I have always said, "No one cleans your house the way you do, so just let go of that expectation and you'll be fine." In this case I have to say - they do! They clean all the obvious stuff but they also notice things like the top of the stove hood that gets all greasy, the inside of the fridge where spills happen and it looks gross. In this house we have lots of those long cob webs that you don't notice unless you look up. They actually look up! The other day I was in the bedroom and showed my husband, "OMG! They cleaned the fan blades! No one does that." Also important to me is that the people are very friendly, use good cleaning products (not harsh chemicals) and don't have a problem with my big dogs in the house while they work. Last, Efficient Housekeeping is involved in island charities (I met the owner at one of these), which is very nice. Locally owned, woman owned and supportive of our community. Totally worth it to have them come in and clean 2-4x a month. Oh, and you can pay them with (credit card!) via PayPal.

During the summer I rent out my house and it takes to long to wash and dry all the blankets at home so I drop them off at Lapels. They do a great job, it's not that expensive and every week I pick up lovely clean and folded blankets. It is so hard to make sure the house gets cleaned properly every week and it's a huge relief to know that's done. I never knew clean, reliable laundry would be so important in my life but with guests rating my house on every little thing it's become a headache. I'm not sure why they don't have more 5 star reviews. I called and spoke with the manager and then met her at the store. She was so helpful and courteous and everyone there has been the same. I have used Lapels this summer on 5 or 6 occasions, including a couple where there was a food stain…read more(or food deposited on the clothing). They have successfully removed the stain (without me asking) in each case. They are expensive (but everything on the Vineyard is expensive) and slow (in Friday and normally back by the following Wednesday; I am used to one day service on the mainland; they did get it back one day earlier when requested). Exciting, all-new, state-of-the-art equipment has been installed throughout the entire laundromat! The old Speedwash had benches and windows where you could watch the traffic go by, but the new Speedwash is modeled more like a café. Even when you don't have laundry to do, it can be a pleasant place to stop. One thing that hasn't changed is the Speedwash's excellent location.
