My husband and I celebrated our second wedding anniversary at the Osprey Point Inn restaurant and they made us feel extra special. We started the evening off with a bottle of red wine and shared the Autum Burrata. For my meal I had The Osprey salad to start and the Miso Salmon as my entree. My husband ordered the Maryland Cream of Crab soup and the Hokkaido Scallops as his entree. Everything we ate was exquisite and we highly recommend every dish we each had. I'm very sad that the restaurant canceled my reservation. I had made plans for a special birthday dinner for a friend, and the online reservation was made weeks ago. Suddenly, i received an email that it was canceled today (after having confirmed it online several days ago). Apparently, they got mixed up with Open Table over blocking out dates. While the website states reservations are necessary for the patio, it does not state reservations are required for any seating. We found out by a paper sign taped to the door and by the condescending server guarding the entrance. We were turned away despite open seats at the bar and a handful of tables that may or may not have been reserved. It's possible the food may be good, but it's hard to imagine it could make up for the attitude of the staff. read more

I took some family members to Osprey Point for Thanksgiving dinner, approximately 10 years ago. I remember back then, service being very slow but food and atmosphere were terrific. I later was hired to play classy jazz trio music for a wedding here approximately five years ago--I clearly recall the couple and guests having a terrific time and really enjoying the place; it really is a terrific venue to have a private event or wedding. I have always appreciated the very traditional yet up-to-date decor and ambience here. This year, my wife and I have opted to have a quiet, low-key Thanksgiving weekend. On our last night here in the area, staying in the excellent Inn and marina at Haven Harbour, we made the great decision to order out from Osprey Point here in beautiful, bucolic Rock Hall, right on the shores of the Chesapeake Bay. The Osprey continues to have a beautiful restaurant, but we wanted to keep it quiet and private, so they accommodated us, and I picked up the food. It was completely ready for pickup in 15 minutes, I'm not sure how they fulfilled an order like this so quickly. Also notable is the packaging they used for the takeout food. The containers were environmentally friendly, mostly paper-based and biodegradable and used no plastic (except for small sauce containers), We ordered the ahi tuna tartare appetizer, served with a sort of salsa made from scratch (mixed in with the chopped raw tuna), and delicate crispy tortilla chips. The wedge salad with blue cheese dressing was a delight. And the entree: Not only was this one of the most delicious pork chops I've ever had, but the side dishes were wonderful. Fingerling potatoes cooked to perfection, string beans done just right, and the glaze/sauce on the pork chops was memorable. Pricing is not cheap/bargain but perfectly appropriate for this type of fare--fantastic high-quality food created by a fine chef and great cooks. We look forward to dining at the Osprey again very soon--we'll be skipping the take-out next time (though it was nice to have the option to dine in) and once again enjoying the ambience in this terrific restaurant. Dogs welcome in the back, screened in porch! They had a great awareness of my gluten and diary allergies and we very willing to work around them. I had scallops with corn, chorizo, and red peppers. It was good. I wish there was a bit more chorizo in the dish instead of small chunks. My husband had the mahi and said it was very good. We both had dessert which is very unusual for us. I had the flourless chocolate cake with pistachio brittle. I would have liked a bigger, single piece of the brittle instead of the crumbles. Otherwise it was very good! The service was also very good. They had a small but good collection of wine to offer. We had a bottle of the French Rose. It was nice with our choice of dinners and desserts. read more

This was the first inside dining we've done since the COVID-19 restrictions were lifted. Colonial intimate atmosphere for a calm dinner as a couple. Strawberry salad was a fun starter. Crab pasta had lots of meat and not a heavy sauce. The server was attentive. I was told before we ate here ...that this "is one of the finest restaurants on the easternshore. " Now i thought that is a pretty high bar they have set for this restaurant! Well now having eaten here i must say if this is not the best then this at least the best i have ever eaten at. Had an incredible dinner, as always, at Osprey on Valentine's weekend. We were a group of 10 and the restaurant was at capacity but our server and the food were both incredible. Not for a second did we feel rushed or neglected and our food was hot and perfectly prepared. Osprey has the best crab cake in Rock Hall and that is saying something if you have tried all the delicious crab cakes Rock Hall has to offer. Definitely worth the drive (about an hour and a half). We went with friends and we all had the crab cake dinner with asparagus and rice. Everything was cooked to perfection and the portions were just right. I ordered the coconut cream pie which was a bit rich .. not exactly what I was expecting but delicious. My wife and I went here for dinner last night. It was incredible. We started with the shrimp and asparagus soup. This had me nervous as I am not typically a big seafood soup kinda guy. But this was very good. You could definitely tell that it was a seafood soup but it was not overpowering at all. Next we had the spinach artichoke Florentine stuffed portobello. Delicious. My wife had the peppercorn crusted jumbo scallops with tortellini as her entree. I tasted both portions. The tortellini was delicious and the scallops were perfectly pan seared and phenomenal. I chose the Wagyu filet prepared medium rare with potatoes Dauphinoise, grilled asparagus and sweet onions. It was cooked to perfection and was outstanding. My wife finished with the bread pudding and I had the brownie with vanilla ice cream. Also very good. Overall, this was an outstanding meal. It's a bit price but worth every cent. My husband took me there for Valentine's week end this year. We stayed for 3 nights. He booked us a gorgeous room, "the Escapade" that has breathtaking views of the Chesapeake Bay. The service: let me emphasize with vigor how far above and beyond the folks at the Osprey Point Inn go to make their guests happy. They have been bending over backwards to make our stay the best it could possibly be since the night of our arrival, always going the extra mile, always managing to surprise us with a thoughtful gesture. On a scale from one to ten, I give the service a 20. The restaurant: I'll say it flat out, the Inn's restaurant is the best restaurant of the area. I am a total foodie, I am from a long line of older foodies, and everyone in my family cooks, which makes me a pretty tough food critic. We have been dutifully sampling the local fare at other restaurants in the area, none of them even come close. Their Executive Chef, Matt Whitehair, is managing to be inventive and stay fresh in his approach to classics, while still staying true to what made them classics in the first place. The dishes are therefore never boring, while still maintaining their "comfort" factor. The main ingredient always shines, showcased by its accoutrements, but never lost in them. His tea smoked seared scallops are divine, and I seriously advise you to try them if you are in luck and they are on the menu. We are having dinner there again tonight, and I'm already looking forward to trying his lamb (served with a pear puree, glazed carrots and fingerling potatoes, and complemented with a gastrique reduction , if you please...). I also want to point out that I have a medical condition that forbids me to eat any type of nuts or seeds, and that the Chef himself took the time to accommodate the Valentine's menu to make my dining experience as good as it could be. In a nutshell, if you are in the area and want to have a seriously fantastic dinner, go to the Osprey Point. If you are not from the area and are looking for a comfortable romantic getaway where you can enjoy your wine and have a fine dining experience without having to worry about driving back to your hotel, go to the Osprey Point. I wanted to find a b & b near my fiance's grandmother's who lives in rock hall. Mission accomplished. Treated him to a night here and dinner at the restaurant (see separate review for food critique). The inn was built in 1993 though the original farmhouse is available and is much older. Turns out my fiance's family once owned the property. Terry the innkeeper was so warm and welcoming. She called ahead of time to make sure we were still staying over since the weather was icy and dangerous to drive in. We arrived late afternoon on Sunday March 1 and departed the next day. We stayed in the room called 'escapade' which boasts a jacuzzi tub, king sized posted bed, sitting room, and two separate entrances (one closer to the steps near the restaurant and the other closer to the office). The room was clean and overlooks the water/marina. The amenities of a hotel room were all there including plush robes and a mini fridge. There is a small tv in a wooden armoire as well. Everyone was so pleasant and we had a delicious meal at the restaurant. The next morning we enjoyed Terry's quiche Lorraine and other homemade treats for breakfast. For the healthier crowd there are hard boiled eggs, granola, wheat breads and fruit. We will be back this summer and look forward to our stay and enjoying the pool, kayaking and other warm weather activities. They honored a discount we received in their newsletter for our first stay and returning guests get 10 % off their stay. read more

Unbelievable! Spent 2 evenings dining at the Osprey Point as part of a wedding celebration. Every item served from hors d'oeuvres, to soup, salad, entrees, desserts and drinks were outstanding! It is virtually impossible to serve a large group the same quality as a single table but the team at this establishment made a statement. We drove 9 hours to attend this family wedding but we would consider driving back again just for the food. If you have a chance, take advantage of an exceptional experience! read more

The worst service experience of my life. I've worked in fine dining at 2 restaurants(for reference) and me and my gf walked in on our 2 year anniversary and saw 7+ open tables and many open bar seats and were more or less told "you are not welcome." Me and my gf got jumped last weekend while walking to our cars and because we both had bruises they were not willing to serve. Talk about making a bad situation worse. I've never been so upset at a restaurant before. They didn't even offer us a seat at the bar, despite there being many open seats. I was going to spend 200-300 dollars here on a dinner for 2 and instead I feel terrible. Worst dining experience of my life. Just awful, will tell all our friends at our bay houses too. Best meal I've had In a long time. Beautiful scenic location on the water in kent county with ample parking and a cozy small dinng area with a fireplace. The biggest surprise at osprey is the food that unexpectedly comes out of the kitchen. Prepared by a 23 year old prodigy named Matt... Osprey is all about showcasing this young mans talent. We ate here in late feb as part of a weekend getaway. We started our meal with the king of all cream of crab soups, followed by the crab cakes entree and Striped bass, both of which were carefully prepared and presented to the table. I always appreciate it when a chef takes the time to focus on creating comprehensive dishes where ingredients meld together and serve a purpose. The decorative element added a nice touch too. For dessert we had the poached pear and ended our evening with an awesome chefs tasting. I would recommend osprey to anyone looking for a hearty modern american meal? The menu is very limited but the food is local and everything on the menu seems to be on a steady rotation. It's great to see ambitious young people creating dishes that rival any new york restaurant. I only hope this special little kitchen survives and grows. read more

Stayed at the FARMHOUSE, in the MALLARD room which is upstairs with a Queen bed, and has a shared bathroom with the other rooms. It is a large room with a desk and tv, and comfortable. The wifi worked well. The A/C works really well. The house is charming, old and creaky, but well furnished. It is a short walk to the office/restaurant where you can get basic breakfast items (cereal, bagel, coffee, tea) There's an outdoor pool area. I arrived at midnight which is during their off hours so I had to call the inn-keeper. I felt so bad to call so late but she answered and was so friendly and told me where to find the keys. The restaurant was quite good although I only tried the ribeye (substituted the fingerling potatoes for truffle mashed potatoes.) read more

After almost 10 years of boating in Rock Hall we finally went to Osprey Point for dinner, and we're just sorry we didn't do it sooner. The food was excellent, the service was excellent, and so was the bartender. The ambiance was beautiful. They have a bar food menu as well as more formal dining. Ok, a fantastic day and night ensued at the Inn at Osprey Point. It started early this morning when we arrived at the beautiful Inn by boat - we were early yet the dock hand was pleasant and courteous in guiding us into an open slip. Our room was not ready but we didn't expect it to be - after all, we got here at 9am and check in was 1pm. So, we grabbed two of the free bikes and headed to town (down the driveway and to the left one short mile). I was immediately struck by the amount of bicycle and pedestrian traffic wandering the street. Everyone appeared to be really enjoying their morning walk, there were many nods of hello - it was charming. Town is just a few blocks long - coffee was best at Java Cafe was definitely the best in town. After a nice ramble through some of the very quaint shops, we headed back to the Inn to stow luggage, etc. Hit the lovely pool where there is a poolside bar and grill (I think it's too expensive - $9 for a hamburger). So, we brought our own cocktails and lunch back to the pool and dined al fresco. A great time was had by both of us. After the pool, it was another great bike ride to town and a visit to the local American Legion (great crowd. We were welcomed by at least 8 locals who gave us great stories and guidance for getting around town). The Inn's Room? We are in Escapade and it is simply gorgeous - there is a nice side benefit to this room; walk down the steps and you end up in the bar! I was not feeling well so my very better half went downstairs and ordered the carpacchio appetizer, followed by a filet and the excellent scallops. There is no organized room service yet the dining staff brought our food right to our room. The dinner? Simply incredible! Others mention that it's pricey and perhaps it is a bit but you won't have a better meal outside New York (I've never been in any restaurant in DC that can touch this place). The portion size was much larger than I expected, flavors were unexpected and delightful, the chef knows what he's doing! Other patrons have mentioned the 'get it done' attitude of the staff. I second, third and fourth that opinion. They go way above and beyond the scope of duty at this Inn. You cannot possibly go wrong by staying at this bayfront Inn on the Chesapeake Bay. A view to rival Carmel, CA - staff who are dedicated to keeping you happy - world class dining right downstairs - free bikes for a nice ride wherever. We are frequent patrons of the Inn since we purchased our home in Rock Hall four years ago. We love the Inn, marina and grounds, however the quality, preparation and presentation of the food on our last two visits was disappointing. The new chef, a woman from Poland I believe, hasn't been able to come up to the level of cuisine that the Inn had presented in the past. This is a review of the restaurant - I stopped in for dinner but wasn't staying at the inn. I got there a few minutes early and enjoyed ambling around the piers in the little harbor. It's a working harbor, not posh exactly, but a nice setting with a maritime atmosphere. More than one party came into the restaurant directly off of their boat, and windburned and chino'd they were. The oysters on the half shell were good - not as good as kumamoto or Long Island Sound oysters, but fresh, and better than the oysters I ate a few days later in Chestertown. My duck entree and mesclun salad were also good. This is a good option in the area for higher-end menu choices. The decor and atmosphere are nice, not haute. It's expensive compared to other restaurants in the area generally, but it's not expensive compared to area restaurants that offer a similar menu. Compared to what I'm used to in big cities, I thought it was a very good value. read more

We had my daughters wedding at the Inn at Osprey Point. The wedding party and parents stayed at their facilities and it was fantastic. All aspects of this facility are great, but the staff are the best I have ever encountered. From greeting you on check in, to assisting the wedding planner during the ceremony, the staff was happy and helpful and always there for you. The accommodations were clean and very comfortable, the food is freshly prepared, and the amenities are top notch. Needless to say, we loved the weekend and we will be back for a relaxing weekend on the beautiful eastern shore. read more
