overweight, but her delivery made me feel as if I wasn't supposed to be a dog owner. She also has been 30 minutes late to every appointment I've made & just makes everyone feel like an inconvenience. 2. Victoria at the front desk. Today while waiting for my documents to come through I witnessed her on the phone with a patient rolling her eyes, flailing her arms, and grunting away from the phone as the patient was asking questions. I understand they have low availability & repeating yourself can get redundant, but perhaps it's time to hire an additional doctor and remove yourself from the environment if you hate your job that much? 3. Today I went in because my pup has a small growth on the inside of her ear. Because I assumed I would be wasting my time with an appointment, I sent pictures to see if they could give an opinion prior to spending $65 and you guessed it... "we can't diagnose over email" so I was given a piece of paper that I already had at home from doing my own research. Was not given a diagnosis and told to just monitor it... but if it grows my pup's ear will need to be partially cut off? TERRIBLE! My family and I had an absolutely terrible experience with this clinic. They're good at taking your money and are terrible at diagnosing your pet. I had a cat who I had brought here who was very sick and they didn't give any diagnosis or treatment plan, she was very anemic which they didn't mention. So, i took her to a different vet for another opinion, and which I was told it was too late to help her, so I never found out what was wrong. I also have a golden doodle that I have brought here who has frequent ear infections, urinary tract infections, and a heart murmur. I was told that the heart murmur was very minor. So I took her to another vet for a second opinion and was told that the heart murmur is serious to a point to where she needs pimobendan pills as treatment for her heart murmurs. If I haven't known, she could've had heart failure. As for the urinary tract infections, we got a second opinion and was told that she has struvite stones (stones in the urinary tract). So I had surgery on her to remove the stones at the other vet. In conclusion, if you love your pet dearly, don't come to this clinic! read more

Warner West pet clinic has been my family veterinarian for well over 30 years. Dr. Karen Brink and staff is just the best and I highly recommend them for all your pets well-being. I had to make the tough decision to put my dog down that I had for well over 13 years and I wouldn't have wanted the euthanization to be performed by anyone but Warner West pet clinic so I'm forever grateful that they were able to take me in on such short notice yesterday. The room they had us in yesterday had me fighting back tears as they played music from all dogs to heaven and lullaby music on a Bluetooth speaker as I watched my dog take his last breath. I'm finally posting this after months of disbelief that it actually happened in the first place. We are new to the area and were recommended to board our 2.5 year old staff/boxer mix here by a coworker. Unfortunately his family's experience was far different than ours. I called ahead, asking about how the dogs were handled and what their daily routine would be like and was assured that they are kept in a monitored area and walked 3 times daily. I brought food with specific instructions and offered to have a friend come retrieve our girl if she wasn't acclimating well, as I was going to be gone for 5 days for work. The team assured me that they would take the best care of our girl and call me if anything came up. I called halfway through my trip to check in and was assured that she was doing great and getting on well with the other dogs and handling her kennel just fine. However, when we arrived to pick her up it was clear that her care was not at the forefront of the clinic's attention, or even on their radar. When we arrived, shortly after they opened, we were told she was getting a routine bath and would be right out. 15 minutes later, we were still waiting and told they were just finishing and drying her off (she's a short haired staff/boxer, not much hair to dry or wash). When she finally came out she was frantic, barely recognized us and darted for the door, almost escaping off leash into the parking lot because the staff just let her free in the lobby. Unfortunately, this was only the beginning of many days of recovery. I had to go straight to work but my fiancé brought our girl home and her untrusting and skittish demeanor persisted. She even hid in the closet and wet herself, something she's never done despite being adopted right off the street. She would not respond to her name or food, and was completely exhausted--but unable to relax enough to sleep. When I got home that night she was excited to see me, and as she started wagging her tail we noticed blood spraying all over the wall beside her. I took a closer look and realized that her tail was severely wounded and bleeding, blood spattering all over. At this point I inspected her body all over and found that she had dried blood on all her foot pads and stomach and it appeared she had nervously been biting her tail (to a raw state) while in captivity at Warner West. After further consideration of the pick-up circumstances it became clear that the team there knew she had been having a tough time adjusting and had to give her a bath (not part of the daily procedure I was given when I first inquired) because the staff found her with open wounds and bleeding and needed to clean her up in the hope that we wouldn't notice upon receiving her. To make things worse, they assured us she ate regularly and gave back an accurate amount of extra food, but when we weighed her that night she was 3lb lighter than drop off (went from 38lb to 35lb in 5 days). My fiancé and I were terrified of what happened, lost all trust in Warner West and had buried the memory deep inside as our girl recovered to her normal self. After a couple months and someone recently asking for a dog care recommendation her experience was brought back fo the forefront of my mind and I couldn't help but share. I would never want another animal subjected to such treatment and conditions and feel terrible that my delayed review and story may have jeopardized other animals. Do not bring your animal here and do not trust the staff. Just reliving this to write this has reopened our wounds and filled us with anger. read more

There's not many times I'm speechless, but today I am. I went to Warner West and Dr.Brink after being referred by my dogs walker. We took my dog there but unfortunately she was put to sleep that visit as it would cost too much to diagnose her properly. Dr. Brink was emotionless and mute but I didn't think much of it, just that she was perhaps de-sensitised. I was concerned about my other dog so took him before Christmas. We were quoted thousands to definitively diagnose him. So I left it and treated myself. Well today, my dog has been excessively panting and I called to see if they had an appointment, I was told they could get me in at 10am but because it was a same day and they fitted me in there would be a $86 fee ontop of the $65 vet visit. I was absolutely disgusted. The extortion going on here is not only unlawful but immorally wrong. I found a new vet not even a mile away who charged $29 to see my boy and we are on our way to a diagnosis and relief for him. Avoid Dr.Brink and Warner west unless you have deep deep pockets and like cold, emotionless care. read more

After 4 visits with our dogs I was fed up with her cold and condescending manner. I did like her office staff. I've been to so many vets and this one is one of the best. The staff are friendly and helpful, they are completely professional. My cat Dax was spayed while in heat, they also sent us home with a prescription for flea meds and all her vaccinations. I paid about $330 for a full round of vaccines, the spay, the meds, the exam, flea meds. This is by far the most reasonable pricing I've found. Everything about my appointment was efficient and hassle free. All my questions were answered and they have been really helpful over the phone. I have been going to see Dr. Brink since 2013 when I moved to Huntington Beach with my 2 year old Wheaten Terrier, Simon because she came highly recommended from a friend. I have been in medical sales, including veterinary sales for over 35 years, so I can usually tell in 10 minutes of talking to a vet if they have the skills and characteristics I am looking for. It is one thing to have incredible animal skills, but it is just as important to be able to be compassionate and be able to explain to us in simple, honest terms what is happening with our animal, which many of us treat as our children. She also always managed to squeeze us in when we had what we felt was an "emergency." Unfortunately, Simon died of a brain tumor in July and she was in constant contact with the specialist and sent me a very touching condolence card. I just got my new Portuguese Water dog puppy on Christmas Eve and although we no longer live in Huntington Beach, I didn't even think of looking for a closer vet. She is now a member of the Warner West Pet Clinic family who even tolerates my bizarre sense of humor. Bottom line is I wouldn't hesitate, and I do recommend her to anyone who is looking for an excellent vet with an excellent staff. read more

Where do I start? There are no words to describe what a LIFE SAVER of a vet this is. I run a cat rescue and it would literally be impossible for me to run it without Dr. Brink and Dr. E. I have never met more compassionate, loving, happy, thorough, and attentive veterinarians. The girls at the front are always sweet, responsive, and on top of everything. There is NO medical question that this office cannot handle. They are truly in it for the animals, and that is almost impossible to find these days. I switched all my personal cats over to Warner West because I don't just believe, but I KNOW they give the best care. One of my own personal cats I had taken to 2 other vets was having major skin issues. Dr. Brink and Dr. E were the only ones who figured out it was a simple food allergy. They will never charge you for services not needed, and they know what they're talking about. The only reason I can think of anyone leaving this place a bad review is if that person is having a bad day, or don't want to pay their bill. Neither are acceptable. I could go on and on but I trust Warner West 100% and I wish more veterinarians would run their practice like this. I would list every person who's amazing here, but it's everyone. The office is so clean and they could be charging way more for the level of care they give. Beyond thankful that this vet and office is in our community. read more

Dr. Karen Brink killed my dog. Last month I brought in my Maltese, Bobo, to get dental work done. Brink told me she wouldn't work on him until he got his rabies, Bordetella, and DHPP vaccines. Bobo was a lapdog, he was never exposed to other dogs or animals that could get him sick, plus I let Brink know how very sensitive Bobo was to vaccines and that he'd had a bad reaction to the rabies vaccine several years ago. I really didn't want him to get any of those vaccines, I felt they were totally unnecessary. That didn't matter to her, she would not relent. I was so distraught that I told her to go ahead but in hindsight I shouldn't have. I called back to cancel the Bordetella and DHPP vaccines since they are not legally required, but the competence of the receptionists at the front desk is hit-or-miss. I should have insisted the receptionist go back to check on this, and have a lot of regret now that I didn't do that. Turns out Bobo's treatment should have been conducted in baby steps, not all at once, and as a veterinarian "with 20 years experience", Brink should've known that and advised me accordingly. Instead, Bobo was given all of those vaccinations, anesthetized, had his teeth deep cleaned with significant tartar removal and two molars pulled, all at once. He never recovered and died two weeks later. I am heartbroken to say the least. read more

We recently changed our primary care vet to Warner West. I've been aware of Dr. Brink for many years and when the practice we had been going to for the last 30 years changed ownership and the service drastically declined, we moved our veterinary care to Warner West. We have both a kitten and a geriatric siamese with cancer and early-stage kidney failure. Dr. Brink has suggested treatment for both conditions and the results have been quite impressive. She is extremely knowledgeable and experienced. It was clear from the first visit her priority is the most appropriate care and treatment of our animals, regardless of the impact that has on the practice's revenue. Not easy to find today. We continue to be impressed with Dr. Brink and Dr. Esquivel, who has treated our kitten. We feel fortunate to have found a provider with experience and integrity that we feel confident is doing the right thing for our animals every visit. A well-deserved five-star review. read more

I love this veterinarian. Dr. Brink has treated both of my senior cats (they unfortunately both passed this year, aged 18+). I recently had to put my boy kitty, Kieran, down, and I was extremely impressed with how everything was handled. The room they took us into for this was like a spa room, complete with faux candles and calming music and couches. They were gentle, compassionate, and handled everything beautifully. I highly recommend this veterinarian and her staff, and if/when I adopt again, I will of course use this vet to help me care for them. read more

My pup had a cut on his paw by a groomer and we brought him to this vet. They should get my pup treatment urgently as this was not a minor cut, but they did not do that! The vet at that moment was not busy, only us there with 2 staffs. But the staff showed me that she didn't care about my pup and just slowly walked in to check for the Dr, and then slowly walked out to take my pup in. On the form to fill out our information, we chose an option to get "detailed explanation" about the wound and the treatment of my pup. We marked on detailed explanation, "not brief explanation"!!! They didn't tell us about if there is any problems/issues caused to our pup in the future and what the level of danger is. Should they explain everything in writing? If they're so lazy for that, at least they should give us a detailed oral explanation. What they care about is money, about who would pay for the treatment, the groomer or us. It seems like they're so fast to walk to the grooming salon and give them the bill. We hope they would be fast and care about our pup like that :) When we came to pick up our pup, they just gave us a paper showing our pup got antibiotic and treatment, and the pup should wear a cone for 7-10 days. And what about his wound? What is the level of the serious this cut might cause to him in the future (dangeous or not???) ???? The staffs didn't look at me when they talked. I felt like they tried to let me know that they didn't respect me (2 staffs at front desk). If they gave a detailed explanation then I don't care about their attitude. I was very disappointed about what we received from this service! We weren't be there for free. We thought that people working in medical clinics are responsible and polite, but they are not. Dr. Brink oversaw my pet's health for the entirety of his life. She was so pragmatic in the way she offered advice about his health and never pushed unnecessary procedures or products. She showed compassion in the end days of his life and helped me through what was an unbelievably challenging time as I said goodbye to my best friend. Truly an amazing doctor and person. In addition, the staff is amazing. They treated my boy McCoy like he was their own. Always passionate about the care they gave him. This speaks to the culture created within the practice. It took me three diff animal hospitals to find Dr Brink and her association with Dr Jim Brewer (Cardiologist). My senior boy has severe heart disease and our vet had just retired. My boy was struggling with the diuretic he was on. I needed a cardiologist to evaluate him ASAP. Dr Brink saw me right away and adjusted his meds-she was able to book me an appt with the mobile Cardiologist who was Amazing. My boy went from circling the drain to his normal rambunctious within days! Meanwhile the other vets dismissed my concerns and booked their Cardiologist 1-2 months out.
