The real reason why people wander through the campus is to enjoy the wooded areas, benches, and the tall observatory.

I was expecting the campus to be nicer considering all the celebrity alumni and major donors. Not sure of the internal resources for students but the campus needs a little updating. I know some will disagree, but they can/should do better. It's of course a historical reference for African Americans a proud HBCU. I can only imagine the clout of celebrities that walk the campus, my hope is that a wealth of knowledge is shared along with donor dollars. We met some friendly staff whom gave us the overall impression of the campus and having the college in the city adds to the experience. Check it out!

And yet the stuffy center, in the basement of the second most egregious architectural disaster of a building on Georgetown's campus, was refreshingly chilly. Chilly in temperature, but not in spirit! As disagreeable as the lack of Oxford comma in the center's name may be, the center does truly bring together a robust collection of human beings. And it is these folks who craft and construct the spirit of the Center for Eurasian, Russian and East European Studies. As for amenities, you may ask, this center boasts a powerful Xerox WorkCentre 7855 printer, scanner, copier, and fax machine. This, of course, is the pinnacle of what the center offers. It is worth noting that there is also a small kitchen with running water and a voluptuous collection of cabinetry. The design of the cabinets is somewhat bland and generic--the typical white wood paneling that you might find in an office constructed between the years of 1974 and 1986. Absolutely void of style, but functional. Last I checked there is also a refrigerator, a microwave, and a Keurig. As we all know, Keurigs produce the absolute worst coffee, so expectations should be managed accordingly. The center also boasts an absolutely REGAL mahogany dining room Table, around which The Masses can gather for a chat, meeting, or concerted study session. The Table is surrounded by several luscious bookshelves, which host books to satisfy your basic need of literature related to Eurasia, Russia, and Eastern Europe. On one side of The Table, you will find a window that looks out toward a road. There is nothing appealing about the road, but it certainly fulfills its purpose as a road. The center also houses several offices, two of which are windowless. In the annals of Georgetown University, perhaps a driven searcher can find the answer to why anyone would construct a building with windowless offices. To me it is but a mystery, and for me a mystery it shall remain. I recommend paying a visit to the Center for Eurasian, Russian and East European Studies for any and all of your scholarship needs.

The classrooms on the lower level are all clearly marked with directories and signs. There are comfy spaces to sit all around the buildings. The faculty and students are nice about giving directions if you aren't sure where you are. Metro has a stop right on campus. The garage is also available (and free on Sundays). It is worth taking a look at the web site or face book page. There are events scheduled throughout the year.

I never got a job related to my degree and the school did not do anything to help me get a job. Their Career Center is useless. I have never known anyone who got a paying job through the American University Career Center. The Professors I had were also useless. Many of them teach directly from antiquated text books. They do not teach you any technology of any kind and they never taught us any programs that you would need to know for employment purposes. You take an Economics class and they do not teach you how to use econometric software programs. Their curriculum is something out of the 1960s. This school has had several large scandals over the years with school Presidents. Google Richard Berendzen and you can read about his disgusting behavior. The school would not fire him. He was allowed to keep his job as a professor at the school. Also Google Benjamin Ladner. He was another school President.

I'm sure it's awesome if you go to one of these schools and can call this hub your home base. I am not a student at any of the universities so I came through to see if I can sneak in and study. The parking garage said that payment is required 24/7 but the gates were open so I took my chances. There are also a few street parking spots. The Priddy Library is interestingly not marked on the map near the parking garage, but it is located in the Academic Building. As a community member, I was able to just walk in. The library is awesome for studying. There's tables, group spaces, standing desks, white boards, even couches with lap desks. Plenty of outlets everywhere and lots of natural light make it really pleasant. It is dead silent so whether you see that as a pro or con, is up to you. Besides paid parking, the other downside is that the guest wifi kicks out off after 1 hour.
