She was so young I just thought maybe growing pains? Maybe we needed to buy better shoes? Nowhere in my mind did I think something was really wrong. In the 4th grade we knew we needed to see someone and went to a Pediatrician in Bakersfield. Right away she saw there were multiple joints swollen and that we definitely had to get her to a specialist at Children Hospital Madera. Within a very short time they got us in and we were making the trip up to see Dr. Arce. From the moment we met him we felt at ease. He instantly started talking directly to our daughter, he was gentle, compassionate and really listened to everything she said. He saw pitting in her nails and multiple joints with redness and swelling. He ordered multiple test right away, and quickly she was diagnosed with Psoriatic arthritis and fibromyalgia. I would have never thought my 4th grade daughter would Have RA. This began our 8 year relationship with Dr. Arce. We made trips to Madera every couple months and we never complained. We all loved him and he helped her so much. I will never forget when he had the talk with us about finding a Rheumatologist in Bakersfield. She was going to be 18 and he is a Pediatrician. We all were so sad and I actually cried the last time we saw him. He helped my daughter so much. I know he is working out of a clinic in Reedly now, I think he still might see kids at Childrens. Just recently my daughter said she wanted to write him a letter, she is now 21. She wants to thank him for all he did for her. Unfortunately she never found a Doctor that measured up to Dr. Arce. We did see supposedly see the best in Bakersfield, he is in the room for a minute, you can't get an appointment and he doesn't listen to what you are saying. So Dr. Arce if you read this, you are amazing! We thank you for the incredible care you gave our daughter and we will never forget you.

My daughter has been seeing a dr at Stanford for lupus since she was 12 y/o. When she turned 21…read morethey said she had to be re authorized as an adult. She is on medication that are prescribed by Stanford. 1. First she needed to see a new adult PPO 2. Have them refer her to local rheumatologist, if local felt she needed to be referred then refer her to Stanford where she has been a patents for over 12 years. 3. She did all of the above. Finally after 7 months got the authorization from Key medical on 12/28/23. She called again to Stnaafor to set another appointment as she had to cancel the prior appt due to jumping hoops. The soonest appt was June 7. 2024 to see her rheumatologist. We have been waiting for this appt for over 5 months. Now they sent a letter saying she cannot go there and referred her to USC or UCSF if her local rheumatologist stills sees fit. She has not been able to see her Female Rheumatologist at Stanford for over 15 months! We will be filing appeals as well as complaints to all agencies that will listen.

It took me over 12 hours to get a Shingles vaccination. I had to find someone who had the vaccination and was willing to inject it. I was advised after working with my PCP by Key Health to find a provider who was willing to do this. I called EVERY doctor who was a primary care doctor in our area and no one was willing to do this for Key health. I offered to purchase the vaccination and take it to them, but Key health refused. After all of the time spent finding someone, I told them I would be filing a formal complaint, which I did. Only then, they decided I could go to the pharmacy and purchase it and take it to my doctor, who is a provider and have it injected. It took over a month to get reimbursed, which for me was okay, but it should have been done for 0.

The first available appointment for Dr.Wiseman is 01/2025 and for Rita Barron wasn't until 04/2025. How do they not have availability for routine women's health appointments? I really enjoy having these providers as my women's health providers, but the schedule half/whole year out appointments are ridiculous. Is this an issue with scheduling or is this an issue with providers ONLY being booked for OB appts? When I had questions regarding why it was so far out in advance to schedule an appt, the staff member rudely stated I should've made my appointment for sooner. I stated, if I would've known the appointments were like this, then obviously I would've scheduled it MUCH sooner. I asked, why would I wait so long to schedule an appt if I was instructed to make it two years later?

Very caring and knowledgeable. I would definitely have her as a midwife again. Every time I told him that I'm feeling fatigue and in pain he would just rattle off that that's not a symptom of RA. He schedules me every 3-5 months and hands me a lab slip and tells me to get my labs drawn a week before my appointment. I tell him that I'm having flares in between and he just tells me that my labs are fine and it's in my head. I started having blurry vision and my eye doctor told me that I'm having toxicity due to the medications. He contacted Dr. Gil and I have his office staff call me and tell me doctor said stop all medications. Mind you I didn't have an appointment for 3 more months. I can't believe how awful he is. You are better off going somewhere else. I have lost my hair, vision and his answer for every thing is that has nothing to do with RA. I finally made an appointment with my primary doctor and he asked me to call his office every time I'm experiencing a flare so he can order labs. And low and behold I'm having inflammation that shows up on my lab results. I've been referred to Stanford and I'm so glad I don't have to deal with that horrible doctor anymore!
