I am infuriated that management does not seem to care about folks that cannot bathe in the sun @ the Franklin location! I understand there was a lawsuit, and the lifeguards have to take up the whole shady area for emergency purposes. But, you could at least accommodate and provide for us otherwise. It's absolutely ridiculous that I see people who are paying good money for membership having to bring their own chair umbrellas, and I'm having to stuff my lounge chair in between two freaking picnic tables that are occupied. Word of advice, I suggest you remedy this situation as quickly as possible and definitely before it opens next year. I would think anybody in their right mind would've already had this well planned out before the pool opened, but it gets worse every time I come. On the other hand, you may have a lot more lawsuits for people getting sun cancer because you can't provide umbrellas for those of us that require it, to take shade. I have never been so disappointed in something in Franklin, Tennessee. You should demonstrate more class and consideration than this mess! And, I've been a resident of Franklin my entire life. I have been a member of this facility for many years, but you have completely failed this year in regards to the pool area. I'm so disappointed in this location! To add, there are many many more people that feel the same way I do. I've been talking to a lot of people. I have a feeling you're gonna lose a lot of memberships from this point forward, unless you change things. If you want to complain to the Director, his name is Gordon Hampton x 2015. One more thing you need to know, "adult swim" is interrupted by all the lifeguards taking break in the deep end to do splashing contests. So, I had to void my plans of quietly floating on my back. The young adults (lifeguards) overtook the entire area, and the older adults had no room to enjoy it. Again, bad management! Horseplay should be done before and after hours, not during public operation. It also gives a bad impression to the little ones, when the older kids act crazy and carelessly in the pool. My nephew's travel soccer team recently played here. The facility and grounds were ok. Nothing mind blowing. The restrooms could use some cleaning. Nice view of the soccer fields. They have bleachers if you happen to not have your own chairs. There's a covered pavilion area and a walking track. There's ample parking available. Overall , this is a decent park. read more

Williamson County has a valuable resource that Davidson County does not: an affordable way for its citizens to exercise and swim indoors. There are two indoor recreation centers in Williamson County, the Franklin center on Hillsboro Road, which has been there for at least fifteen years or so, and the newer complex in Brentwood at Concord Road. When I lived in Williamson County, I used to frequent both, taking advantage of their weight and cardio rooms and their indoor swimming pools. Both places are competing directly with the YMCA, and I admit that the amenities are not as fancy in some areas: the dressing rooms don't have saunas and steamrooms and hot tubs, but on essentials, I think the county-funded facilities are much better. The weight and cardio machines at the Brentwood location are well-maintained and top of the range. The staff are really friendly, and you can book a free consultation with a weight trainer (you pay about $50 at the Y. The pools are every bit as nice, and the Franklin facility has two, indoor and outdoor. The Brentwood facility is a little swankier and newer than Franklin, but both are great. The best thing about these facilities is the price. You can pay a nominal daily fee, or you can save money by buying monthly passes or a yearly pass (which is one of the best deals and best kept secrets in the Nashville area). read more

I'm definitely ok with this gym for the price. It's definitely no health spa, but they have personal trainers, classes, courts of all kinds, and competitive swimming lanes. You really can't go wrong here unless you show up at prime time or on a holiday or a random day they have decided to close to resurface the floors, etc. Get your workout in! read more

OK facilities and they are trying to improve. However, and I guess its because they don't have to make a profit, but the people working at the front desk are terrible. They have no inkling about what its like to serve a customer. It seems like they are put out when you do something like try to pay to get in, or ask them a question. Not all of them are like this, but most are. Unprofessional, discourteous, downright rude. It seems like, even though the place is taxpayer funded, they ought to treat folks coming there a little bit nicer. read more

I have been a member of the Willilamson County Parks & Rec for about 3 years. The cost of the facility is hard to beat, and for the most part, it offered all that I need in a gym. However, I am currently not happy at all with the Franklin Branch of the Parks and Rec on Hillsboro Rd. First of all, the gym is extremely small with a limited free weight room. Many people who work out in this small gym "hog" machines, and equipment for great lengths of time. I wanted to tell the man, who was "hogging" the only bench AND the smith machine, after doing about 20 sets of pec presses, that his chest wasn't going to grow overnight. He seemed to think it would, otherwise, why would you feel the need to do 20 sets? Secondly, I am not allowed to hog the elliptical. I like to use the cardio machine for an hour. I usually work out at 75 to 85% of my max heart rate. In other words, I am not reading a book. If certain people are allowed to hog the machines, why is it that those people who really want to sweat have to get off their cardio machine, for someone who is going to talk on the phone, or read a book. If you can concentrate on a book, you cannot be working that hard. Finally, the amount of time the Rec closes is absolutely ridiculous. They closed an hour early for the Super Bowl. Why? I'm a nurse. Guess what, I have to work weekends, and holidays, and even on Super Bowl if I am scheduled. Why is it that the employee's get treated better than the patrons? I waited Super Bowl Sunday to work out because I knew the closer I waited to the game, the less crowded the gym would be. Then I could work out at my leisure. Unfortunately they closed an hour early for the game. I called the Y, just to see if they too closed early....they did not . I told my husband, "You get what you pay for. We work out at the Kmart of gyms. What do you expect?" Is that how Williamson County Parks and Rec wants to be viewed? As for me, I will not be renewing my membership this year. I will gladly take my family and pay the extra at the Y, so that we can enjoy the facility the way a paying patron should. Now obviously, I am not your average Joe that just goes to the gym, to say I was there and I did something. I am very serious about my work out regimen. If you are a person who is committed to your regimen, and you want top of the line equipment, and a dependable facilitly that doesn't close every time you turn around, the Rec Center is probably not the place for you. read more

Love this location!!! We have kids ranging from 12 down to 7months & they have stuff for every age. The new splash pad is a wonderful addition. Free childcare is a huge plus for when we choose to workout at this facility. They have a teen game room & also a ton of events & field trips for the kids. Top notch equipment, especially since the new cardio room renovation. All the classes are on par with area gyms. Can't beat a year round indoor pool and the outdoor summer pool is great! NEVER, ever leave your children in the sitting service at the Franklin Rec center. It's terrible. I could go into detail but I won't on here. Just consider yourself warned. The facility is nice and well kept but the staff leaves much to be desired. They consistently screw up court scheduling, double booking and just not writing down what you say. This is the third time in a row I have scheduled something and had them "not see it on the chart" or double book. It's SO simple. I say 6 on tuesday, you write down 6 on tuesday. Yet they almost unfailingly screw it up. Very frustrating!!! read more

My experience with the front desk staff has been nothing but pleasant. I saw a negative review above with comments about the stafff and thought, "Are we talking about the same facility?" I've had nothing but courteous, timely attention when needing to have a card reviewed, a question answered, etc. Three years, at least three times a week. A+ in my experience. read more
