I went with my husband and our 9-year-old son, and it turned out to be one of our favorite summer memories. Everything was clean, well-staffed, and family-friendly. The highlight for me? I went on the water slide, first time ever being on one. I was absolutely terrified and ended up screaming the whole way down -- loud enough that people were laughing and saying they could hear me from where they were It was hilarious and totally worth it. I am actually surprised that this was the 1st time I had gone to Wave country since it's actually a pretty decent pool/waterpark if you've got young kids. 2022 prices were $12 (plus tax) for adults and $10 for kids. There's also a season pass that is $40 for kids / seniors and $50 for adults for the whole season which is from Memorial to Labor day. The waterpark is part of Metro Parks and therefore very affordable for the average family. It's not so fancy, but I prefer not being nickle and dimed like the $ hungry Nashville Shores which my family and I will never patronize on principle. Upon entering the park, I was actually surprised at how empty it was. There were only 5 huge umbrella shades scattered around the park. Each umbrella had 3 large wooden tables with attached benches on each side. My party took a table close to the concession stand. The prices were actually very affordable. The main attraction is the Wave pool, hence the name but there are a total of 5 slides too. The 1 kiddie slide and the 2 identical slides that swirl around in the opposite direction all end up in a shallow area of 3 ft. Then across the foliage, there are 2 slides that you'll have to climb up to reach. On the left slide, the waterpark attendant told us to lie down as I went down which I did. Not sure if that was good advice. All of us in my party hurt our backs from the way our bodies slid down and slammed on the curvatures on the slide. There was a group of 5 that also complained of the same so they advised me to only ride the slide on the right; "The death drop" 1 of them in my group chickened out but the rest of us did go on the other which is a very steep 2 second drop. That was super smooth and exhilarating and there was no back pain at all! As we were leaving the landing area, I felt a sharp stinging pain in my arm. As I look down, I hear the girls start to scream and we frantically try to get a Horsefly off me which then attacks them, then me again. We ran with arms flailing. And then a wasp joins in! So we run to the wave pool and jump in to get away from these vicious creatures. I was the main person attacked and in a lot of pain. My back and my right arm started to swell up from the multiple stings/bites. Thank goodness Wave country has a medic on staff who was called to assist. Evidently this was a normal phenomenon as the staff seemed to not really care since there are many of these Horseflies, wasps, yellow jackets and various types of bees they said. The only thing he had to offer was Ibuprofen and Benadryl. The concession stand gave me ice for the swelling and water to take my pills. I rested up a little as the girls ate and enjoyed their slushy from the concession stand. Found out from other season pass patrons, that the area where the biggest slide was is where most people get attacked by these bugs. That the Horsefly actually has teeth and bites while the other winged creatures sting. And that they can sting multiple times as they don't lose their stingers. I don't understand why the staff don't fumigate the park in those areas if this happens all the time. This is a nice simple waterpark and I'd love to return next season but definitely not after personally getting attacked and being told that "it is just the way it is" and the staff aren't going to do anything about it to remediate the situation. And this is why I gave 3 stars instead of 5 stars. If anyone at Metro Parks is reading this review, PLEASE FUMIGATE for our safety and so I can return. I will be happy to get a season pass if I'm not the main course. read more

Great place to cool down never really crowded like the foods and the lifeguards really do their job.

My family and some friends from out of state decided to enjoy a day at Wave country. Everything was fine until a family decided to come in and not abide by stated rules. 1- the grown man 40ish was running around in very obvious boxer briefs with...well, nothing left to the imagination. 2- his male children, The same...and decided to urinate, in the grass....where kids and Adults were walking. 3- their pre-teen daughter was wearing a soaked tank top that completely exposed her. After numerous life guards doing absolutely nothing I went to the adults, and manager. They assured me they would take care of it seeing as how I now, and my children weren't the only ones disturbed by it... I saw them speak to the man And then they came by and said "thanks" We stayed close to another hour Nothing Changed He never changed at all...nor did the children. So beware of grown men with certain things out, preteens showing everything, and stepping in urine because bathrooms are not required for use when needing to "go" I won't even talk about the rumors of someone deficating in the pool....and they let everyone continue to swim. read more

Although it's called Wave Country, the exit off Briley Parkway says Wave Pool. Just saying. That aside, I love coming here. Compared to some water parks that are semi close in Bowling Green and Eddyville, Kentucky, Wave Country offers a great deal for what they have. It costs ten dollars to get in, and the last time I was there float rental was free. It's your typical pool place in that it opens Memorial Day and closes Labor Day, but not so typical because they let you bring in your own coolers. The park is on the small side. There's a kiddy pool, some small bamboo colored slides, two huge slides you can't help but notice from the parkway, and it's namesake sits smack in the middle. If I'm not trying to tan I'm in that wave pool; I think I could sit in there for hours, hoards of people not in the pool permitting. read more

For those that have season passes to Nashville Shores, Wave Country is not thrilling in comparison... We only went because a group of friends asked us to , and we had a BOGO coupon... The life guards don't seem as attentive nor capable of handling emergency type situations... For instance, a man fell and busted his head while we were there, and it was approximately an 45 min later before an ambulance and first responders arrived... I would have been frantic had this been my loved one bc they didn't seem to know what to do in this situation... It was very traumatic for all who witnessed, especially our children.... Also, two of our kids felt unsafe at two different times in the waves and directed the matter toward lifeguards, which apparently ignored them... So, one chose to sit out the rest of the day and said he was never coming back... It also draws a crowd of people, unlike Nashville Shores... We saw one lady who appeared to have been "shooting up" because she had marks and open wounds all over her arm, so we didn't really feel safe being exposed to the same swimming water as her... Security and rules are very lenient here ... The staff was friendly... But, it was concerning because they tend to congregate quite a bit verses being aware of their surroundings. On a good note: Unlike Nashville Shores, where it's way too expensive, we did purchase a lot of food there... It's a very limited menu... But, the prices are cheap, and the food is decent... Our friends also enjoyed all their snacks/lunches they were able to bring in s cooler, unlike you're allowed to do at Nashville Shores. read more

We came on a Tuesday and it was great. Crowded but not crazy, there were plenty of kids to keep it fun. Being able to bring in food and drinks is a real bonus, but the concession stand has some pretty good cheese fries . I would come back if I lived close, the price was good and the place was clean. My friend and I were visiting from out of town and decided this was the perfect place to spend a hot summer day. For the price you pay, you really can't beat it. Very family friendly with tons of activities. Huge bonus that parking and tubes for the wave pool are completely free! There were employees walking around sanitizing the step ladders and such. The bathrooms were completely insanitary but you get what you pay for. A huge bonus was the male life guards were HOT. So not only are you paying for fun in the sun, but you get eye candy on top of it. 10/10 would recommend. read more

This place may have the highest level of fun per square foot anywhere in Nashville. It is somewhat small, and there are just a few things to do: a pair of speed slide, some smaller slides, the wave pool itself, a small-kids area with cascading water, and a volleyball pit. But what they have is unbelievable! I went on a Sunday, and the place wasn't empty, but it also didn't feel crowded. The waits on slide were remarkably short, usually none on the speed slides. The wave pool was crowded with children at the shallow end, but at the deep end it was pretty wide open, unusually quiet, and super-pleasant. I am pretty certain that this is the most fun my seven year old had in Nashville. everything we did was a thrill for him, and he was just tall enough to participate in everything. Add the fact that you're paying $12 for adults and $10 for kids and you have one of the absolute best deals in Nashville. The place is shockingly clean also. Even the wave pool didn't feel grody. My son and I came from Cookeville to swim at Wave Country. I was afraid I might regret the drive, but no way - it was tons of fun. The admission is more than most community pools, but the cooler features are well worth it. My son is four and really enjoyed the kids pool with "showers" (his word). I liked the fact that the bottom of the wave pool is made out of some slightly squishy stuff that prevented Harry from getting road rash when a particularly rowdy wave dragged him along the bottom on his face. It was no big deal to him - he hopped right back on his float. I would advise sunscreen and lots of it! Not a lot of shade here. Being able to bring coolers in is such a huge plus. read more

Last summer they needed to re line the wave pool as it was coming apart. They could use a few more entertaining slides but all in all, for the price, it's not a bad place to go. I would recommend getting there early for a spot to sit. read more

5 STARS!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you have smaller kids like I do I think this is the better choice to go to over Nashville Shores for many reasons. Pricewise the price is on the mark! We found coupons online. For my family of 7 to go with the coupon and tax was only $60. Concessions is also on the low cost side. Our entire family got snacks *ICEEs and ice cream" and only spent $12. Size wise it was smaller but was helpful for me to keep track of all of my kids. The wave pool was a lot of fun and we all enjoyed it. The waves come in intervals. Hey again yelpers! I've not been to the Wave Country in a long time but I think that every review counts as everyone has their own unique points of view. I'd been going to Wave Country since I was about 10 up until I was about 15 and it was always very exciting getting to go for a lengthy swim. Their pizza was really good even though their selections were varied. Entrance fees and other costs were very affordable and I'm sure that was a plus with my dad who used to be the one to take me and my brothers. Definitely would recommend it. Happy yelping! read more

Awesome! For 12 bucks and nothing really to do in the heat- go to Wave Country!! Me and my friends (8 in total) came here when we stayed in Nashville. We passed it while heading downtown one day and decided to check it out. Let it be known- we are all in our late 20s and early 30s. There are 3 slides. One very vertical high one. One vertical one with three bumps in it that slow you down. And one twisty turning tube slide. And there is a gigantic wave pool that creates waves every 15 minutes or so. They have hundreds of inner tubes to lay on. The wave pool was really large. Normally i don't like being in a public pool with so many people, but seriously this wave pool was enormous. For a public park, this is an excellent pool. It's easy to spend all day here because they have the wave pool which runs every 15 minutes, 5 slides, picnic areas, a skate park, walking trails, a playground, and concessions but allow you to bring your own food in if you don't want to pay for food. It can be a bit pricey, $12 for adults & $10 for kids 2-12yrs. old. They have coupons online though and give 1/2 off between 3pm & 5pm for kids under 12. The 0 depth wave pool is great for little ones in addition to their kiddie pool. They allow adults to go down the small water slide or catch their child at the bottom of the pool rather than the lifeguard. They are also lenient with other floaties you bring in even though they have a large selection of inner tubes to be used in the wave pool. I'd certainly consider a season pass if you live nearby. read more

What a wonderful afternoon of fun! Both of us grammy's took our grandaughter to Wave Country and we were so thrilled with the experience! Cousins met us there for an afternoon filled with fun, sun and lots of cool, clean, clear water! We had heard mixed reviews from friends that the "clientele" tended to be rough and the atmosphere could be dangerous. NOT AT ALL!! There were many families and many youth groups and we had no issues at all - other than a bit of bad language here and there but you hear that at the mall... THE GOOD: The price, the price, the price!! At $10 (and there was a 2-fer coupon in a local advertising magazine) it was such a great value for the $$. The other water park in town is 3x that amount - yes, it has a few more attractions but also has 3x the crowd. The wave pool is refreshing and CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN and the waves just right - not too violent for the littler ones. The slides are within eye-shot of the wave pool so it's easy to let the older ones go off on their own because you can see them from the wave pool. There are virtually NO LINES!!! The kids loved, loved, loved being able to go down the slides, get off and get right back on. FREE TUBES!!!!! You can bring coolers in with snacks and drinks which is AWESOME!! Although there is a snack bar with drinks & hot dogs & pizza, etc. There's a very nice kiddie area for the ittybitty's! We didn't have any munchkins with us this time but there were lots of "showers" and the little ones seemed to be having a blast. It is also right next to the wave pool so everything is so centrally located - very easy to navigate. THE LESS THAN GOOD: No shade and no chairs - but bring your own! There, solved! Wave country has a very high potential , I believe this is due to the location as well as less people than Nashville shores, a competing water park. The main attraction towards the wave country is the huge pool, which at every half an hour or so they allow the 'Waves ' to start. These waves are incredibly big , I would guess around 10 feet. I love to visit here every now and then, but I don't believe the prices are all that sturdy for what you get. read more

i loved visiting Wave Country as a child, i loved it so much that it was my first job. the place is great. management is great. the pay is great. this was the best first job. i can promise that the WHOLE facility is cleaned every morning before open. as a former lifeguard i can promise that the life guards go through countless training to ensure safety. you may see the lifeguards gathered together laughing on break that is because everyone is treated like family. such a great environment for the price. read more

This is my favorite water park! The waves were high but not to rough, and the wave pool was not too crowded. If you are worried for your child's safety, don't be! The lifeguards were very aware, and even with the slightest bit of struggle of a child, they jump in and bring the child to safety. Make sure you bring your own chairs, since they do not provide them. The prices are amazing. Children 12 and under are $10, adults are $12, and floats are free! They have a baby slide, two medium sized slides, and two huge and tall slides. They also have a children's swim area with shower type water pumps, and little buckets pouring out water. The waves in the wave pool start every 15 minutes or so. My only complaint is that at one point the waves didn't start up for about 30 to 45 minutes. They did have to rescue a few children in that period of time, so they were probably just making sure those children were safe.
