Order a dumpster on Tuesday for Wednesday delivery, and it's here by 4pm. They then change it out at 10:30am on Thursday as an end-of-the-day pick up, and won't come out again until Friday morning Show up on Friday and won't come out again until Monday. They finally agree to come out on Saturday, but don't do it. Arrange to keep the dumpster for five extra days, and then they immediately pick it up. They won't turn the driver around and put it back, even tho I called within a 1/2 hour of him taking it, because they don't have enough drivers. Promise to bring the dumpster back first thing on Friday, after Thanksgiving, and deliver it at 3:30pm Now it's sitting there, full, with another 30 yards of debris sitting next to it, in a 12 day excursion that should have been over in three, and which ran more than twice the original estimate. At least I didn't let them deliver their smallest dumpster (to remove the debris from tearing down a house) like they wanted. Sure wish they'd told me they had a 40 yard dumpster And what did I pay for this dumpster? End charge: over $2,300. Charges to deliver the dumpster (like you would order it, but not have it delivered), charges for fuel to deliver, charges to pick it up, charges for fuel for that. These people think its ok to pick up commercial dumpsters at 4:30 am. The business that gets the trash pick up is surrounded by houses. Houses with people that work for a living. I could understand 7. I could even understand 6:30, but 4:30 am on monday Wednesday and friday? I guess i need to file noise complaints. My neighborhood uses Waste Management and I have never had any issues. I was disheartened to look back at old reviews talking about awful service- but I have not had that experience at all. In fact I came to Yelp to review an excellent service representative. Today I saw an ad in the Mint magazine, so I called to ask for the promotion. I spoke with a rep named Amy. She was very friendly and not only did she apply the promotion, but she credited my account the difference since I had just recently paid for the quarter. I was very happy with this call. I was on such a high that I then tried to haggle Comcast, who promptly shot me down, making Amy look even better. She also advised that every year or two, WM comes out to do an assessment and charges rates based on your area. If my bill increases after the assessment, just call back and they can lower it once again. Very helpful. 10/10 experience. read more

If I could put negative stars, I would! We had WM for several years with few problems; but we moved a few streets over and the problems multiplied. I couldn't get them to pick up my trash and recyclables! Every week for four weeks, they "missed" us and I had to call. Finally after the fourth week, I cancelled the service and asked for the containers to be removed. That was over a month ago. After several calls and emails, I finally heard back today that they were on a FOUR MONTH DELAY IN PICKING UP CONTAINERS!! Really?? FOUR MONTHS?? Apparently, they must not have enough new customers. I wish I could change companies but I cannot since I live in the city. The customer service is awful. I call the company after months of the drivers leaving the trash bins in the middle of the entrance of my driveway. The rep argues with me that there is no way my cans can be in the middle of the driveway if I didn't leave them there for pickup. I tell her to please just notate I am making a complaint and she tells me she cannot but she can redirect me to the City of Knoxville. Watch out for their fuel and environmental fees that they don't add to the quote. On our bill, there was an additional $60.00 fees that were not originally quoted or brought up as we were negotiating with them. Also, their cancellation fees are $1,173.00 for 2 dumpsters. I'm about to cancel our service. We called them right away when we moved to Knoxville because we had used them in Florida and had good service. Here they are awful. They've decided apparently not even to come on the weeks when there is a holiday, and heaven forbid a flake of snow falls!!! Thursday (with snow all over the ground) the competitor's trash trucks were out. But on Friday when the roads were completely clear, no Waste Management. Wow! AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE! We were customers with them for 14 years and changed to a competitor due to their ever-increasing rates. They canceled our account, then never came to pick up their can (which sat out at our curb for a month because every time I called they kept telling me they'd get it - never did). Then, they auto-charged us for the next month's payment. When I called to remind them we had canceled, they refunded the money. Then the overdue notices started coming. Again, I called them and was assured there was no balance due and that we wouldn't be receiving any more notices. THEN THE COLLECTION NOTICES STARTED!
