Yes prices for living is still high due to the fact you are in New York simply but the sidewalks aren't filled with people at every turn. There are several small shops that have great food or even little items from people that are locals to Queens! Of course there are several subways and buses that you can use as a form of transportation. There is also the Uber and Lyft drivers in the area. Queens has taken me in and I really enjoy being apart of the community!! This is a community you can raise your family in! Not sure how good each school is in the area but the area is family oriented!

I was always going to the Target before the Target opened in East Harlem. Another favorite my daughter and I enjoyed is Georgia Diner. Old school meals for the hearty appetite. If we didn't go to the diner we were frequent customers at the Outback Steakhouse. Over time we became disenchanted with all the Outback locations and stopped going. Our current visits are to the Queens Center Mall. We have the feel of being in the burbs while having the subway ride like city kids. Besides they now have Cheesecake Factory and Olive Garden nearby. I can't say enough about the shopping in Queens. It's so much more pleasurable to me than the crowds and tourists in Manhattan. The stores are stocked in Queens. You don't get leftovers in a ransacked store like Manhattan Shopping. I have friends that live in Queens but never visited their homes. I'm sure they are beautiful. I do know getting to and from work is very time consuming for them. Especially if they are working in Manhattan. All I can say is I love this borough. I'm glad I live where I do but love to escape to Queens for the day!!

The watch party on my family's block Uptown was nice, the entire neighborhood came out with chairs to watch the game, on the projector screen, that played on the building. Strangers were all friends, the energy was to the moon! The game really brought out community. As for the chaos around the Garden, I believe they were agitators from out of town, that likes to cause chaos. Happy these finals are over, because the anticipation, had me, and my friends on edge. Fantastic restaurants in Little Italy, Chinatown, and spectacular views of the Hudson River, and there's also acres of Central Park. Awesome architecture from modern skyscrapers like the new Vanderbilt Tower to classic townhouses in the upper east side, deathly afraid of heights by going up the Empire State Building but I can handle walking around the High Line on the west side. It's been years since I've visited the 911 Memorial, that still gives me goosebumps just thinking about it. The first time I've seen the Statue of Liberty and riding a ferry over to Staten Island Ferry, me and my other half were just dating at that time. Back in the past we were warned to stay away from 1st Ave above 86th street at night, and it was justified as at times we saw fights in bodegas, gun shots, cops chasing thugs, and more. It has developed since then to be safe community offering many terrific restaurants, bars, shopping, museums, even speakeasies and some fun nightlife options. With the Q subway line now here on 2nd Ave, the best line in the city, it offers easy access to all parts of Manhattan down to Coney Island. There is a nice mix of old and new here, along with affordable apartments if you hunt a bit. It's really more of a residential area with plenty of parents with kids, schools, dogs, and a few minutes walk to Central Park, and the East River Esplanade. Its also a great place for younger single folks to live as its very walkable too with enough bars and spots to mingle.
