The cutest library! Every time we come by we always have a great time, the staff is always so helpful and so kind to my family and always greet my son with a smile. We've come by to visit their book sale, stroll around the library, and they have tons of great resources in both Spanish and English to support the community. They have great tech resources that you can book time to use too, I have yet to use them yet but so cool to know it's available. They also have a silent working room if you ever just need a change in scenery but need the silence to work. They're under renovations for the kids area, but can't wait to see how it all comes together this summer! read more

I just needed to use the lamination machine briefly on a Friday where the workshop is Appointment only which I was unaware which is fine but you would think someone would be willing help get it done for me briefly. 4 items would take 5-7 min tops. Both employees just looked at me like you can leave now we are not willing to help you. I thought Warren and Gurnee was a much better place than most but the simply use of a laminate machine for a guest is not asking for much. July 31st 2026. I am a little upset obviously. read more

This library has something for everyone and that makes all the difference. I enjoy how organized they are. They have great programs for kids. Went to two different story times for babies and then one for three year olds. My daycare children were engaged with the different songs and activities the librarians provided. The library has a wide selection of books, dvds, and cds. They pretty much have everything you are looking for and if not they are always willing to help you find it or do an interlibrary loan. The library has different sections one for little kids, elementary ages, teens, young adults and adults. Love the distinction between the areas. The librarians are all friendly and helpful. You could spend a lot of time in there. read more

Such a lovely service! This was my first time visiting here with my 2 1/2 year-old son. And we just needed to print off some papers about 15 minutes ago. From the ladies behind the desk right when you arrive they guided us directly right where we needed to go. Once we got to the adult section at the reference desk all three ladies there were just extremely kind and extremely helpful for us! My favorite library in the area. Great staff, very helpful. A very good book selection, not just in new releases but non-fiction as well. I really like the CD and DVD section as it is well organized and I have not had any problem with the media. The gift shop is something I would never go for and the coffee shop is high priced for what they serve, so I by-pass both of those every time. Love the self-check-out. read more

After a brief time in my life where I was making too much money to be found in a public library, life gave me lemons so I made a trip to the library. I think this would be a good premise for a movie, where some snobby rich dude finds true love with either a librarian or a random patron after being knocked down the corporate ladder. It would probably star Hugh Grant because he would bumble about with the books and that'd be great. Also while he's stammering through his lines in the usual Hugh Grant way, the people at the library could tell him to shut up. I suspect there won't be a problem finding extras for that scene. The love interest could be Renee Zellweger because at the end of the movie, she dies due to book poisoning. Anyway, the building is nice and as you would expect they have a wide variety of books and dvds. There's also computers for use. Now, to nitpick: The Warren Newport library is confusing because it's the gurnee library. Why don't they just call it the Gurnee Library? I can never remember the URL so it takes an extra 10 seconds for me to google it. the website is useful since they have the online catalog and you can renew your stuff without going outside. Nit #2 is that the location of the card catalog PCs is slightly obscure and far away from the non-fiction books. To look for something you have to take a small hike, which is no easy feat when you're carrying some other books too. It'd be better if they didn't have one central catalog cluster but spread it around the place. It's like if Target put all their price checking machines together. Makes no sense, right? Nit#3 is the parking. When the front parking is full the other parking is pretty far from the entrance. Seems it could have been designed better. Other than that the library is a nice place to get some reading materials and maybe film a movie. read more

Probably the best thing to do In Gurnee is come here. LOVE it here. They offer lots of computers (at least 30) plus allow you to use their public wifi in the desks and tables scattered all around the library. Book rental is 4 weeks, DVD is from 5 days to 2 weeks. (2 weeks for almost every workout video out there) If you can't find a book or video on shelf you can just place a hold, you'll get it in days. You can also renew materials in the easy to use online website. Oh and the best part, they have a cute bookmobile that visits popular areas! read more

There's a good collection of books, movies and cds that you can borrow for free with your library card. The kids area is awesome and the staff is very nice!! I go there to study and I love it. They have study rooms that you can separate for 2 hours with boards and markers that you can use. I love this place!! read more

This is a great library. You can get all the books, cd's, movies that you would ever want to read, listen to or watch at this place. I was never a library person and I realized every book or movie I purchased just sat on a shelf at my house never to be picked up again. I pay taxes for the library, why not use it? This library is clean, the staff Is helpful when needed or you can be like me and never have to interact with a real person. You can go online, reserve what you want, they auto call you when it's in, check out at the self-serve computers and return in a drop box. What's not to love? read more

Fantastic suburban library, probably number 2 on my list of best Illinois libraries only surpassed by Park Ridge Library. The librarians here are always friendly and helpful. Don't kid yourself, that makes a difference! The organization of the library is very well thought out. Aisles are big and spacious and the setup of where certain books are makes sense even to a first-time visitor. I brought my kids to the Warren Newport Library for a sensory story in December. The women who hosted us was amazing. She really had done her research about how kids with autism learn. She had visual schedules and interactive activities. She also knew how to modify the day to best engage my students. I love this library , I am a regular for the past 6 years, and it just gets better and better. Very wide book selection, new book shelves for fiction and non-fiction, reference, DVD's, music, computer lab, and events organized on a regular basis. The staff is VERY friendly and helpful, and there is also self-check out scanners, as well as return drop, so there are never long lines. The library is adding a new wing (it will be finished sometime this year,) and it will house ever larger selection. The parking is somehow limited now due to the construction. There are are always lots of people visiting the library, especially during the evening rush hour on the way back from work. Parking is better if you can avoid the rush hour as in mid-day when most people are at work. read more

The reason I am adding this library to my list of used bookstores is because of Bookends, their little used bookstore. They seem to have a nice turn over and rarely do I leave without a purchase. The books fall between $.50-$3.00, most seem to be a $1. read more

I love this library. I can use my Waukegan library card here since I live in the Gurnee Park District. I like Gurnee library better than Waukegan, they have a bigger selection, the people are more helpful and it's closer to my house..... read more

warren newport is something serious. the staff is so helpful and they have a self-checkout [that includes dvds - can you say added bonus?] in case you're having one of those 'oh goodness, no one can see my hair' or 'i feel like doing this myself' kinda days. either way, they have an amazing collection and 24-hour drop off for all you procrastinators out there. read more

One of the best libraries that I have visited with a very easy automated self check out system. This library has a wide selection of media from DVDs, audiobooks, and newspaper articles. It's never packed with people from wall to wall, the librarians are very helpful, and it is a great place for people of all ages to study. Great library! read more
