We had a large 80-foot cedar in our yard that was right next to a neighbor's house. The tree was very messy as well. The needles were always in their gutters and on their roof. Our driveway was constantly covered with needles. I got a quote from Washington Tree Experts that was reasonable. They did a great job with taking the tree down carefully so my neighbor's fence and house was not damaged nor was there any damage to our yard. The hauled most of the wood away and left some for me, at my request, to split for firewood. The crew was respectful, courtous, and the price was as we agreed. We hired WTE to trim our trees and they butchered them. While the supervisor was up cutting the tops, his employees were below doing the damage. When he came down we asked if maybe they cut too much off and his response was "yeah, I didn't see what they were doing but it'll grow back." We were offered a $500 discount on our $6,000+ bill. As you can see, 2 years later, the branches have not grown back and our yard still looks horrible. Inconsistent quality. First hedge trim 2 years ago was great. This recent trim was not. I will not hire or recommend them ever again.One side of our large hedge is uneven with the top section extending beyond the bottom. Washington Tree Experts were awesome. We had a large branch snap during the recent winds which was hanging off a dead limb on our big Doug Fir. I noticed it and called yesterday morning. Fortunately, they had a crew in the area today that finished up and were able to come check it out. They gave a quote onsite, I authorized, and they dropped and chipped the dead limbs a lot faster than I would have expected. They also left our backyard cleaner than when they arrived. I have had two instances in the past few years for a number of trees to be taken down on my property. I have always obtained a number of bids, and Washington Tree Services always comes in absurdly high! In my most recent round of obtaining estimates for a couple of trees to be taken down, WTE quoted me a price that was 1.86 times higher then the average of the four other bids. The other four bids were all very close to one another. I requested a bid a few years ago for another tree removal job, and they came in over two times the price of anyone else. In less than one minute--two at most and breathtaking for sure, Jennifer Wells managed to ring my doorbell this morning at the agreed upon time, then get in her car and drive off before I could respond. I was ready and expecting her, and made my way to the door, grabbing my coat on the way. I saw no one, went to the back assuming she'd begun looking at the trees like any good Arborist. No sign of her so I walked toward the front of the house, in time to see her truck backing out of my driveway at a pretty good clip, as she took off without a look back. I should be offended, but people always show you who they are...Jennifer is obviously fast on her feet, but lacks professionalism, patience or courtesy. Try Vitalitree or Seattle Tree Care; their Arborists are personable, decent, honest people who know what they're doing; they could see the damage to my birch trees from the street and both gave me valuable input and reasonable bids. read more

I hate to give a poor review because the guys in the crew were nice and cleaned up well. However, I have to warn other homeowners that this company uses spikes to prune. I hired them to prune some dead limbs on large Doug Firs on my property. I saw them using spurs and asked if that was really necessary. They told me it's no big deal and they do it all the time. I have since spoken to several certified arborists in the area who tell me it is the ISA rule to NEVER spike a tree unless you're taking it down because it definitely damages the tree and can even kill it. They say it's been common knowledge since the 1980s and a surprise anyone still does this. The spur holes up and down my trees are an eyesore and many are now oozing pitch. I think WA Tree Experts would be a good choice if you're looking to take down a tree, but if you want someone who cares about the long term health and appearance of your trees, you will want to look for a certified arborist that follows the ISA guidelines! read more

I've had WTE out to my place multiple times to tame trees I can no longer handle on my own and each time - whether it was to remove and stump grind or just prune/re-shape/clean up - they've done a fantastic job. I've had huge cypress and pine trees taken down, and big 25+ foot maples re-shaped and cleared of dead/dying stuff and crazy crossing branches. They've always been careful, deliberate, and thorough. These guys did a great job trimming some enormous branches off two enormous trees in my yard. Nothing like seeing a guy climbing a tree with a chainsaw- very inspiring! One of the trees was being trimmed so we could regain our view, and the guy in the tree was very patient as I told him which branches needed to come off. Of course once the branches started to come off, I realized there were a couple more that needed to go, and he didn't seem annoyed. They worked safely and were careful to not damage any of the bushes below the tree. And they cleaned up wonderfully. I thought the price was very reasonable considering one guy spent about 2 1/2 hours climbing around in my trees 20 feet off the ground and there was another hour or so of cleanup time. I was referred to them by my neighbor, who was also very happy. They had this service come out twice to take care of different trees in their yard. Happy with my recent experience. During Snowmageddon one of our trees had a large branch fall off. We asked for recommendations on Nextdoor and Washington Tree Experts sounded like they'd fit the bill. They were able to come out rather quickly to do an estimate, which included cutting back branches that were overhanging our neighbors' patio. It took a while to get the actual cutting and limb removal done, but that was more because of my schedule than theirs. These guys were great and very professional. They were quick to make appointment to view tree I wanted removed and estimate was recieved the next day. We scheduled the removal and crew arrived and quickly and safely removed the tree. It was just a few feet from back of our house surrounded by rhododenron and rose bushes. The crew worked carefully to protect house and plants, stacked limbs to yard as we were going to do cleanup and they cut trunk into requested lengths for firewood. We had an excellent experience with Washington Tree Experts completing two jobs for us, having a tree removed and another trimmed. They arrived on time as scheduled and worked efficiently. This is the second time in 2 years that we have used Washington Tree Experts and they are who we will call in the future. Two years ago they removed an extremely tall fir tree that was near our house and a fence. As they climbed the tree they cut off the branches and made a nest out of them to catch the sections of wood that they cut off on their way back down the tree. When they were done, they cleaned up all the brush very thoroughly. Today we had them cut down a dead fir tree that was very tall and they used the same technique. We had them leave the branches and wood this time as it was in the woods where it was okay to leave it. I am happy to give them a 5 star rating as they arrive on time, do what they say they are going to do, and are reasonably priced and charge what the estimate says they'll charge. "Overzealous" is the most polite word I can muster. They were told to trim branches that had grown onto roofs and to thin trees for more light. Instead of cutting back from the toof, they sawed branches off at the trunk. No thinning, just branch removal. read more

I needed a smaller amount of arborist chips and they were able to accommodate that request. They were delivered in a timely manner and the driver was able to very accurately dump the chips on a tarp provided on the corner of the driveway. All and all I was very pleased with the service. read more

They did a good job (on what was agreed upon) and arrived on time for both the estimate and the job. The reason for the one star...when they arrived for the job, which was actually our neighbor's tree that was getting removed on the property line, they failed to ever let us know they were there as the scheduling person said they would knock on our door before proceeding. In the process, they removed two nice and healthy arborvitaes that we had and would have taken down the whole row of them, if we did not come out and talk to them. So not pleased at all. The foreman even slipped and said that the arborvitaes were in his "workpath". They did take some dead vegetation out for us for free, but they had to actually borrow some of my husband's tools for this and knocked a cap off of one of our fenceposts in the process. The action of taking out healthy trees and never consulting with us for work being done on our property is totally unprofessional, not to mention, the borrowing of tools and damage to the fencepost. For these actions, we will never use them again, nor recommend them to anyone. read more

Would not recommend they have done two jobs for us. The last job they came three hours late and did not call to let me know they were running late. I had to call them to see if they were coming at all! Since they were late they didn't have time to do extra work that I had requested on the phone that they said they would be able to do. I set up another day for three weeks later...got the first appointment of the day. Received a phone call the morning of saying they wouldn't be out due to snow. There was a dusting of snow on the grass only!!! The rude Jennifer told me on the phone they couldn't get their equipment out due to the snow. I asked her where it was located and she said North Seattle. I just drove to Shoreline and back at 7:00AM to 8:30AM and NO SNOW whatsoever on the roads and it is currently raining and 40 degrees. My appointment was for 9:00. Jennifer said she was looking out her window and there was a bunch of snow which is a total lie. Would not recommend this kind of rude and unreliable disservice. read more
