I don't live near Round Lake, but when you offer passport services seven days a week, I will drive the extra distance. I came here to apply for a passport and was helped by a very friendly staff member named Ana. They take care of everything on site AND do photos! Everything is done on a first-come, first-served basic, so I was happy that there was no waiting, nothing confusing, everything was explained well and the whole process was easy. All done in about 15-20 minutes. My boyfriend came with me and was very impressed with the video game collection (PS4 games, to be exact) and we definitely left with a few. Some of the rudest librarians you will ever meet work at this location. Since I moved to Volo, I've received the library seasonal magazines for both Round Lake and Wauconda. My main library is Wauconda, but I had yet to check out the previous library. I went in at first to check out an ARC (Advanced Reader's Copy) that I saw in the magazine, and the first librarian at the circulation desk didn't even look up from her computer and has a nasty attitude. After going in and seeing that there were none (as the magazine said to pick up a copy at any point, way to give the patrons of the library lies), I decided to look around and not waste a trip. After going to check out, the second librarian at the desk wasted about 15 minutes of my time on her computer looking for my account with Wauconda. Then she decided to say "Unfortunately we can't help you" from an apparent fine I had at my previous library - that has NOTHING to do with this library branch. A fine, mind you,, that had been paid for about...idk....8 months prior. Rude and unhelpful librarians, a book collection that could be better, and an over negative feeling in that building. Do not recommend, don't waste your time dealing with nasty people like that. And I hope they see this too, maybe they'll fix their nasty ass attitudes and learn to treat people with respect. I was very kind and patient, but it only goes so far. Fuck the Round Lake Library, 0/10. Never going back. This library is one of my family's favorite places in Round Lake! The building has something for each of us and serves as a great location to get out for a bit when the weather denies us an outdoor adventure. The entire bottom floor is a children's area and it is divided up easily. The kids are able to find their own special places including graphic novels, pre-teen appropriate and cardboard books. And there are plenty of play areas for my toddler to get hands-on without increasing my stress levels. There are computers where the kids can immerse themselves in whatever the kids are into these days. Upstairs is the adult area and the teen section. The teen section is perfect for my moody teenager complete with video games, comfy seating and comic books. The adult section is my primary interest but not where I get to spend enough of my time. I love to grab a handful of new romance novels to dive into on the weekend while I am sitting around with my feet up. But this is only one part of what makes this library great! The real interest is in the other parts of the library that you don't think of. There are programs for everything you can imagine! Book clubs, classes, meetings, kids activities, crafting, learning new languages, and so much more. We have caught a movie, joined a book club, reserved the meeting space and grabbed information about getting my passport. And everything is free! I suggest making a trip here the next time you need to know anything at all! Somewhere in this treasure trove is the answer you were looking for. read more

I was visiting the area with the thought of moving here some day. It's nice to see that some communities still value and fund libraries. This is an impressive facility. In my home area, libraries are closing because the public doesn't care about education or the unique services being offered. Very rude employee on a Sunday afternoon Without Any Advance Notice at 3.45 pm, cuts off the computers. No announcement nothing. As she walked around in her Ghoul costume and purple lipstick. (Oct 28) She stated that we close at 4pm, when asked why the computers were shut down. As if I were born n raised there and should know better abt the sunday hours. I love this library when ever I go here! I usually use computers to either go on steam or just for homework. (btw the computers there work really great!) I would recommend more new books, they have some but not a lot I recommend read more

A very nice library, kind of tucked away on a quiet street. It has everything you need though. Computers, wi-fi, cd's and VHS movies to rent, newspapers and of course...books. Parking lot is not huge but it is sufficient. Never too crowded. read more

I love our library! The staff is always pleasant and always willing to help me find what I am looking for. So few towns of our size are so lucky to have such a great resource these days and we are lucky to have such a good one.
