Superb dining experience! We LOVED our visit to Watershed. It was simple to make a reservation online. We arrived at the restaurant and were promptly seated in a cozy corner by a window on the second floor. It was a very intimate setting. The staff members are all so wonderful. They were patient with our questions about the menu and they kept the evening going in a seamless manner. They serve orange wine which is one of my faves! I was so happy to order it from the menu. The food was divine. I went with the seared tuna and the carrots as my side. Everything was INCREDIBLE. The chef also sent out a nice treat on the house. It was a delicious bite of curry goodness. The restaurant also has a private event space that my friends rented for the evening before their wedding. It was fantastic and amazing apps and desserts were provided and the experience of the entire evening was just amazing! My date got the roasted cauliflower and the duck. They were excellent as well!

Super accommodating, beautiful atmosphere, and the food was absolutely delicious! Came here while on a retreat with colleagues and this couldn't have been a more perfect place to have dinner on my last night with the crew. Our waitress, Mary, was very pleasant and the chef was able to adhere to my (many!) dietary restrictions. When I'm in a group setting, there's nothing I want more than to feel comfortable and this place went above and beyond. Thank you!!

    Tuna, the leeks were incredible!

This is my 2nd review of The Watershed because it just that good!!!!! This is my favorite place to come when I'm visiting in Chestertown, it never disappoints. Rodney and the entire staff always go over and beyond for us (especially my mom) whenever we are there. The food is amazing the atmosphere has a casual yet chic vibe, the bar stools are a fan favorite here and the tables by the windows are too!!!! Whether you are local or visiting this a place you definitely want to try!!!! (I also heard the Red Acres Salad is a must )

Every person at this place wanted to do everything they could to make our visit enjoyable. From the time we figured out what door opened and got us in, to clarifying the three bathroom choices-every employee wanted to make a difference. Came here with 20 of my friends and they accommodated us flawlessly in an upstairs room. The restaurant was ready, the food came out quickly and was incredible. From the salmon on a bed of cut veggies, to the shrimp and pasta, the food was well made. Crab bisque had the right amount of high quality lump crab and was poured with panache. Crème brûlée dessert was also done exceptionally well. It helps to be in a space with creative artwork (oyster shell chandelier) and classical waterfowl and sea paintings. Food had some spice. Soup had some heat. Loved the flavors.

Quality in all aspect of food and presentation which drives one to return and experience new menu options. To date my three visits and dining at Watershed Alley has been awesome. Service on all occasions was great and added to a "I wanna come back to Watershed Alley ".

Sublime chocolate mousse dessert and delicious decaf cappuccino

Exceeded expectations! Beautiful renovations, tastefully decorated with a relaxing atmosphere. Friendly engaging hostess at the door, wonderfully sweet and attentive wait staff. My husband had the trout and I had the amazing crab cakes. We were delighted! Complimentary cornbread. And for dessert, the best light chocolate mousse creation and Delicious decaf cappuccino. Oh, and beautiful bathrooms. I can't say enough about how we loved dining here and we cannot wait to return. Kudos to the chef!!

Dessert! The lemon something and the caramel something

I'm not sure the menu was all that imaginative, but the food was good and we enjoyed some oysters, onion dip, and I had the chicken sandwich. Our waiter was very attentive. The only thing I may add is to think about better flexibility on seating. It's a very large bar but the sit down area isn't greatly configurable. We'd put in for a group of 6 but it was not possible for them to seat us all at one table.

The Retriever Oyster House in Chestertown left us with a mixed impression, one that deserves a fair…read moreand constructive take. We had just come from a college football game and, on the fly, decided to grab dinner here based on the recommendation of the one local in our group. There were seven of us, and most went for the double smash burgers with fries, which were excellent. Kim, our server, was outstanding, prompt, accurate, and attentive throughout the evening. The bartender also added to the positive side of the experience, making sure everything at the table ran smoothly. The issue came at the door. We had tried to call ahead to let them know we were on the way, not realizing that OpenTable was their preferred system. When we arrived, the host made this clear, but in a way that was unnecessarily sharp and cold. It set the wrong tone for the night. In a town where friendliness is the norm, the contrast was striking. The experience began under a haze that was difficult to shake, even though the food and drinks were excellent once we sat down. To be constructive, this is less about policy and more about hospitality. A host sets the tone, and a welcoming explanation could have changed everything. Something as simple as, "We usually use OpenTable to handle groups this size, but I'm glad you're here, let's get you taken care of," would have gone a long way. Instead of frustration, it could have created a positive first impression and likely earned a loyal group of returning guests for years to come. Inside, the atmosphere was lively, with locals enjoying themselves in a loud and fun environment. Our group of longtime friends who have been convening in Chestertown for two decades fit right in once we were seated. However, the bad first impression lingered, and as a result we only had one round with food before deciding to leave a lot earlier than our normal rhythm for an evening out. We ended up taking our bar bill to another venue. Great food and excellent table service carried the night, but the host made sure we will not be returning as part of our annual tradition. This is a restaurant with strong potential, and it could go from good to exceptional with just a little more attention to how guests are greeted.

Particularly Shelby - our server for the evening. She is kind, funny, playful, knowledgeable, quirky, attentive, and conscientious. What this translates to is Shelby elevated our dining experience, and we are thankful to have crossed her path. I rarely compliment or review the front of the house. Mainly because most of them lack basic restaurant skills; food preparation knowledge; customer service; and are generally void of a personality. Restaurateurs - When your servers think a bouillabaisse is a cream soup, it's your fault - do better. So back to Shelby. Words of flattery cannot fully describe how outstanding our experience was as we were attended to through a multi-course meal. To this point, you will have to reserve a table at Legal Assets and experience for yourself. And if you are lucky, you may be sat within Shelby's section for a joyful time.

We're nowhere near finished exploring the menu; we find new favorites every time we're there! Today it was the cream of crab soup, the tuna sashimi with all the right trimmings, And a smashburger.
