They also have a silent working room if you ever just need a change in scenery but need the silence to work. They're under renovations for the kids area, but can't wait to see how it all comes together this summer!

We walked through a large collection of books on our way to the meeting room on the lower floor. The meeting room was large with many tables and chairs. There was a sink in the back of the room near the doors. The setup was perfect for the event. The stairs, elevator, and restrooms were all easily accessible. If the parking lot were more sensibly laid out, this would easily be a five star review. Still, I recommend Cook Memorial Public Library District.

Let not the stately, historical exterior fool you; this facility is all sorts of state-of-the-art from the materials they carry (e.g., current DVDs) to the technologies they employ (downloadable e-books). I can't help but always be impressed and pleased at having access to this library as a local resource through the parental units. Walking through the doors here inevitably leads to happy feelings!

Besides the wonderful children's section that continues to be a highlight of our week, I've been borrowing books on CD. They have a decent selection and the front librarians can point you to the ones worthwhile to check out. I spend a lot of time in the car and these have been a lifesaver. I've also gotten addicted to checking out books online. Yes! This library lets you borrow E-books from the comfort of your own home. Perfect for us parents who are on the go and don't have the ability to pursue the stacks on our own time. The library offers multiple study areas and free wi-fi. Yeah baby! So you can set up for the day if you need to get some work done ... But quiet library etiquette is still the rule so put away that annoying cell phone! Also, if you need a book and the library doesn't carry it, the reference desk is extremely helpful in getting an inter library loan for you. I can't tell you how many crabby librarians I've had to work with at other libraries. But not here! They're all helpful and approachable. Oh. And they're on Facebook, Pinterest and Twitter. However you need to reach them, they're there. One minor thing -- I do think it's time for them to update the adult media stacks from a decor standpoint. But really, I'm so please to call the Lake Forest library my home library.

I set up on one of the tables in the reading room but found a weak connection. I found by moving to the tables right behind where all the house computers were set up, the connection was much stronger. This is a nice library that has everything you would expect in a modern library. The procedure for getting a card was very fast and efficient and in minutes I had a card with a picture of my face on the front. I also found by asking that there was a parking lot kiddy corner from the entrance where you can get two hours of free parking by getting your ticket stamped.

Since they are connected, I can use my Waukegan library card in both.The library in Gurnee rents DVDs and CDs for free, while the Waukegan library charges $1.

Getting a library card was a nice experience- the librarian was so kind to the kiddos and gave them cards with welcome bags too. They took it very seriously lol. Excellent professors, some really good programs. Their theater and music performances are really…read moregood, a cross between professional and student and sometimes combining both. They care about pulling in community members. At the same time: They pour money into full-time advisors who give incorrect advice - for me that included courses they said would apply towards graduation and didn't. They have scholarships that don't require the FAFSA, but what exists isn't listed, figuring out how to apply is a mess, and aid can show up in the middle of the semester which is too late if you're dependent on it. They also list courses which aren't actually taught, and deans are completely unresponsive to student concerns. Worst of all, they spend so much money on administrative positions that around 80% of their professors are adjunct and scrambling to make ends meet with multiple gigs. Hello, your professors are the heart of a good college. But honestly in the end you can get a good education and if you figure out the limitations for early transfer it's a solid start for a 4-year degree
