We've been through at least half a dozen dockmasters over the years, and Chase is hands down the best we've had. Living on the water comes with a steady stream of questions, projects, paperwork, and the occasional surprise, and Chase somehow manages to stay on top of all of it. Whether it's helping navigate the online system, tracking down an answer, or jumping in to solve an issue, he's always incredibly responsive and genuinely helpful. What impresses me most is his follow-through. If Chase says he's going to look into something, he does. If he says he'll get back to you, he does. His attention to detail and organization are remarkable, and I suspect his military background has a lot to do with that. Nothing seems to fall through the cracks. What really sets him apart, though, is how much he cares. Even when he's off for the day or on vacation, he somehow finds a way to make sure residents are taken care of. That's rare. I've watched Waves evolve over the years, and Chase has played a huge role in taking the marina experience to another level. He brings professionalism, kindness, efficiency, and a level of customer service that makes life here noticeably better. We are lucky to have him, and I hope his leadership team knows what an asset he is. My wife and I purchased a Bayliner 3888 motor yacht last year in Long Beach. We knew we wanted to move it to Marina Del Rey. We toured many of the marinas in MDR for the best fit for us and our new boat. We met the dockmaster, Chase Allen at Waves and we toured the marina with him. He was extremely thorough with the tour. Showed us the slips and the boater amenities available to us. The property is clean and well maintained. The docks are still wood. I love the nostalgia with the wood docks, my wife is waiting for the new concrete docks to be installed. We couldn't be happier either way. All the boaters are super nice and we've made a lot of friends here. If your looking for a home for you and your boat, come to Waves. read more

Great location in MDR, clean bathrooms and showers (which matters more than people realize), laundry facilities on-site, solid parking right in front of your boat, and good neighbors -- the kind of community vibe that's hard to find. Oh, and there's a taco truck every Saturday. Best breakfast burrito in Los Angeles. That alone is worth the slip fee. Jennifer is crazy, she micromanages who comes in and out of apartments which is friends and family. I have even heard story's of her stopping mail / packages to peoples apartments if its not the name on the lease. Find somewhere else to live if you want to be able to let friends and family use your own apartment. Highly recommend the AMLI down the street. read more

I leased a boat slip for my sailboat here for more than 5 years. When I moved the boat over in 2017, I spent the first 2 months trying to get them to refund late fees that were acquired, when it was on their "autopay" system. After a lot of back and forth, and systems this, and systems that. I was told I was still responsible. Rather than cause further animosity (since I was docking my boat there) I decided it wasn't worth the fight in a new marina. Monetarily it wasn't a huge amount of money, but it was the point, and just poor (or dubious) management. Last month because of some health matters I was forced to sell my boat. I followed their procedures completely. When the buyer took the boat I went to the office to return my 2 gate keys and verify that the slip was empty, I was given a receipt for 2 two gate keys. One key was given to me with the slip lease, the other key I added on with an $80 deposit. Chase the dock master refused to refund my spare key "deposit" because I didn't have my original receipt from 5 years ago. Apparently their record keeping isn't good enough to keep records of those kind of transactions. His response was "I don't know how you got that key". So they kept the key... and my deposit. FYI... He's the third dock master in the five years I was there read more

The Waves was a wonderful place to call home! My husband and I have stayed in other places in the marina and think Waves stood well above the rest in terms of response, cleanliness, and overall ease of access. Not to mention the units are stunning and updated very nicely. If we hadn't purchased a home we would have stayed much longer. It was an excellent place to live. read more

BEWARE OF RACIST MANAGEMENT! I called Inquiring about a 30ft boat slip, as I just purchased a new boat and was super excited to get it in the water. I spoke to a lady by the name of Eli, whom over the phone was great, gave me a quote for less than what was advertised online and informed me they had 7 spaces available and suggested I come in and take a look. (Keep in mind I am black with a white name and speak with proper English) The next day I arrive without an appointment as she said to come by anytime. When I get inside Eli is not in and I am directed to an older white woman whom once she sees me is visibly taken aback and proceeds to tell me that I can apply online and there is no reason to be there? So I explain I spoke with Eli and she said she would show me the slips available. At this point she is annoyed and calls another older white woman whom tells me she can show me ONE slip they have available and the price is what it states online. I advise her of the previous quote I was given and she immediately tells me there was a mistake and that price i was quoted over the phone is no longer available. I get to the "one" slip (keeping in mind over the phone they told me they had 7 open) and it is the very last space closest to the wall and furthest from the entrance aka the worst spot she had. I am still polite and tell her I am interested, as her response is "well we will think about it and get back to you".... Think about it? Not credit check, not let me see what's available... no. "We will think about it"! I thanked the lady and politely left, called DOLPHIN MARINA next door and was immediately greeted with respect and shown a great spot I rented on the spot, after a credit check of course. Long story short, the staff here is in your face racist, and I would not recommend renting anything here. read more

We walked in knowing there weren't any available units at the time but still wanted to see the property, we were greeted by Chase, the Dock Master, and we were immediately impressed by his amazing hospitality and warm welcome. He let us know that there aren't any units available, but still took the time to show us around (even though it is not his job). We are very grateful for Chase and his hospitality made us feel right at home. He mentioned he was new at waves but he knew the property so well and also shared a bit about the history of the Marina. It's because of him that we are willing to wait for something to open up at waves and postpone our move until something is open. read more

The management is completely incompetent and slow, which applies to the both the apartments and dock slips. I also find them to be very unhelpful. The security is invasive and annoying. There are definitely comparable apartments in the area that all have the same relative amenities and let's be honest, a boat slip is a boat slip...so I would recommend checking out other places. Lastly, I also get a little tingling of racism, which seems to be confirmed by another reviewer, but maybe that's just their normal unfriendly nature. Good - Sea lions as neighbors are the best - Great Marina views - Mostly nice people/community - Fast/efficient maintenance Bad - Be prepared to hear your neighbors, insulation in walls is essentially non-existent. - Be prepared to breathe all sorts of air from neighboring units (from cooking to weed smoke), the ventilation is bad. - Be prepared for lots of maintenance issues, from plumbing to much bigger items (e.g. our toilet had to be replaced because sewer gases were coming through a faulty seal). - Security won't resolve any issues. - The long-time property manager left in mid-2021 and was never replaced; the owners instead decided to take on the role themselves. Karla is pretentious, condescending, and overall unpleasant. She also lives in the building, which in and of itself, is problematic. - Facility Manager, Jennifer, is nice enough, but lacks communication skills and a sense of urgency. You'll only have to deal with her if the maintenance crew can't handle the issue themselves though. - There's more, but you get the gist. Bottom Line This property can only be considered luxury because of the location, not the building, and not how the building is managed. The building is old and the most recent remodel was done poorly. We lived there for nearly 2 years. However, after an unresolved issue and difficulties with management, we moved. Note that the owner made many threats when we said we were moving out. Know your rights as a tenant, owners like Karla will try to bully you if you don't. Happy hunting. read more

After visiting several locations in the marina Delray, I finally ran into the right one "Waves" there's no better feeling being welcome to a facility without them knowing who you, and making you feel right at home. from the beginning with the security guard on site and the receptionist at the dockmaster's office both received me with positive energy and made me feel right at home, Meeting Diana Doo the dock master, I knew this would be a perfect place, she took the time to explain to me in complete detail everything the facility has offer at the same time asking me questions to understand who I am and wanting to get to know me. I believe that when you choose a place were your going to spend a good portion of your life it's important that the people that run the facility, give you the comfort of knowing that you're going to be taken care of. sending my application in now hopefully she excepts me :) read more

I have kept my boat at the Waves Marina since 2003. The name used to be Tahiti Marina. The many upgrades to the docks and the boaters facilities is awesome. Thank you to our awesome Management here at WAVES. Security is excellent. I feel fortunate to have my boat berthed here. Clean and orderly! It is home. We have had our fair share of Dockmaster's for the last 16 years but our new Dockmaster, Mike, is head and shoulders above all the rest. Mike takes great care keeping our docks clean and very well-managed. He is very accessible! There's always a few boat owners taking advantage, but Mike does the best job keeping everybody in line. Hands down the worst place I have ever lived! Karla and Eli (the office manager) are extremely rude and super disorganized. It takes them months to figure out how to complete a work order, so if something in your unit breaks GOOD LUCK!!!! And to top it all off it's EXTREMELY noisy so if you are an adult that like to sleep plan to move somewhere else. If if for any reason (job transfer, family, etc) you need to break you lease, they will make any effort to rent to your unit. They hit you with this (which is the worst part) until you are gone. I just got a $10,000 bill in the mail today from them after they sat on my unit for 4 months! Just somewhere else to live trust me! read more

Just wanted to rave about my experience with Michael Boke - Dockmaster for past year. Total pro, gets stuff done and stunningly fast responsiveness to any issue where I needed help on my boat or slip etc. Having been a few other marinas in Newport Beach, Ventura and MDR, this has been a real welcome experience! Can't say enough about the security guard staff either...ESPECIALLY Shawn, he watches our stuff like a hawk and like his own family which has been a big part of comfort with my wife and daughter on the boat. We spend more time than probably 90% of others on boat so really appreciated this experience. read more

Can't say enough good things about the staff here. I've had wonderful interactions with Diana, Eli, and Anita. They were so welcoming of our family and have bent over backwards to help us feel welcome. The amenities here are first cabin, without a doubt. The boaters' restrooms and showers are gorgeous and refined, the pool area is beautiful, and the vibe all-around is very relaxed and happy. People seem to really love it here. Why wouldn't they!? This is 1-star​ review is solely​​ because of the property management staff. Eli and Anita are the most unprofessional, rude, and disrespectful property managers I've encountered. Aside from ​their lack of professionalism, they will try and screw you out of your security deposit (we're not the only ones. See other poor reviews). We professionally cleaned the apartment, including the carpets before move-out to ensure we were refunded. They claim it took $350 to clean the unit with "1-2 people working for 3 days". The carpets faded over the 2 1/2 years of tenancy and they claim they needed to be completely replaced/unsalvageable and refuse to comply with CC code regarding information on when the carpets were originally installed, rather pro-rated the cost based on the length of our tenancy. To the property owner, GET RID OF YOUR MANAGEMENT STAFF! Keep everything else the same. The property, community, ​and apartments are​ amazing and we loved our stay, outside of dealing with Eli and Anita. read more

I'm basing this on first impressions. I was looking to refer high-end clients to this property, since they offer short-term all inclusive suites. I looked at the website and photos, and was impressed. I was even going to take time to go look at the property for myself. Since I didn't get an email (like they said I would), I called again to speak to the Corporate Housing rep - Eli. Right off the bat, she was somewhat rude and condescending, and her first words were, "well you can refer clients, but we don't do any referral fee!" She then explained the policy of how every occupant is screened, and I mentioned my company would be the one responsible for the agreement and payment - submit a 'letter of responsibility.' She then mentioned that that's just how they do things, and I was OK, this property is not what I was looking for, since I want the moving transition for my clients as smooth as possible; especially since I pre-screen my clients before entering into agreement. What ticked me off was when she said, "are you afraid your clients would not pass the screening?!" I paused (since I could't believe she actually said that), then I replied, "no..." she interrupts me and continues, "then it shouldn't be a problem!" At that point I knew if I continued a conversation it would turn to an argument; and it's too early for that, and didn't want this to foreshadow my whole day. I get this property is not a good fit for my company, but if the first impression was a good one, I would remember this property (in a good way) and would let people know about it. They just lost a great marketing tool; especially now that we have great weather and summer is approaching. In conclusion, Eli did not make a great first impression and will not be sending business their way. read more

Staff here is so unprofessional and rude. I wouldn't want to live in the building where leasing office / managers are so unfriendly. I was checking apartments in the area and decided to stop by here. I checked their hours and it was 50 minutes left before they close. Other apartment communities gladly accepted walk ins so I called in and asked if I can see one particular unit that they have available. They just told me "no, come tomorrow" and hung up. Then someone from the building opened the door so I decided to step inside and at least see what's inside. The guy from the leasing office immediately steps in and says that I have to leave. I just said "I understand you might not be able to show the units, that's fine but at least can I see the building itself for a minute?" I needed to know if it was returning here. He said "no, it's a private property so please leave". I don't understand. All the other apartment mangers were so nice and here seems like they don't need any new tenants. Still, there are nicer ways to express it. I wasn't asking to to enter any private areas, the hall and a pool would be more than enough. I didn't come past their working hours, and I saw 2 people just sitting behind their computers that probably could accommodate me if they wanted. The overall atmosphere was kind of depressing. Dark lighting in the hallway or maybe the leasing office just adds that negative impression. Building looks much better on the website. Anyways, i felt terrible leaving the building and have no desire to come back. P.S. now that I looked through the other reviews half of them say how rude the staff is. Wow. Beware. P.P.S. Regarding the owners comment - nobody tried to collect my information, please don't lie. Last fall I moved to the Waves MDR Apartments and have never been so happy with my apartment, the amenities, the neighborhood, & the staff. From the very beginning the staff has been extremely helpful and friendly. The grounds are kept clean, the gym has great equipment, the yoga and meditation studio is beautiful, and the views are lovely. Extremely happy we chose to make this move. read more
