After explaining that I could not continue to live in such an unsafe environment, I gave a 30-day notice and had a conversation with the property manager. He gave me the impression that, considering the circumstances, I would not be penalized for breaking the lease early. I trusted that he understood the situation and was being reasonable. To my shock, I recently discovered a charge from this property on my credit report. Not only is this incredibly frustrating, but it also feels deceptive, especially after the property manager's initial response. I would strongly caution anyone--especially families--from moving into this complex. The management does not take tenant safety seriously, and communication is misleading at best. I regret ever signing a lease here.
