My house had a power outage the other day. My husband reported the outage online and I also called. I spoke to Mr. Robinson who was super friendly and understanding. He was able to provide me with an update on when a technician would be out and let me know that other people in my neighborhood had the same issue. He was very thorough and ensure he had my proper information before ending the call. I see terrible reviews about BGE and I am sure because they serve so many there are sometimes issues. With any outage I have had at my home, it has always been corrected in a timely fashion and I have never experienced issues with my bill. read more

Even setting up an account is literally impossible. They require access to your credit score, which I gave them, but they still insist that my scores are frozen on Equifax. Okay, fine. Well this issue can't be resolved because I cannot reach them by phone SINCE I DON'T HAVE AN ACCOUNT NUMBER YET. Okay, fine. I can reply to the email they sent asking to unfreeze my scores right? If I could give zero stars, I would. I called about a billing issue and, as usual, no one answered--so I had to join the call-back list. After waiting three hours, they finally returned my call. I then spent an hour and a half on the phone (see photo) trying to resolve the issue, only to be disconnected before anything was fixed. When I called back, I was told they were "at capacity" for the day and I'd need to try again tomorrow. So now I have to repeat this entire process. This is completely unacceptable. I recieved a bill online through my BGE account and the bill stated that my gas was estimated on two different dates. I need anwsers to why this happened. I have been calling BGE since the 11/6/2025 and calling everyday still have been able to reach them by phone. BGE cutomer service is very horrible. I have a very simple question and cannot reach BGE..... This the second time I have filed a complaint.. I pay my BGE bill ontime every month and being treated like this is unacceptable... Sitting on the phone while powers has been out all day noone picks up the phone at bge they have gone very downhill.

I got a BGE rate increase. Everybody did but, my bill went from approx. $250 to $450+ and I own a 6kw solar system. I have had my solar company come out twice and even went to that company for answers. All have checked out ok. I called GBE 4 times to come out and check the smart meter they installed and said life would be better with it. It's the one thing that haven't been checked. I spent about 3 1/2 hours being lied to by 4 different BGE employees, stating that they have to put in a work order and that I will be getting a phone call, letting me know when someone will be out to check the meter. One of them even said that they would notify me personally! If they did, grits ain't groceries! BGE has put a hold on payments so my electricity won't be cut off due to late charges while they try to resolve the issue. In the meantime, my bill is now over $900 and climbing! I may change my rating in the future but, I doubt it! P.S. The online A.I. chat is absolutely NO help. read more

If they are still working from home (not really) I hope they are mandated to return to office! Customer Service is Horrible or Non Existent. When you call as soon as they open, you are told a 3 hour "Call Back" window but you di nit get a call back until the next day. Then they disconnected the phone line (I had all bars so not mt phone). Today I have a power outage that has lasted for five hours with no estimated restoration in sight. The service here is less than my experience in third world countries. Having BGE has been a NIGHTMARE. I have only had the company for 6 months and the power has gone out twice with barely any updates. It takes hours to restore service and it's just ridiculous. it is too cold outside to be without heat. The lack of communication is completely unacceptable. I never had these issues with Pepco. And if it were an issue Pepco communicates non stop. Then BGE has the nerve to have these high outrageous rates. Just insane. read more

Absolutely terrible customer service. As a GC trying to schedule them to perform a work with so the power lines can be relocated for an addition has been a nightmare. Over 3 months of emails and phone calls trying to get it scheduled. Miscommunication and lack of competency on their end resulted in $500 of work being performed for them to just come back and say it was no longer necessary. After finally getting the work approved, they scheduled for a 7am start then never arrived. Sitting on hold for an hour a person finally answers and tells me they would be onsite between 8am and 8pm to complete the work and my electrician needs to sit and wait because they won't call or notify you when they are in route. When asking about a rough timeframe so electrician isn't sitting for 12 hours waiting, they told me they have no contact information for the crews assigned to the job and cannot provide any information for that crew. How do you schedule a crew to perform work and have no information for them? Absolute joke of a company but unfortunately we are stuck with them because they bought out Maryland. read more

I recently had my electricity turned off. I'm a single father with an eight-year-old and he lost his mother the last few months and was shipped out of the country. She did have a was working on a green card. Long story short it's been a struggle financially, so yes, I was backed up on my electricity bill and it off. It took them two days until they finally answered my phone. Call to turn the electricity back on and ask him for help because I've never asked for help before. So I thought that they would be able to help me since I never asked for help. In the past. Four people told me they won't turn the lights on until you pay the full amount, including late fees. My food melted and was spoiled refrigerator by the time they put the lights back on. Then on top of that, they're still charging me processing $20 as if they didn't get enough money. BG&E is a company that does not care about people and does not care about their customers. They care about their money not what families need which is help. I was willing to give them more than half of what they're asking for by borrowing money And it still wasn't enough. They everything down to the penny or nothing. Awful service, awful response time, expensive for no reason. Power outages galore and the slowest imaginable "emergency response" teams sent to deal with them. Currently seven hours without power sitting in a bathtub trying to cool off in 95 degree weather. Ambulances in and out taking people to the hospital, kids unable to sleep, people's pets overheating. If i could give this controlled monopoly a 0 star rating i would. This is the only company that i pay that charges $2.30 "Convenience" fee for using their controlled monopoly services. They charge almost as much as the energy i use for "Delivery costs", but yet one can drive the entire state of Maryland and not see one worker working on the infrastructure. Also our monthly bill we used less than $60 a month in cost, but they insist we give them over $100 a month in "Security" deposit. Complete garbage, should be defunded and abolished. read more

Terrible is putting it mildly, my experience with BGE since being in Baltimore. Customer service is useless and their business practices could stand a close eye from agencies monitoring fraud. Due to a glitch in their system, I wasn't sent bills for electricity and when the huge bill came, they offered a payment arrangement for the inconvenience. Mind you, other bills were still accruing and due. I got charged an application fee for service several months later. BGE should be dissolved or at the very least audited and severely reviewed for severe ineptitude. read more

I absolutely hate bge. They have turned my service off several times due to a bad hvac and high bill. They truly don't care about anything but ripping people off and getting paid. My house is freezing as it's freezing outside I have a 5yo and I asked them to restore my service for a week so I can cook and have heat and they wouldn't without payment which I told them I would have at the end of the week . They can't give you an accurate time and force you to sit around waiting for them for 4 hours. Even when you call the day of. This is a horrible waste of time. BGE called to say one of their new smart meters was not sending a signal. They have no off hour appointments as such I would need to take a vacation day so they can fix their equipment. Everything from calling in to talk with someone on the phone to getting this taken care of has been "at the convenience of BGE" . If there was an alternative I would be switching. read more

BGE is the worst electric company! I had PEPCO most of my life and they were wonderful and I never had a problem over several decades. I can't say the same for BGE, they raise their rates every year and their website never works properly. I do e-billing and every time I try to logon to view my actual bill, there are problems. The apartment I previously lived in, the BGE power would go out on average two times every week! If they had any competition they would be out of business, they are a dreadful company. read more
