Waterworks Mall is a fairly nice-looking shopping center or strip mall that contains a few dozen businesses, including those for groceries, restaurants, movies, healthcare, clothing, home goods, books, pet supplies, banking, etcetera. This mall is not my go-to, but I do like to stop here occasionally. During my recent visit, I shopped at some of the stores. The stores had a decent selection of merchandise, and I found some items to purchase. The parking lot had a sufficient number of spaces for vehicles and seemed to be safe. read more

Is it a Mall? Not really. It's more of a big long plaza. One end has a Taco Bell and a Giant Eagle Market District store and the other end has a Mad Mex Mexican restaurant. There's a bunch of other restaurants as well, coffee shops, miscellaneous retailers and a Walmart (not a Supercenter). You could easily spend a few hours here and do some damage to your wallet. It's always been spread out enough where there always seems to be plenty of parking (holiday shopping may be different). It may even be on the bus line from the city. If you're looking for a traditional indoor mall, Pittsburgh Mills isn't far up Rt. 28, but like many malls, it's seen better days. read more

Absolutely disgusting. I had to take a shower when I got home. Torn seats, stains on seats, cup holders with trash and spills inside. Felt like I was in garbage dump. Bunch of high schools kids managing the place that are not qualified to do so. Embarrassing place to bring anybody. read more

Typical suburban strip mall with stores like Walmart, Five Below and more. I like it because there's a TJ Maxx and Marshalls within a few doors of one another. Market District and Burgatory along with movie theatre make it a one stop mall for my needs. Let's not forget Taco Bell. Convenient without a long commute via bus from the city. read more

Normally, I am no big fan of the "strip mall" concept, but this one is so practical and convenient, I have to give them a shout-out! Like many others in the area, I love the location and content this Mall offers lots of options. Some of our favorites are: Giant Eagle Panera Burgatory (woo hoo!) The Children's Place Dunham's PA Wine and Spirits (woo hoo!) Petco Bed Bath and Beyond Bath and Body Works Aladdin's Eatery Ichiban Caribou Coffee This place was a major factor in our decision to live nearby, and I am happy to say that it does not disappoint! Parking is ample, although Freeport Road could use an upgrade to handle the increased traffic - the light up by St. Margaret is somewhat tedious to get through, and can back up the traffic in both directions. read more

I know, I know. When you think of a "mall", you think of the typical indoor mall. This one is one of the "newer" types of malls, meaning we're going back to the outdoor mall concept. I wouldn't call it a strip mall as that has negative connotations and this is far bigger and superior to the strip mall concept. First of all, I didn't see the obligatory dollar store that all Pittsburgh strip malls seem to have. That, in itself led me to beleive this was going to be a better experience. Note that I"m rather new to the Pittsburgh area and where I live (Penn Hills) and work (Vandergrift) and anyplace in between, places to shop (other than auto part stores and dollar stores) seem to be something not to be taken for granted. Thus, I'm quite sensitive to a good shopping experience. This mall is a good shopping experience. I stopped here in the first place because my eyeglasses needed repair. So my first stop was Sears Optical. Cindy helped me out and while I was there I picked out glasses and made an appointment for an eye exam, as well. Then, it was on to T.J. Maxx, which I love. It has just what I want at good prices so I loaded up on clothes and, of course, a pair of shoes. Then, oh my, a Marshall's too??? Oh, yes. One more pair of shoes and a shirt for good measure. I ran out of time before discovering other stores but it is full of options that I'll enjoy for a well-rounded experience --- Barnes and Noble, Giant Eagle, Walmart, Dunham Sports, Petco, and Old Navy. This place is such a great place to spend a day, afternoon, or night. My family and I came here simply to just eat dinner at Burgatory, but when we were told we had a hour and 45 minute wait, we found ourselves starting to walk around the strip mall. They have every kind of store you could possibly ever need to go to here. Not to mention, it is an outdoor mall, so you are not just walking around inside. That might be more of a negative thing once the winter months come, but for the time it is now, it was nice to walk around in the cool Autumn weather. Like I said, this place has got everything. My family and I have now decided we are going to make a trip to come here just to shop rather than eat. However, I am almost positive our night will end with Burgatory no matter where we shop. read more

Here's a great strip-mall we like to stop at while we're down in the Pittsburgh area. This weekend we stopped at the Ross Dress for Less. We don't have Ross up here in Rochester, NY, so I was psyched to check it out. I LOVED the deals that I got there! Great brand-name shirts and dresses for really reasonable prices. The deals were better than Marshalls or TJ Max. It's a pretty busy place, so watch carefully when you're driving/walking around the plaza. read more

Like many people before me have said, this is not really a mall. It's a line of stores...connected by a sidewalk...mostly. When you think of this place, think of the strip of stores in the Waterfront, most likely why I get the two mixed up so often. It's great to a have such a mix up of stores in one place, but the parking/parking lots are horrendous. You zig and you zag, but don't expect to figure out who has the right of way. Would be nice if there were dividers at every entrance/exit to let you know when the parking ends and the "street" begins. Another thing I don't enjoy so much about this place is how spread out it is. For being a "mall" it sure is inconvenient to have to get in your car and ride down to the other end. And don't dare forget to get a store at the previous end or you'll end up like me and saying forget it and keep going until you leave. One of the best aspects of this place is the diverse eateries. You got your chains like McDonalds, Wendys and ENP, but you also got some great local flavor like Burgatory, Walnut Grove and La Capella. It is a great little place to stop when you need to run into a spot and grab an item, or if the weather is nice, but it's just like pulling into Miracle Mile in Monroeville. Not a mall, if you get what I mean. For all that I don't like, you will still see me around this area. Most times back behind the stores, at the cinema. Especially on Monday. read more

For a strip mall, it ain't a half-bad place to torch spare time if you're awaiting that magical text from Burgatory telling you that a table is finally ready after 45 minutes. Until about 5 years ago, I had imagined Waterworks to be an upscale indoor mall, one I only heard about from kids I went to high school with. It wasn't until a trip to Ichiban 5 years ago that I discovered that it's a mere shopping center with some extra bells and whistles such as Uncle Sam's, Barnes & Nobles, Five Guys, Staples, etc. So come on out. This place has everything. Burgatory, Giant Eagle, Alcohol, a bus line, I don't know. Everything. Whether you're seeking clothing, groceries, a hot meal, shoes, toys for your kids, toys for your pet, Mommy Juice, coffee, dental floss or a baseball bat you will find it here. Storefronts are always occupied and there is always parking. It's even got a movie theater! And a hospital right there if you are like me and forget how to walk sometimes. This is your typical suburban-type strip mall. read more

I'm a fan of Waterworks. It's more of a strip mall, as others reviewers posted. The Giant Eagle is now a Market District, which is nice. Some of my favorite spots are Marshalls, TJ Maxx, Ross Dress for Less, Five Below, Bed Bath & Beyond (although small), and Old Navy. There's a movie theater and Barnes & Noble. Quite a bit of eateries to choose from. Uncle Sam's Subs, Burgatory, Panera, Micky Ds, Wendy's, Qdoba, and more. Plenty of parking and depending on the time of day, Freeport Road can get pretty backed up. read more

For what it's worth, I like the Waterworks. If I intend to upgrade my wardrobe a little bit, i normally come here. The main reason for that is I LOVE Ross Dress for Less. Also in this outdoor mall, is a Marshall's & TJMaxx. If those discount stores are your thing as well, then you get 3 for the price of one- in a sense.. lol. It also helps that a Walmart is here so if while shopping I also need to pick up something, the walmart is nearby. There are different options for eating which is also nice. Uncle Sams, Burgatory, EnP, Aladdins(!!), Ichiban, Wendys, McD's as well as Chili's. I also think I'm forgetting a few.. so yes for an outdoor strip mall this one has tons of options for eating. While here, I also enjoy checking out the bookstore, Bed Bath & Beyond, Five Below(!!!!!) as well as Old Navy. Clearly I enjoy this "mall" It may not be for everyone, but I like it! Also If I remember correctly, their Wine & Spirits store is open till 10 on the weekdays.. that's later than I've ever seen for a liquor store ;) read more

This is not a mall. Instead, it's one of the longest strip-centers I have seen. It has a variety of stores, but all fall into the discount-retailer segment (e.g., Wal-Mart, Ross, Marshall's, etc.). Food choices are almost all chains. On the plus side, at least there is coffee: Giant Eagle has a Starbuck's inside, but Peet's coffee (opposite end from Giant Eagle) is very good. Parking is okay, there is enough, but you have to walk a long way (not a big deal unless you're shopping and carrying stuff to your car). read more

This outdoor mall has so much potential but it's going downhill. The smokers must be removed and fined. It's disgusting how no one enforces the law here. Street panhandlers harass people for food almost every day. The doors to the businesses are not clean. Yet there are some great stores and very good people who make this a potentially great strip mall. Please do something soon before it becomes a place people rather not shop at! read more

There is a great selection of stores here. Waterworks Mall has something for everyone : Barnes and Noble , Walmart , Justice a movie theater, Panera Bread, and party City, just to name a few. I take the kiddies to buy costumes for Halloween from the Waterworks Party City and the selection is huge. I really have no complaints for Waterworks. On my latest visit, I had to purchase birthday gifts for my younger sister who is 11. I stopped into 5 Below loaded up on candy, found a gift bag, tye dye shirts and some wall decals. Then headed over to Barns and Noble and found a origami book for her. Really a top notch shopping spot and since it's a strip mall you get a mix or open air space and shopping. I enjoy every visit to Waterworks Mall and look forward to visiting soon! read more

I really really really want to like this place. I live here and want to use it. But it is always a major pain in the butt. It is WAY to congested. Parking is horrible no matter the time of day. And no matter how good the stores I can stand going there. Perfect example is the Giant Eagle. Love it. But its such a pain I actually just use the smaller grocery store down the street read more

I like the waterworks mall it's easy to get to and has lots of parking. It has a movie theater and lots of places to eat plus some nice stores to shop at. I like the Giant Eagle it's open 24 hours and has great pizza plus I stop over Barnes and noble for some good book deals. read more

The Waterworks (Strip) Mall covers pretty much all of your basic shopping bases -- restaurants (Burgatory, Chili's, Walnut Grill, Eat N Park, Ichiban, LaCapella, Italian Village Pizza), coffee shops (Peet's, Panera), fast food/sandwich shops (Wendy's, Taco Bell, McD's, Five Guys, Subway, Uncle Sam's), groceries (Giant Eagle, which they're almost done converting to a Market District), pets (PetCo), discount goods (TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Ross, Five Below), liquor store, kids (The Children's Place), hair salons (Phillip Pelusi, Sports Clips), clothing (Old Navy, Avenue), big box shopping (Wal Mart, Bed, Bath & Beyond, Staples), and specialty stores (Party City, Dunham's, GameStop, GNC, Bath & Body Works)....plus a ton more that I'm probably forgetting. So while it's definitely not as inclusive as, say, McKnightmare Road, for a small little area in Fox Chapel/Aspinwall, they managed to pack in a lot of useful shopping. There is a sidewalk that connects the entire strip mall (except for a tiny part by Walmart where you actually have to walk through the Walmart vestibule). If you walk the whole thing, it's less than a mile. While I find this mall to be convenient, the traffic/parking situation can sometimes make me want to jam a hot poker into my eye....too few spaces (especially in the Buragatory/Panera/TJ Maxx part of the mall), way too many cars, and confusing entrances and exits that lead to a lot of "free for all" driving. Plus sometimes Freeport Road (westbound) can get really backed up due to the mall traffic and it can take ridiculously long to make it through the lights (especially the one by the GEagle exit and also Delafield Rd). As such, I tend to almost exclusively walk to this mall since I live in the area...my sanity just can't take the traffic headaches. So if you need to drive here, be sure to bring your patience during the busy times! Another thing I like about the Waterworks is that they've recently made the property smoke free. Granted, not everyone follows this rule and I don't know how much they enforce it, but I applaud them for taking a step in the right direction. read more

You know, I really like some of the stores in this mall, but their security practices are racist and need to be addressed, and the public should demand better from them. A friend of mine was driving home with his niece and family after a birthday party and decided to make a pit stop at the Market Distict, after pulling in, he realized he was being followed by Mall Security with their lights on. When he pulled into a spot near the Market District, the Security Officer, making a point to show off his GUN, asked if they had just been at Walmart. Of course my friend said no and that was it. No apology for the blatant profiling, intimidation nor waste of time/rudeness. Do better, Waterworks Mall Security, do better. read more

Not really a mall per say, okay, it's a strip mall or a shopping center. A very busy shopping center. With Burgatory's popularity this mall has gotten even busier. It contains all the regular mall regulars, Barnes & Noble, 5 Below, TJ Maxx, and some non mall regulars like Giant Eagle. It's an everything you need type establishment for the town of Blawnox. Signs say it is a tobacco-free mall, but it was very smoky. Lots of people were smoking as they sat next to the "no smoking" signs. No enforcement of no smoking policy. If you have asthma or are pregnant or just don't wish to walk through clouds of disgusting tobacco smoke as you go between stores, then you may wish to shop elsewhere. read more
