I had SEVERAL issues with this company when I first started using them. I was SOOOOOO irritated that I figured out the email address of the CEO. And I wrote him. At around 3am in the morning. And guess what? By 5am - had responded - and cc'ed the district manager - along with the manager over my specific area. I was bombarded with emails and phone calls, apologizing me. I am writing this review because my sister's business has been dealing with a serious and ongoing dumpster and billing issue with Waste Management, and despite numerous phone calls, emails, and repeated explanations, the matter is still not completely resolved. I am assisting my sister with this issue and have been communicating with Waste Management on her behalf. The issue began when she started receiving repeated $225 overage charges. We immediately questioned these charges because the business does not generate enough trash to regularly exceed the capacity of its dumpster. More importantly, we had specifically requested a locking system/lock bar for the dumpster to prevent other businesses, customers, or unauthorized individuals from using it. When we contacted Waste Management, we were told that there were photographs showing the alleged overage. However, after looking into the situation, we became concerned that the dumpster shown in the photographs may not have been the dumpster assigned to her business. There are five dumpsters behind the shopping center, and when my sister's business dumpster was originally delivered, no one identified which dumpster belonged to our business. We were never clearly told which one was assigned to our account. This created a very serious problem: How can a customer be charged for overage based on a dumpster when the customer was never clearly informed which dumpster belonged to them? We also discovered that the dumpster did not have the lock bar that we had requested. Dylan, our initial Waste Management representative, explained that the locking system is designed so that the driver can unlock the dumpster when servicing it and lock it again afterward. If properly used, this system should help prevent other businesses or unauthorized individuals from putting trash into the dumpster and causing overage charges. We repeatedly explained this issue to Waste Management and asked them to investigate. Unfortunately, the problem was not resolved promptly. Instead, we had to contact multiple representatives and explain the entire situation over and over again because the information did not appear to be communicated internally. Eventually, Lorna became involved and made an effort to investigate the situation. An operations representative came to the property, identified the dumpster in question, and confirmed that it did not have the requested lock bar. Lorna then arranged for a new dumpster with a lock bar, and the new dumpster was clearly marked "Business name" so there would be no further confusion about which dumpster belongs to our business. We appreciate Lorna's efforts and her willingness to finally investigate and address the problem. She also told us that she was working on having the previous overage charges credited back to our Waste Management account. Unfortunately, as of today, the promised credit adjustment has not appeared on the account, and we have continued to receive additional overage charges. This is extremely frustrating. Our regular monthly dumpster charge is approximately $181.76, including the 4-yard dumpster service, energy surcharge, and administrative charge. Each overage charge is $225, and we have already been charged at least five times. That means the disputed overage charges alone total at least $1,125, which is more than six times our regular monthly dumpster bill. We are not simply complaining about a small billing mistake. This has become a significant financial and administrative burden for a small business. We are asking Waste Management management to immediately review this entire account and correct the billing records, including: Review all previous overage charges and remove the charges that resulted from the dumpster identification/lock-bar issue. Apply the credits that Lorna indicated would be issued. Remove any additional improper overage charges. Then provide a corrected account balance. We have spent an unreasonable amount of time making phone calls, sending emails, explaining the same situation to different representatives, and following up on charges that we believe should never have been placed on our account. We are asking Waste Management management to please take immediate action rather than requiring us to continue repeating the same information to different employees. We appreciate Lorna's efforts, but the matter is not resolved until the account is properly corrected and the disputed charges are removed. I sincerely hope someone in Waste Management management will review this case personally and contact us with a definitive resolution. Waste Management: Please do not let this issue continue. Consumer Beware. I would leave 0 star if I could. I cancelled service at the end of a billing cycle so that I would not have to pay for another 3 month period. I cancelled auto pay online and was paid up in full for service. They still went into my bank account and took the money without authorization. Now after repeated conversations, I am getting a past due bill for service I never wanted nor used. They are out for themselves and do not care about customers. The problem with Waste Management is their rapacious contract. It is outrageously stacked in their favor. About a month ago Waste Management failed a pickup. They claimed it was my fault, and I claimed was their fault. They charged me $200 (the equivalent of 6 pickups) to return. Since they were totally inflexible, I told them I didn't want them as my trash collector any more. They practically laughed in my face. Then they explained their contract. I will never be able to separate myself from Waste Management. The contract is of 3 years duration, i.e. a heck of a long time. If I cancel, I must pay them 6 months of fees (about a thousand dollars.) If I dispute it, they can sue me, and I have to pay their legal bills. The contract automatically renews, and I can only stop that after 2.5 years into the contract (which presumably I will forget to do.) Etc., etc. I am sure there are many more poison pills in their contract that I haven't noticed. And, no, it was not me who signed this contract. A guy doing property management signed it. Presumably, Waste Management knows that no property manager will ever read their contract. Clearly Waste Management is in the business of raking their customers over the coals. My advice: keep away from Waste Management! Once you sign their contract, they own you. Their lawyers will surely get you. (I notice that other reviewers documents similar experiences.) read more

While driving on Ridgewalk Parkway and on to I575 in Woodstock Ga this morning we were following a Waste Management truck with Smyrna GA USDOT 913435GA on the door and 410165 on the front of the truck. He did not have the tarp on the truck. On Ridgewalk he was blowing out some trash, but when he got on I575, heading south, he was blowing Large pieces of Styrofoam all over. The cars were dodging and he almost caused wrecks. It is against the law to drive without the tarp covering trash and someone will have to spend a lot of time cleaning up his mess. If this is the kind of service Waste Management allows I never want to do business with your company. I have pictures of the truck with the tarp rolled up and all numbers visible. read more

Doing business with WM has been a very frustrating experience. I have to check my bill closely every month because they will jack up the rate as much as possible - 50% increase once this year - until I call "customer service" and get the rate reset to the agreed amount. They do this repeatedly during the year and have done so for most of the 20 years I have reluctantly done business with them. Their latest ripoff takes the cake! New policy as of April 2019: $150 charge per incident if any garbage is above the top of the container. In my case, a tenant tossed a kitchen garbage bag on top of the container. The driver didn't have to get out of the truck and it didn't slow him down a bit. $150 add to my bill. That is more than the bill for the entire month! I say this started in April 2019 - that just happens to be the month WM completed their purchase of Advanced Disposal, a major competitor in the Atlanta area. The garbage man came on Thursday morning, moved our garbage can but didn't remove the garbage. I called them 2 times on Thursday and she put in a work order for them to come back out. No one ever showed up. On Friday I called 3 times and they said they have until 7:00 pm to come. No one shows up again. And I got the automated message said they reschedule the service to Saturday. i don't know what kind of people they're hiring, but this is unacceptable. AVOID - Our condo association has had ongoing issues that have not been solved for several months - spilling waste water, oil, hydaraullic fluid, etc. They are unsanitary slobs who refuse to fix their problems. read more

Don't waste your time or your money with this service. WORST SERVICE I HAVE EVER HAD. This is only my second quarter with this company and I have had FIVE missed pick-ups. It's a guessing game from week to week to see if my trash will get picked up. I don't know what kind of morons they have working for them, but I have had it! Last week when they missed me AGAIN, I was told that a note would be placed on my account so that it wouldn't be missed again. Well guess what? It didn't work. My trash is still sitting out there.
