In long After my lovely bride had a massive stroke 15 months ago, pain set in over time. Neural pain makes mild inflammation in her hip and thigh feel like torture. If she pulls a muscle it's agony (and it's easy to fall when you've lost mobility, which can lead to pulls). She gets headaches that she never used to get. Lots of aches and pains throughout. We tried a pain management clinic in Everett and all they really did was walk us through the idea that there are 3 ways to manage pain. First is pain-relief drugs, which they refused to prescribe since they're not in the same network with her primary care. Sigh. Second is active treatment, and she was already getting PT, OT, massage, and, at the time, acupuncture. So they didn't see any potential there. Third is carefully-planned rest and activity periods. She was loving getting up and walking at the time so she was getting her blood flowing more than zero. So they agreed to do nothing at all for her. We also saw a pain interventionist in Silver Lake, who consciously declares (and is known in the industry) never to prescribe. She focuses on injections and other outpatient procedures to manage how the nervous system perceives pain. She couldn't see anything that would work for her, so, again, she did nothing. We got a third referral after her hip flared up again and her primary prescribed a stronger pain med in the short term. Her primary noted that she's always chasing her pain, rather than really managing it. So off to NWPM we go. The building is new enough, nice enough. Accessible parking underneath with a proper elevator. You get upstairs and it says you must ring the bell to get in. Turns out the door is unlocked, and ringing the bell just makes them get up to answer the door. Why do they not prop the door open? Why do they leave the sign up? It's just a little piece of copier paper taped to the door. Easy to remove. But okay. The front desk staff seemed confused about our presence, at least to some extent. Not sure what to have us do, not sure who we'd be seeing, not sure what to tell us to expect. Not encouraging. We sat in the waiting room, which looks like they got it on closeout. Tags still on. Frames with stock photos still inside--not even of local scenery, just the family photos that they sell with the empty frame. A little creepy. None of the furniture goes together. We finally go back and the physician's assistant who sees us is super nice. Very calm guy, patiently goes over her whole chart and recent medical history. Walks her through tons of options, asks tons of questions, explains all the different ideas he has for helping her. First he wants to replace her meds with a patch that will continuously manage her pain, and see how that goes. Sounds great! He said he just had a patient report that morning that she found the exact same Rx to be "stunning" in its effectiveness. Then on the way out we have to have a UA test to make sure she's eligible for a strong pain med...they don't know how we're gonna do that, or who's gonna help. So they let someone else go first while we wait with all the mismatched furniture. In the end, we're very optimistic about the potential for this treatment. But every other patient and every person in the office reminded us of an episode of Better Call Saul. Odd vibes here.

The worst moment I had was trying to enter my appointment via tele health and didn't happen through 2 devices. When forwarded to Leanne the front desk person she blamed me for the technology issue and wouldn't search it further. I'm no longer happy and ended my visits with the office because I was scolded like a child by the doctor.

Deedee is a superwoman both the nurse and front desk lady but she does more than that. So, even though the wait time can get long sometimes it's still a good experience and you will be able to get all your needs met or they will refer you to a specialist. I live nearby so I can highly recommend this clinic for local primary care.

Do NOT ever let them record you for their notes because those notes and imformation can be seen by the billing department so not sure how they can violate Hepa but everyone does. Also, if the doctor asks you a question or notices something they just randomly mark it down as a diagnosis and then they bill you more as complex. For example, if you have acne but you came in for another reason and the doctor asks if you have acne and you say - I don't want to be treated for it - literally you say that, they can then write down a diagnosis of acne in your chart and charge you more for the visit. I don't think if the doctor notices something like that which you don't want to be treated for that they have the right to diagnose you without telling you. Make sure if you get asked to tell them that you don't want a "diagnosis". I feel like they are looking for diagnoses to make you complex case. I do not take any medications and have no chronic conditions but somehow UW Med says I am "complex" but no other doctor's practice has ever said that. Be very aware of what you say and what they write down is my recommendation.

I have been going here for six years and I hope I never have to go anywhere else. I have very complex health needs and I always know I will be treated kindly and with respect by everybody here -- doctors, nurses, staff, lab technicians, everybody. The integration with my specialists is terrific. I feel like my entire care team here and at the rest of UW are connected and can help in treating me holistically, not just looking at numbers and stats.

His surgical skills are outstanding and without question was the most recommended. I had no difficulty at all post op. My surgery was done at Proliance Surgical Center and their staff are the best (not surprised) and Dr. Christal's support staff at the Proliance Orthopedic Center in Edmonds were responsive, friendly and very efficient (again, not surprised). Another very important issue is the thoroughness with which Dr. Christal prepares his patients for surgery. He builds into the process the conscientious attention to detail and in particular his instructions regarding limiting the chance of infection by starting "decolonization" five days before surgery and setting PT goals early were appreciated. His pain management is stellar and I recovered with lightening speed. [My physical therapy was handled by Evergreen Home Health, so see also their yelp review.] I would recommend Dr. Christal to anyone seeking knee surgery. A sudden mobility issue happened back on 2/17/26. Working with my primary care facility and…read morephysician at Pacific Medical Center - Shoreline, I was referred to, had Xrays completed and evaluated at Swedish Edmonds Urgent Care that evening. The PA-C seen referred me to Edmonds Orthopedic Center (affiliated with Proliance Surgeons), located also at the Swedish Edmonds medical campus. My initial evaluation was with Michael Lee, MD on 2/23/26 where it was determined a MRI was needed to make a definitive diagnosis. This was completed at an affiliate site, North Puget Sound MRI in Mountlake Terrace on 3/6/26. My MRI results and next steps were addressed again with another appointment with Dr. Lee on 3/12/26. The MRI brought to light my current situation and potential future issues to be made aware of. I also received a cortisone steroid shot to help reduce discomfort and inflammation at this visit. My recovery is still ongoing, just thankful no physical therapy and/or surgical intervention are needed at this time. Yes, one has to deal with the wait (blame the insurance and medical care system in the US). Overall, I have been pleased with the professional care provided without the hassles of having to see similar organizations in downtown Seattle. It is much more accessible as a Shoreline resident to be seen at northend sites in Edmonds and Mountlake Terrace. My interactions via phone, online, and onsite have been favorable. Pro tips: Understand that time is needed to have referrals reviewed and approved by one's insurance coverage, especially if there were any policy changes. This does affect scheduling and copays. Exercise your patience, do your due diligence to follow up, ask questions and for clarity to advocate for the best outcome for your care. Give yourself extra time to locate parking, whether on the adjacent street, main parking lot, or parking garage whether you are dropped off or driving yourself. It does get congested and not fun with limited mobility and inclement weather. The common areas like lobby, elevators, and waiting areas are busy so be proactive to wear a mask and/or use hand sanitizer. Complete any online check-in requests prior to your actual onsite appointment. This will streamline your check-in process. Copays can be paid ahead or at the check-in counter.
