Read all of these reviews!!! I've been seeing Dr. Wasser for four weeks and it's been insane. Each time, I waited in excess of ONE HOUR to be seen. My blood tests consisted of 20 tests (!). There's nothing wrong with me - I went to him for sleep apnea. That was followed by another overnight test for asthma and this week I was scheduled for an EKG and other tests. When I called to reschedule my appointment (due to excessive hours at his office and taking tests I didn't need), I was told I didn't cancel withIN three days notice and would be charged $200. I tried to cancel on Friday but they were closed! Their office hours are non existent and reaching a live person is always a challenge. Update: just received a note from his office (see image). Scam artist. When other health care providers tell you to avoid a particular doctor, they're usually right. New patients are treated with kid gloves, and made to feel like they have a caring and attentive physician. That facade fades in a few months after he's charged your insurance for thousands of dollars for fake diagnoses, unnecessary PFTs every single visit (at least twice a month) unnecessary at home pulse oximetry and sleep apnea tests, and charges you $200 for a no show appointment that you cancelled in person the previous week. This Dr is horrible! He refuses to see patients for no reason. My Mother had tests done and they had an appt. to get her results. When she went, the office told her that her appt. was cancelled. We never received notification that it was cancelled. On top of that, My Mother said, I need my results. He refused to give it to her. He then said he will send them to her primary, but her primary cannot read them to her as she did ask for those tests. This Dr. is a disaster! read more

Beyond a nightmare. At first he seems thorough, but the closer you look the more you'll see that the apparent thoroughness is controlling and manipulative to milk you and your insurance for everything they can. Even if you do everything he asks, if you didn't have it done yesterday he'll kick you out of the practice. He'll make you do tests you just got done so he can bill for them. He expects you to be there basically every day to bill you and bill you and bill you. And then he'll bill you even if he's under your insurance, but you won't be able to get in touch with them to work it out because they never answer their phones and deactivate you on patient portal and still expect you to pay. In-office wait times are the only thing more egregious than their phone hold times. It would be laughable if it wasn't so serious. This hardly begins to touch on the full breadth of my concerns. Dr Wasser subjects his patients to extraordinarily long waits; yet, if they are ill, he expects them to prioritize his visit over other specialties. He charges $275 for a visit if it is not canceled more than 3 days prior and requires the patient to come in every 10 days to 3 weeks. Recently, when I was sick with another issue, he required a dr note. While this was insulting enough, I complied. When I showed up for my next appointment, I was told the Dr note was not sufficient and that my appointment was canceled. He did not even have the decency to come and speak with me in person. In three years, I have canceled 3 appointments, once when I had covid. It is clear that what he really wanted was the fee, not for me to get better. read more

This guy is a crook, I made an appointment for a week out, and then they called me to come in the next day for a first visit. I told them that I needed to make adjustments to my schedule, and maybe I could come in. I called them back to tell them I could not make it the next day, now they tell me I owe them $200 for a missed appointment, what a joke. I have now been getting daily texts that I owe him $200. I am now in the process of reporting him to the state of CT. For fraud, stay away from this guy! read more

If I could post 0 stars I would! I don't see how he gets away with this, every 4 days to 1 week appointments! I would try to get the earliest appointment as I needed to get to work, YET be there early, I would wait in the waiting room atleast 30-45 minutes, then go into the exam room and wait another 45 minutes a few times OVER 1 hr 15 minutes, (needless to say on 4 occasions I nearly lost my job due to this)! When I first started going I wanted to pay the co pay which was $45. at each visit, nope the receptionist would not accept it and stated to see what my insurance paid, this went on from early November through end of February. About 2 months in every 4 days to 7 day appts. THEN they started telling me as soon I walked in I had a balance. Then the bills started. Everyweek was this test he demanded that after quite a few times my Insurance would not pay it anylonger, When I asked the insurance they had told me every 4-5 days was excessive, and I should probably be in the hospital! He has NO bedside manners so to say, telling me my appearance was MUCH MUCH older than my age! I would not see 68 yrs old! I thought I was going to die within 2 yrs!!! He had sent me for every test you can possibly think of, ekg, ultra sounds 3 times, 23 vials on blood for blood tests in one sitting...the list goes On and On. Still he always checked his Portal (PC) one week I'd have this, then next I don't have that, then I had something else! WTH He claimed to my insurance I had pnemonia, which I never had, I had Bronchitis another time, never did! I had to cancel an appt. which I did over 1 week before the appt. and yet they were charging me $200.00!!! I went in for an appt. one, I beleive my last appt before I refused to go back there..and they demanded I pay them MORE than I owed them for future appts. which I didn't pay...or they were going to cancel the appt. I was there for and charge another $200.00. He prescribed me one medicine told me and called it in to take 1 time per day Then asked me if I was taking it 2 times per day....He hasn't a clue...just depends on his portal. Never Again! Stay away from this one! I have yet to go to another Pulmonologist after HIM! He's all out for your Money...besides that he has NO CARE! Now I'm paying the bill on a fixed income $25.-$50. per month and they send me to collections! Again it's all about the almighty dollar there! Find Another Pulmonologist! Oh and another issue, the last time I went there he told me how my lung(s) were so congested...the next day I went for my annual check up at my regular dr. whom told me My Lungs Sound Crystal Clear for My Age!!! I went to this office for a serious medical condition- on my first visit, I was led to believe that he truly cared about my situation. By the second visit his intentions seemed suspect as he said he had to see me every day, on my 3rd visit - after overhearing the office staff arguing with patients over mandatory payments that must be made prior to seeing the doctor I knew this practice was a scam and by the 4th I absolutely knew he was nothing but a snake oil salesman and I found a new doctor. I am now in a position where I'm trying to get refunds for the copayment they charged me when in fact, I did not have a copayment and my insurance paid the bill- in full! I have explanation of benefits from my insurance company that clearly indicate I have zero responsibility. This office staff charged me $50 per visit on principle if I do not get my money back I will be taking them to small claims court. read more

My experience with Dr. Wasser was the same as most of the posts here. At first I was impressed with his thorough workup, then I felt, with the excessive office visits and testing that I was in a mill. Every office visit meant a wait of an hour or so, even when I was sick. After multiple office visits, he could not remember who I was or any details of my case. He would of course have his computer in front of him to remind him as the visit proceeded, but it was strange. I was just notified that he fired me as a patient. What a relief. I wouldn't have lasted much longer anyway. He was reluctant to work with me on medication side effects, and my intolerance of the c-pap machine. It's his way or the highway. 32 visits requested by Dr Wasser was considered excessive for my wife even by Anthem BlueCross/Blue Shield. We lodged a complaint and they will be doing a peer review. Also they have the balls to charge for a missed appointment if you have a family emergency or are legitimately in the Emergency Room. $200 fee personally charged. He is a hack who is more focused on money than on the Hippocratic Oath all Doctors are supposed to have taken. AVOID this doctor and practice. My husband became a patient and we were wondering why he was required to keep coming back every single week. Each time we were charged a copay and a separate charge for spirometry, that is posted out front however we were unaware it applied to us (we had no idea what spirometry meant). You must pay the copay in advance. My husband went in for his appointment, Dr. Wasser was more than an hour and twenty minutes late, my husband had to leave to go to work and informed the staff he had to leave. Each week Dr. Wasser was coming later and later to the appointments my husband had, and on this day he called ahead of time to see if the doctor was running late, we were told it's the first appointment after lunch so there are no other appointments ahead of you, so to come in. Upon learning my husband had left, Dr. Wasser immediately dropped my husband as a patient without notice and sent us a $200 missed appointment fee. He refuses to speak to anyone by phone and he tells his staff he is the only one who can undo this fee, so we have been continually billed for this fee. Dr. Wasser also had my husband go for a test to which he never provided results. We have filed grievances with the insurance company as well as filing a complaint with the state attorney general, I suggest you do so as well if you have similar complaints. There is a fee notice about the $200 in the lobby, however if you notice when you become a patient you're required to sign (and interestingly not DATE) a form saying you agree to this $200 fee, however it says you must speak to a member of the staff to cancel any appointment three days prior. THE STAFF RARELY ANSWERS THE PHONE so cancelling any appointment is extremely difficult. You will be charged $1.00 if you need to use one of their face masks. If you request copies of your records, they charge you per page, I think it was $0.65/page and you will see you quickly have tons and tons of pages because Dr. Wasser is always sending you for some test. If you change doctors, you will have a difficult time getting your records sent because 1. they rarely answer the phone 2. do not always respond to records requests from other doctors (we learned this as we found a new doctor and they told us they have a very difficult time getting records from his office.). However we did eventually receive records. Dr. Wasser and his partner were fined $2000 each in the past for non-medical staff performing X-rays (I believe that's the charge, the fines were civil). We found Dr. Wasser's bedside manner cold, arrogant, and unpleasant. We were charged a copay not only for administering a test, but a separate copay for someone to READ the test. Insane to us, but apparently it's a practice. With the number of tests you may be sent for, this will become very costly. read more

I wish I could subtract stars for this money-grubbing grifter. I made an appointment with this creep on a Weds for the following Monday. Wednesday night I read alarming negative reviews of him. I'm paraphrasing here but the theme of the reviews was that Wasser is overly concerned with making a buck and subjects patients to multiple procedures or tests for which he can bill. Let me start off by saying if they let me give 0 stars, I would. Wasser is a complete joke. The only good thing about going is the friendly front desk staff. All this guy wants to do is schedule several appointments for you, ensuring money every time. He doesn't seem to really care about you, as much as your wallet. I also spent 1 hour and 49 minutes in his office for a 6 minute visit that went NOWHERE. Not even a single apology for being late. If you tell me to come in for a 10:00 am appointment and I come in at 9:55, tell me why I left at 11:49 with no changes. Now, on to the communication. There isn't any. They tell you to create a portal account and you'll have all your medical history and records on there, plus it's the way to speak to Wasser, because apparently he doesn't do phone calls. After a few attempts at trying to get him to tell me exactly what he means by 'there's a problem with your blood work', I gave up. Also regarding the portal, they tell you to use that if you need to cancel any appointments. That's fine, but when I did that more than the 24 hours they ask for, I still got charged $75 for a 'no show'. $75??? Are you INSANE? Also, if you end up missing out on picking up a small oxygen sensor that you need overnight at your own house, that's a $100 no show charge apparently. All in all, this guy just wants money. He doesn't care about you whatsoever. Find a different pulmonary specialist. This guy is a certified quack. Oh, and one more thing, Doc.. Button your shirt next time, this isn't 1980s Miami Vice, it's a doctors office. read more

My husband and I have been seeing Dr. Wasser for the past 5 weeks. During that time the Doctor seemed competent and informative. He scheduled various tests for both of us so he could determine what is going on (blood tests, CT scans, X-Rays, etc.). At each visit, the doctor required a spirometry test and a FeNO test. During these 5 weeks, there was NO change in treatment and all visits were basic and to review prior results. I recently learned the spirometry test was not covered by insurance. As there were no treatments to date that would alter the results of this test I declined to take this test on a weekly basis. Once a month would be sufficient, especially because there was no treatment happening that could impact results. While at the office today, because I refused the test, the doctor refused to see me even though I had a scheduled appointment. He didn't have time and was busy. I informed the staff my logic for refusing, and unfortunately, they ended up being the middlemen and relayed my concerns to the doctor. I requested to speak to the doctor directly, as my husband and I were both there for our scheduled appointments. He refused. To make matters worse, because I would not take the test, he also refused to see my husband. I had seen previous reviews implying that this was a money-grabbing operation, but because I felt he was competent and was truly trying to ascertain what was going on we decided to continue seeing him. However, because I refused this one test, this one time, he refused to see us both. So much for being a dedicated physician!! Unprofessional to say the least!! I definitely do NOT recommend seeing Dr. Wasser as all you will get is a 15-minute meeting once a week, every week, and no opportunity to have a conversation with the doctor if you have concerns about his testing. read more

I am up-dating my rating for Dr. Larry Wasser. It has taken another direction. I had to remove myself from what started to become a toxic/cult environment. I spent exactly 1 hour for each appointment sitting/waiting in a room to see Dr. Wasser. I even made what would be his first appointment for the day and still waited 45 min. This went on for four months. Appointments were being made via text without my knowledge and with their 3 day cancellation policy leaving no time to address/cancel. I was threatened each time with not allowing any refills if I cancelled appointment. I made every attempt to cover myself by indicating on the Portal not to schedule any appointments. Dr. Wasser made no attempt to resolve this issue. Most of the noise in the waiting room was listening to Patients coming in the door complaining about this problem and Patients on speaker phone with their personal information. This is WRONG! I was turned over to a collection agency for not showing up for an appointment I didn't make and had no knowledge of. I had to seek out a replacement for my medical needs. read more

I was wiped clean of all services for canceling 1 visit. I have had 17 office visits from 1/31-5/20. My next appointment was scheduled for 6/1/20 with another scheduled on 6/16/20. Had plans to go out of town so I called in plenty of time to cancel the 6/1/20 appointment. This is the only appointment I have canceled. Apparently, office policy is you must have two or more appointments on the schedule to be considered a patient. Dr Wasser instructed his staff to pull my portal access, isn't this my medical info that I paid for??? He Ignored numerous requests for prescription refills from my pharmacy and myself for medications he has prescribed I take daily. We are talking medications to breath better???? They book multiple appointments in same time slot, wait time for each of my 17 visits were always over an hour. Front office staff is obnoxiously loud and sarcastic. I have witnessed incoming elderly patients be drilled on billing balances and told they had to pay to be seen. I found this VERY disturbing to witness, not to mention the humiliation the incoming patient must have felt! The office is totally micromanaged by Dr Wasser, he is all about milking as much money he can from you and your insurance. Dr Wasser has his staff trained to book very well correlated appointments to bring in the most money per month from you whether you need the appointment or not. While he may be knowledgeable in his field he is extremely lacking in office / business management. The staff is far from happy go lucky and cheerful. I have to say that I feel so much better not going to that office anymore. I went in angst and left the same way or worse because the whole experience is uncomfortably bizarre. Dr Larry Wasser is controlling with a loaded god complex. In my opinion, any Dr who withholds medication and / or denies a patient access to their online portal medical info, whether a current or past patient is not a Dr concerned with the welfare of his patient. It is a tactic to control a human being. He possesses a cold rude bedside manner as he tends to be more concerned with a laptop, he stares at during your visit rather than giving you the appropriate Dr, patient interaction. read more

Dr. Larry Wasser and his team of nurses and office staff deserve more than simple kudos. Upon entering the office, Brittany and Jamie (front desk) are friendly and down to earth, making you feel comfortable immediately. The response turn around time to messages I leave on the office voicemail is nearly immediate. They consistently go above and beyond (helping set up testing at other facilities, sending records to other physicians, etc.). The nurses are also friendly and obviously medically knowledgeable. When I've left (many) messages on the patient portal directly for Dr. Wasser, he has responded within a couple of hours at the most, (which I have found not common with any of the myriad of physicians I have seen in the past 9 months) even at times the office is closed! Dr. Wasser is incredibly competent as a pulmonologist, but extremely knowledgeable of medicine far outside the realm of pulmonology as well. After many months of my experiencing health problems that other specialists have been unable to diagnose, Dr. Wasser has been extremely thorough, and seems genuinely concerned and determined to 'solve' my (lack of) health mystery. Although the wait time is sometimes a bit long, when it is my turn to be seen by Dr. Wasser, he gives me full attention and has never rushed me, answering all of my (millions) of questions, validating each, considers my requests and hypotheses, and has always spoken to me and explained medical issues to me with full respect. There are two things that concern Dr. Wasser. Those are money and complete control of your life. You'll have to sign more documents and promissory agreements than when leasing a car. He will not work within the parameters of your insurance and cares not of your economic concerns. He orders tests and bloodwork way more than I've ever encountered. I just got a bad feeling talking to him on my first visit. I rescheduled my second visit and received a call that if I didn't come in that week he was dropping me as a patient. Actually I was relieved for this as I wouldn't have to deal with his medical bullying and controlling persona. I was seeing Dr Wasser for almost a year. One red flag was that I had to attend appointments weekly, which my primary Dr warned me that he may be milking insurance companies because weekly visits is a bit excessive. Then, I had a mandatory week of training for my job out of state and I gave them a week's notice that I needed the week to be appointment free because I was unable to go due to me being out of state for work training that I had to attend, next thing I know, I get a phone call from his receptionist telling me that if I did not attend the appointment the Dr was going to discontinue my treatment! That is the most unethical thing I have ever heard of. The only other time I ever reschedule was one time months prior. Not to mention every time I saw him he forgot important information about me each time and I had to remind him why I was there. It was probably the worst care I have ever been to. Also it felt like almost every week I was going for blood work and x-rays and tests, and my health isn't that bad. If I could give zero stars I would. Absolute horrible place, it's clear that this place cares only for receiving insurance payments and not about patient care what so ever! read more

Dr Wasser is an exceptional doctor. I recently began seeing him with a fairly complicated condition. He was extremely thorough and was able to give me a diagnosis and treatment. Throughout the process, he was very attentive and dedicated. He's a good listener, and I never felt rushed. He really dedicates himself to each patient's care - and that is exactly what you want if you need to see a pulmonologist. Honestly, I feel like he is a treasure. I'm grateful to have found him. He's very sharp, and I feel confident recommending him to anyone who needs a pulmonologist. His office staff is also highly competent and caring which is really helpful. read more

From the warm welcome at the front desk, to the medical office staff, and finally the appointment-booking staff on the way out, everyone is knowledgeable, professional, conscientious, kind, and patient.
