I heard "I don't clean," from a couple of other local handy-men when I told them that a small part of the job was sweeping / mopping. Shawn didn't seem to have personal bugs about things like that. He just listened to the work that I needed done, and then said, sure, he could do it. I feel like not making the customer feel like a jerk for trying to hire them is a plus quality for a handy man in Lawrence right now. Fortunately, he doesn't waste time showing you what an ass he is. He lets you know soon. At least you get to find out before you let him into your house with a hammer. Davison is a poor communicator. Nothing is put in writing, nothing is open to discussion. He makes up rules. That gives him an excuse to behave like an ass. Then he blames you for making him behave like an ass. There are certain categories of people that Davison doesn't want as customers. If you are one of these, your opinion doesn't matter. And he thinks that if your opinion doesn't matter to him, it won't matter to anyone else, either. He has no regard for members of his own community and doesn't mind kicking you to the curb. Davison is probably looking for something, but it definitely isn't customers. Anyone as careless with their reputation as Davison is, will be careless about their work, too. A person with no integrity does not care about the integrity of his work. That is a foregone conclusion. Your opinion about his work doesn't matter beforehand, and it won't matter after the fact, either. If he does a crap job, he'll blame you for that, too.
