SENTRY - WATCHING RESTAURANTS…read more George and Dragon Pub 4240 N. Central Avenue Phoenix, 85012 Companion and I were hungry and I had a craving for English style fish and chips. Where else to go but to a pub! We arrived at 6:40 in the evening and seated ourselves as is the custom. While many of the tables are hightops, we chose a regular table off to the side. First was an appetizer of Curried Chips along with NA Guinness to wash it down. The chips were like mashed potatoes in the center and crispy on the outside. Along with the authentic curry to dip them in, it was deliciousness on a plate. On to the main dishes. Companion ordered Bangers and Mash. Excellent tasting sausages served over mashed potatoes in traditional style. Companion loved it but was unable to finish it. For myself, I had my Fish and Chips that I was craving. 2 large pieces of cod perfectly fried in a beer batter coating. Served over a pile of perfect chips and accompanied by malt vinegar I was back in the U.K. Only problem was that it was served with a side of English peas instead of mushy peas like one would get overseas, but one can't be too choosy. Of course, we had to have dessert. There is always room for dessert! Companion ordered Toffee Pudding with Hot Custard sauce and I ordered the Bread Pudding. The toffee was chewy and sticky as it should be and the hot custard sauce added just the right touch. My bread pudding was in dense slices as is proper in the U.K.. I stole some of companions Hot Custard to put on it and it was wonderful. This was an excellent dinner which brought back memories of pubs in the U.K. The only thing missing off the menu was a Ploughman's Lunch, but not enough people would order it I think. Service and cleanliness were up to par. It's worth noting that on Sundays they have Roast Beef and Yorkshire Pudding. I can't wait! 5 stars

Pretzel was good the mustard was very good that came with it and the. Geese was just like what you can buy in a can. Was not great. My husband ordered the bangers and mash. Again sorry did not get a photo. Mashed potatoes are a favorite of mine to eat. These were not bad but nothing to write home about. Sausage he said was good. I ordered the English beef dip. Again nothing to write home about. If you are looking for a good drink at a reasonable price. This is the place. We had five gin and tonics for $29 bucks. Not bad at all. Britney was again a great pleasure and a strong asset to the pub.

As the game ended, it was announced over the intercom that customers were free to take the flags hanging from the ceiling. Naturally, people began grabbing them. A man with a gray beard, who claimed to be one of the owners of the bar, started yelling, "Stop acting like animals!" at the customers. There is a respectful and professional way to address people without insulting them, especially when everyone was simply responding to what had just been announced. Otherwise, no one would have started taking the flags in the first place. He then walked over to my fiancé and forcefully ripped a flag out of my fiancé's hands, nearly knocking her to the ground. He also grabbed another customer from behind in a highly inappropriate manner and pulled him down, putting him at risk of falling. It was a very disappointing experience, especially since I visited this pub 5-6 times throughout the World Cup and had always enjoyed coming here until this happened.

There was a game & the area for parking & the restaurant was packed. We were greeted by pleasant hostess. We were told 15 minutes wait. I'm not sure how long it was, but it wasn't long. While we were waiting someone came & asked all of us waiting if we wanted a drink. Hubby & I ordered drinks. He brought them right as we were being seated. Hubby got his favorite beer & on draft which is his favorite. It was so good & really cold. I got Tito's & cranberry. It was good as well. Our server came to the table promptly. Hubby ordered the power bowl. I ordered the smash burger. Hubby loved his power bowl. It was huge & full of food. I thought I took a picture, but it didn't come through to my phone. My smash burger was so good. I don't know what they do, but it was moist & flavorful! It is loud, but it outstanding service & excellent food. Even if my phone took 2 fuzzy pictures & didn't get 1. I only wish they were closer!

I remember touring the administrative offices, the dining hall, the classrooms, the residence halls, and other random buildings, but the most memorable stop was The Pub, which was rooted in much Thunderbird tradition. Now, years later with a new building in place at ASU, I was delighted to learn that The Pub still exists but in a new space (on the fifth floor). I recently stopped by to see what it looked like and try one of their dishes. In the spirit of Thunderbird, at The Pub, it is said that "global flavors and local charm come together to create an unforgettable dining experience." This is a great place for a meal with co-workers, hosting a gathering for a special celebration, or having a low-key meal. I took a book and gave it a try on my own. The sides include chicken wings, chicken tenders, hummus snack plate, or various ways to prepare fries. They have soup, salad, flatbread, entree bowls, and many burgers and sandwiches. They also have all sorts of drink options (alcoholic and non-alcoholic). It was national root beer float day (or something of the sort), so every burger came with a free root beer float. I jumped at that and got the Thunderbird Pub Burger (seasoned 6oz all beef patty, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, American Cheese, signature pub sauce Brioche Bun, served with Crispy French Fries). It was delicious!! In fact, it was better than delicious when paired with a free root beer float! They have regular hours of noon to 5 PM on weekdays (though they are open until 9 PM on Thursdays. They do have seasonal hours when they close early or entirely when classes are not in session. Happy hour specials are from 3-5 PM daily. While there are many great places to eat at ASU, I certainly recommend The Pub at Thunderbird.

The Theodore is great for grabbing cocktails before a show at The Nash or coming for awesome Thai/ Laotian food offered by Phonomenal Street Eats food truck. Parking is always nutty but was able to snag metered parking around the corner. The lot closest is about $50. Bartenders are so knowledgeable, cool and pretty chill. Don't be a prick. Loved the suggestions and got to sample before I decided on the Mexican lager with pineapple while my brother had pretty much every hazy IPA on the board. Forgot to get the brewing company for my lager but definitely my top favorite. I didn't get to try the Candy Bar Milk Stout but try it and give me your feedback. I did try the candy cane stout and wasn't for me. It was syrupy and a bit too sweet for a stout but hey stay festive folks! Drink beer here at The Theodore and good things happen!

It was probably my first time being introduced to Irish pubs and the traditional dishes and drinks that they serve. Today, I was walking around near the ASU Downtown Campus and came across Seamus McCaffrey's. I gave it a try for lunch and enjoyed some tasty food and great service. While I didn't grab a drink, I'd certainly consider meeting friends after work there another time. I walked into the bar, and I was literally behind the bar where is was quite dark. Many of the bar seats were taken though I stepped into an area behind the bar where there were a number of open tables where I could seat myself. There was yet another room further back with booths and some creative decor, though I was happy with a table near the bar. The server came right over and made some great suggestions and introduced herself to me. She checked on me multiple times during the meal and made sure I liked what I picked. I ordered an item off the Traditional Favorites menu, the Chicken Pot Pie, which consisted of tender shredded chicken, peas and carrots smothered with herbs in a creamy white gravy under a flaky puff pastry. It also came up with a cheese stick. Both were tasty yet not too filling as I expected. There was a light breaded top to a bowl and then no bread on the bottoms or sides, but that was alright as I didn't need an over-the-top dish for lunch. While the prices are a bit higher than I would have expected them to be, it was certainly worth it, and I'll be back again. Seamus McCaffrey's opened in 1991 and brought a real Irish pub to Central Phoenix. It is a family-run bar that serves Irish classics and pub favorites. From Boxty, shepherd's pie, and fish and chips along with stacked sandwiches, burgers, and starters, the menu is not huge but still feels like it has a bit of everything. They have live music on the weekend and host special events throughout the year. The biggest celebration is its annual St. Patrick's Day street party on Monroe, a Downtown Phoenix tradition filled with great beer, great food, and a whole lot of green. Check out its website (https://seamusmccaffreys.com) to see its menu, upcoming events, photo gallery, and specials. The specials include daily specials, happy hour specials, and a $13 lunch menu. I look forward to returning again this summer!
