I got a call this morning at 9 AM that they no longer were able to deliver the dumpster we agreed upon because over the weekend their truck that transports them had mechanical issues. The representative on the phone understood my frustration because I had taken PTO to do this project today. He then offered to bring me two 15 yard dumpsters which equals 30 yards instead of the 20 yard I ordered to make up for it. It was a fair offer in theory had they have been able to execute on their promise. At 1 o'clock, I still didn't have any dumpsters in my driveway had lost the entire day I had taken for PTO. I then called back to explain my frustration that now to do the project I have to take a second day of PTO since I wasted this one. I was told the gentleman was on the way to the dump to dump out one dumpster so they would have both of the 15s to bring me. It became a parent at that point that they're never likely was a dumpster available today. They just didn't have one and didn't wanna lose the job so made a promise to me that they could execute when they knew they couldn't. I received absolutely zero empathy for the second PTO day request, and then the gentleman on the phone started to become argumentative. I highly recommend you hire anyone but this company because they are unreliable and do not do what they say they can do. If you're relying on the affordable waste solutions to do their part to meet a project schedule or deadline whether you're in Construction or a home repair project it won't be with this company as they just feed you mistruths while they juggle their equipment to not lose out on a job. Bruce was our Estimator who failed to properly estimate the load, missing by THOUSANDS of pounds. Even after missing the estimate during the transfer from the loading truck to warehouse, they still underestimated, resulting in an improper dispatch to a driver. A significant portion of our household goods (all kitchen items, kids clothing and other major essentials) were left behind. General Manager Reno confirmed the entire mess, including the improper decision to crate remaining items, was Hughes' failure. For the next 3 weeks it was nothing but lies and empty promises. Our goods were lost for some time, then found then delayed over and over again. Hughes committed to financial compensation for their grave errors to be discussed once goods arrived. Still to this day, no reach out or resolution from them- not to mention we are still missing boxes from inventory. We paid $11,000 to avoid the pains of moving, yet because of the sloppy, dishonest and unprofessional nature of Hughes who doesn't even have the integrity to follow through on their commitment to make this right, this has been a nightmare. Do not, under any circumstances allow Hughes Relocation to be involved in your move- Whether independent or via United or Mayflower. Untrustworthy. A BBB complaint has been filed and all continued effort to bring consumer awareness to this company will continue. Businesses should never be allowed to operate like this and this will not be dropped as long as Hughes continues to pretend they can skirt responsibility for their admitted failures.

We didn't catch all the errors but they pretty much just threw things in boxes and tired to not pack things. Lots of stuff ended up broken. What is the point in buying picture boxes if you just throw pictures (with glass) into boxes with other things? Beyond the boxes, our kitchen table came to us with a big crack. This was more than likely due to them loosening the legs and then putting heavy objects on top of the table. Similarly, my daughter's play set was broken, a crib was broken, chairs had holes put in them. To add insult to injury, they picked our stuff up in an 18 wheeler and then unloaded it at some depot, only to put half of it in another truck for the move! Our stuff was not all brought and they had to send the second half 2 weeks later! Who has time for all this. Also, the insurance they carry is worthless. When we made our claim for all the broken things they demanded to see the boxes. We moved a whole house! There were a ton of boxes! The table didn't even come in a box. What were they going to look at for that? All in all it cost me a lot of money to move and I had to buy new stuff. Piss poor work.

Unfair billing. Paid for time the movers were not there…read more The moving company was given the right address, but went to the wrong street. They also didn't write down the apartment number, which confused the issue more. They started their time, when they weren't at the apartment (almost an hour before they actually showed up). The person who scheduled the move did not write down the cell phone number I gave him, but copied my office landline from the caller ID. The move was scheduled for Saturday. This mistake lead them to be unable to reach me to clear up the confusion. I got an email that they had arrived, even though they were not there. I called to find out where they were, and nobody answered. Finally, I reached someone on the phone, 25 mins later, and was told they would call the drivers to see where they were. I was assured I would not have to pay for the time they were not there. Vanessa, the operator, stated she could not reach them, but would try again. Nearly 50 mins later, they went to right street (the street they were given in the first place) and started the move. Unfortunately, after the move was over, the driver was unable to change the start time, but assured me he would do so when he got back to the office. He admitted they were late, and lost, and I shouldn't have to pay for that time. Vanessa had also told me the same thing when we were trying to figure out where they were. I tipped both drivers $100 each for their time, and thought they'd sort out the time issue. I waited a week. They did not correct the time. I had to pay an additional $125 (which made the total bill come out to $200 more than I was quoted) because the owner is greedy and refused to correct it. My original quote was for $550 to move a one bedroom apartment in Ocala to a house in Gainesville. The total move time took around 2 hours and I was charged $700, plus the $200 I stupidly gave the drivers thinking they'd correct my bill. While the movers were nice, and relatively gentle with our things, the billing was unfair and owner does care enough about his customers to make it right. Because of this, I cannot recommend this company, nor will I use them in the future.
