The worst service in garbage pick-up that I have ever experienced throughout the country. Trash cans are frequently thrown down in mud, over a fence, in blackberry bushes. Garbage is left strewn about. Cans left open in winter when it's raining so they fill with water. I have some mobility issues and called them several times (must sit on hold at least once each call and it will take a long time to get a person). They have no supervisors and will not address any issues for at least a week, but they bill you like they are picking up every week. I tried to cancel -- could not find a way on their website to cancel. Sent them an email -- they still keep bugging me about a bill I will not pay since I quit using there service long ago. It was easier and cheaper to have extra cans at home and have a young man help me dump them at the county trash site. This company should be ashamed and the authorities that hire them should be ashamed but when I contacted the Utility Division in WA state that contracts with them they were also unhelpful. We need a local WA service that is proud of their work and responsible. read more

I wish I could give zero stars. This is the only company I've ever heard of that flat out doesn't do what they are paid to do. They don't pick up when they're supposed too. A month has gone by since my neighborhood had recycling picked up(which by the way, is just another money grab on their part). No emails, no texts, no heads up of when or if we will have service. Yet, they are still charging the full price. WM is a joke in California ad well. If I didn't have mandatory pick up, I wouldn't be wasting my time with them. I don't blame the drivers at all. Waste Management makes no effort to correct their mistakes. I had an incident where my trash can was only half emptied, and waste management refused to come out and complete the job until the next scheduled pickup. Any other business when inadvertently doing a partial job would be out at the earliest available opportunity to correct their mistake. Waste Management will not take any corrective action if that action costs their company time or money. As they are the only provider in my area, they have a monopoly on service. Absolutely terrible company. Their website is incomprehensible, it is very difficult to find information, the chat does not work well, stops communication without answering questions. Calls are not answered. It is impossible to contact them by phone. Incomprehensible billing. They charge for recycling and yard/food waste although this should be included in the trash fee. I recently moved to Washington state and I am very surprised how terrible the waste management company is here. read more

I have never had such a terrible experience with customer service for a company that brags about their good customer service. It's virtually impossible to talk to a live person on the phone, and the automated and virtual chat assistance systems absolutely suck. They can only give you limited answers, most of which are already scripted, and may not even answer your questions. If there was a different garbage service available I would switch immediately. The prices keep going up, and the level of service and reliability keeps going down. I have never disliked a company as much as I dislike Waste Management. WORST SERVICE EVER! I pay EXTRA for "carry out" service which means one of the people have to walk down my driveway to get my garbage and or recycling. I pretty much have to call them EVERY week because they drive right by my address. I have talked to many people and many supervisors and still nothing changes. Not that this review matters because this is our only option and what need is there for good customer service if, you, the customer, have nowhere else to go... BUT here goes.. I called on 10/21/20 to cancel our yard waste and request a new trash can because ours was broken. We live up a hill off of a busy street and we think someone must have crashed into it because there is a massive crack in it (that fills with water when it rains.) The lady was very nice and scheduled us for 10/28/2020. They would pick up our yard waste and replace the can. On 10/28 that did not happen. I called in and she said they sent me an email to reschedule for 11/4. On the morning of 11/4 the wheel kept popping off on the way down the hill-- We just kept shoving back on. 11/4 no pick-- email rescheduling for 11/11. 11/11 continuing to deal with the wheel popping off down on the way down the hill. 4pm-ish no pick-up and now the wheel axle was busted and missing a wheel (I'm assuming from trash pick up). I called customer service to let them know about the trash can and asked if I could bring the broken trash to them and swap it out myself since I know that they were short staffed and I really needed a trash can. He reassured me that I was on the pick-up list and that they would be by in the next couple of hours to swap it out. 11/13-- no pick-up. I called customer service again asking if I could PLEASE bring it to them and swap it myself. He said normally yes, but in this case no, because of a "lack of inventory". I am still not understanding what that has to do with the fact that they haven't picked up the yard waste can, but ignore that, and instead ask if I could just buy my own and use that.. He told me that if I did that, due to policy, I would only be able to do it temporarily while I wait on inventory.. We decided against paying $100 for a trash can we would use a couple of times. read more

Actually zero stars. Paying for a service we are not getting. They have decided unilaterally to pick up only once per month verses twice per month which is what we signed on for. Still paying the same rate and they won't provide additional containers while we hold the recyclables for an additional two weeks. to add insult to injury, we pack it down the driveway on the scheduled date only to schlep the wet mess back up the driveway after they once again FAIL to do what they are being paid to do. Can't even bother to let their customers know they are going to FAIL again. But since we can't choose a different service provider, they continue to profit, while continuing to FAIL. read more

Who ever my boyfriend spoke to on the phone was absolutely horrible. The first person when the concern was brought up goes oh that sucks and hung up on him. The second person he talked to just kept saying I'm sorry for your frustration without doing anything useful. After not having a garbage can the entire first quarter and not providing any service what so ever nothing was able to be done about it. Second quarter we did have a garbage can for about half the time but from bad weather a lot of times it never got picked up for probably a solid month or so (I didn't keep a solid record). Either way I'm not pleased with the non existent service we received, nor the follow up for how it was handled by waste management. read more

3 weeks with no yard waste pickup. Called to get credit but they wouldn't. Apparently, a wet street at 50 degrees is justification for "adverse weather" even though trash and recycle trucks came. I'm now out of town for a period of time with a pile of yard waste that I paid for pickup that Waste Management wouldn't. Absolutely terrible that they can get by with 3 consecutive weeks with no service and not give you a credit. I cancelled in July, in August they stole (took money that was not owed them) money from my checking account, it is now November and I have yet to get my money back. This organization is either extremely "effed up" or they are crooked. Constantly missing pick ups (for our entire street) randomly. Constantly change the pick up schedule with no notification (again, you can tell, as ENTIRE STREET misses) and then claim they mailed you a paper schedule. Which never arrives. And you cannot obtain this information online - it says "refer to paper schedule" or "go to your local office". Drivers constantly tell dispatch cans aren't at curb when they are. Unfortunately we have ZERO options for other pick up service. Update: STILL A ZERO STAR REVIEW. Contacted today again, apparently the rep sent me the wrong schedule yesterday and sometime in December they changed our pick up date and didn't tell us. So basically won't be picking up, even though it's their error that they NEVER send out updated schedules until someone complains about missed pick ups. read more

When you have a monopoly and your customers can't go anywhere else, why try harder? In fact, why even do what you are paid to do? Waste Management has this strategy figured out. Missed pickups, glass shattered in the street, every excuse in the book but no accountability. Currently, I have been waiting for them to deliver a recycling cart for over a month. Lots of promises, so far no action. Of course, they don't seem to have an issue with billing me for putting out the cart I don't have. You would think that providing a way for customers to put things at the curb, then actually picking those things up would be pretty basic feature in the business model for a waste collection company, but it appears this is far from common sense for Waste Management. These guys deserve no stars. Not only is the general service terrible, but the customer service lacks class, integrity and decency. Unfortunately you don't have a choice in waste services. If we did people would flock, overwhelmingly to the competition. Better Business Bureau, State Offices and web search's all yield a long history of upset customers. Be sure to register your complaints with the BBB and Attorney General. Working directly with Waste Management only proved to be a frustrating waste of time with no documentation with agencies that can effect change in their poor business practices. read more

How are these guys aloud to pick up garbage between 2:30am -5am in West Seattle? I found out there is a city noise ordinance that doesn't apply to my neighborhood, however, they should be respectful and good neighbors and wait until 7am. It is way too loud and disturbing that early in the morning. read more

I echo the other posting. Horrible and they make billing a mystery. Sounds like our state is aware of the suckness, but they are not doing much about it. The best way to get billing questions answered is to call the main 800 number the route through new service. read more

This is hands down the worst customer service I've EVER dealt with. The covid relief (or lack there of) they offered to their customers that can only have them as a garbage service is terrible. Poor service. It's okay for them to miss a pickup and then when you complain rather than give you credit they show up at a later date thus negating the need for that next pickup. Conversely they can't wait to charge extra if the lid is even slightly ajar. read more

They skip our trash pick up 3 out of every 4 times. We call each instance and on the days when we aren't put on hold for a significant period of time, the administrative office is accommodating and removes the charge for that week. However, the pickup crew continues to not pick up our trash, even though we have an account. Our neighbors have the same issue. Please figure out a better way to label our neighborhood so that our trash is not left in our cans while we are paying you to pick it up. read more

God-awful customer service. Called 5 times over the past few weeks because they haven't picked up my compost in over a month. Kept getting the run-around... "Oh we will make a note for the driver. Oh we will notify a supervisor. Oh we will file a dispute," and my favorite "I'll write a really STERN note to dispatch." Horrendous service. This company is a monopoly. All too often they miss our garbage pick up and with the new bi-weekly pickup it STINKS by the end of the month. They give mostly lip-service and call it done. There's been a few times where they try to charge us overage because of the pickup. The driver occasionally drives strait past our cul de sac. We've complained about this before and they don't give a crap. When all ten neighbors complain they are forced to come out. But they complain, complain, complain. I'm a small business owner in the Renton Wa area. About 3 weeks ago a eye WITNESS watched a Waste Management truck take a corner to sharp and ran over my chain-link fence destroying half of it. The driver backs up and retakes the corner and drives off. Immediately call waste management to report the incident and they assured me they would take care of it and was apologetic. They sent someone out to evaluate the fence and said they would get back to us ASAP. I've heard nothing from them. When I called and called leaving messages for three different departments, no one has returned my calls. I call customer service and asked about the status of my claim and she said they found no fault in the destruction of my fence. So I have now filed a hit in run/damage report to the city of Renton and police department next is a call to my lawyer. Thank you waste management for your cooperation. read more

I can't even give them a STAR. I have been trying to contact the to discuss options on lowering my service fee. With the children out of the house we on down to using one 38 gallon receptacle per week. I called in March and left a message to call or e-mail me. Funny the voice mail said they were out for the holidays starting December 23, returning in January. I then went to their web chat and left message in late April, I actually received a response indicating someone from their office would call me in 5 business days. It is now June 12 and still no call. Maybe time to take trash to their office and dump it. I can do that for free. read more

Terrible service. They've missed either our recyclables or garbage every week. When I scheduled a missed collection they told me that it would be picked up within 48 hours. Four days later, the garbage is still on the curb. Their excuse is always that they don't see the cans which is an obvious lie. This is very typical of union workers. read more
