We had a great weekend on the lake for our second year in a row with a boat rental from Wax. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

My family rented a pontoon with slide on July 27,2026. I saw the pontoon and it looked nothing like the the picture. Every seat was ripped with a minimum of 5 inches. Dirty and cob webs all over. I was very upset at the condition of this pontoon. I went in and complained, the worker there said she would clean it and she did however she blamed previous renters for the rips in the boat. I told her no that wax chargers 500 hold in case you tear something up so I blame wax rental for not keeping up on repairs and having pictures on line like a new boat. Also I asked about the radio and the cigarette lighter worked and was told yes , however neither worked so we had to blow all the floats up by hand. I am 65 and I believe your advertisement for this boat was totally false also the ladder was not in good working order. Never renting from here again. I was totally disappointed. We went to Moutardier marina for ice cream and they laughed at the 600 rental boat. They told us next time to come here because they have new boats. The staff a wax listened to my complaints about the boat but they could do nothing. read more

The owners are super nice guys. They worked me in at the last minute to give me a boat slip, when I was having issues with my trailer. Cant recommend this place enough!!! read more

Great place but no control over parking area. I lost count of how many vehicles parked in the trailer spots. Who controls this ? This is a ticketed violation in other States. So Many thoughtless people here. read more

Very friendly and courteous staff. Great dock store with snacks, hot dogs and burgers to grab and take out on the lake. First time to Nolan Lake and look forward to returning soon. read more

We went for a boat rental & that's what we got. A pontoon full of mildew & mold. It did the job for a spell around the lake. Water was nice. I would try with the pricier boat rentals if you can, as they might have been more kept up in maintenance. The one we rented did not---yuck. read more

Wax Marina is the only place we launch our boats when we are at Nolin. Not only is it close to the campground where we stay but it boasts a friendly staff and allows us a nice boat ride out to our favorite spots on the lake whether it be Iberia, Ponderosa, Dog Creek or Dog Poop Island as we've aptly named it. If you happen to be camping at the campground, your yellow pass allows you to launch for free while enjoying your stay! We've been patrons here for well over the past decade. The owners have always been two of the best people I've ever met. I used to rent a slip here years ago for a week while we would be camping but all the slips that accommodate my boat stay leased out now, with a waiting list just for a lease option! If I had my wishes, I wish they had more of the 9-10' wide slips and a larger courtesy dock as the one becomes extremely busy during the summer rush, and a larger parking lot, yes they get that busy! All in all, we can rely on Kim and Ronnie and the wonderful summer help they employ should we need to fuel up, maybe a couple bags of ice for the cooler or anything we forgot along the way. Kim always has a smorgasbord or supplies inside at very good prices in my opinion. They sell fishing licenses, live bait, tackle, tons of snacks, drinks, random swimwear, sunscreen, boat supplies, water sports supplies, etc. read more

This is one of two Nolin River Lake marinas that I've experienced and one of several this year. I must say, that it was the best. You won't find a full fledged restaurant, but there is a cafe area that will suit your needs. The supplies were fully stocked reasonably priced. They pretty much had anything that you need and I was there near the closing of the season, when supplies usually run low in a marina or a store that is only open seasonally. We rented a boat. It wasn't anything extravagant, but it was enough for the two of us. They called it a fishing pontoon. It fit four people, so it wasn't near the size of a regular pontoon. It was clean and mechanically in good shape. They had several boat rental options. I think ours was one of the most inexpensive, at the rate of $85 for the day. You do have to pay for the gasoline and oil that you use too. If you're looking into renting a boat, this marina and it's options are much better here than Moody Deer Marina. The ladies at the register were sweet and super helpful. They have maps and a few other brochures available near the register. read more

The owners are very friendly. Inside they sell snacks, beverages, shirts, water shoes, hats, sunscreen & more. I felt the pricing was a bit steep, especially for having to return it so early (5:00pm through the week, 6:00pm on weekends), though it was my first time renting a boat so i'm not sure if that's typical pricing. The condition of the boat was not the best. The seats of the boat had mildew all over them. The life vests also had mildew all over them. They only offer Pontoon boats. read more

This marina is awesome! The staff was very nice and helpful and far exceeded everything! They weren't busy so he upgraded us to a bigger boat and really took the time to show us where to go to swim and fish! The younger man who helped us gas up also helped us with air for the floats and was just genuine and nice...and he was younger!!! Just good manners...we even tipped him with what little cash we had left! We rented a pontoon boat from them last weekend. The family running this marina was more than courteous and went out of their way to make sure we had a good time. The pontoon boat was one of the nicest we have ever rented (for a rental) and ran well. When we had a minor issue with the boat the man (who cooks a great breakfast BTW) had it fixed in less than 5 minutes. We will definitely rent from them again! read more

The day started out great. Got to the Marina at about 8:30 to pick up our rented pontoon. Everyone seemed so friendly and helpful... My husband and I were camping at Wax campground just around the corner from the Marina since Friday and rented the "7 person" pontoon for Sunday so we could enjoy the lake with our kids and grandbabies. We immediately went straight to the campground and anchored the boat while we cleaned up, broke down our campsite, and packed it all into the truck, showered, etc. So the first hour to hour and a half that we had the boat, we had it parked. All that is perfectly fine. We were waiting on our youngest kiddo to get there anyway. When we finished up we took it back over to the marina and anchored waiting for my son, my husband thew out the fishing line for a while and I read. My son gets there, we head out on the lake a ways and notice that there is water standing on the boat...enough to cover my feet and our shoes were floating. We figured, ok water is coming in because its choppy because of the traffic...let it go. We find a spot, anchor and put the ladder on to climb down and float in the water. As I climbed down the ladder the whole left side of it bolts and all pulled up out of the saturated floor and I almost fell off of it. We knew we were heading back to the Marina in a little while to pick up my son and his family (my grandbabies) after they got out of church so we went ahead a floated and I planned on speaking with the owners when we got back in to see if there was possibly another boat we could use because this one was HOLDING water, a significant amount of it and my kids were not going to be able to climb up and down that ladder safely AT ALL. When we got back to the marina, I went in and started to talk to Kim, I said " Ms. Kim, I dont want to sound like a complainer, but I have a couple of issues with the boat," she immediately stopped me from speaking and told me "your going to have to deal with him" and pointed to who I am assuming is her husband/Owner. So I did, I started telling him that I was worried about the amount of water that was standing and about the ladder pulling out, and I also mentioned the crazy amount of spiders on the boat...my son and I knocked 7 total off of us...before I could finish this man cut me off started quickly walking out the door to "go look at it" and telling me that the best thing to do was just "give me my money back" and it was not politely. He was immediately on the defensive. I tried to tell him as he was practically running away from me that I wasn't there for my money back, I wanted to see if there was another boat we could use to SAFELY enjoy our day, but he would not listen. When we got out there to look someone on the dock pointed out to us that there were 2 more spiders on the boat next to my sons shoulder. Well when that happened this man started yelling at me about how "he cant do anything about spiders" and never even looked at the ladder or the water that I originally came in concerned about. Now I am not ignorant, I had just spent two days in a tent as I often do, and I have also rented several boats before, I KNOW there are spiders in nature thank you very much, but the AMOUNT of them was excessive. HOWEVER, AGAIN that was not my main complaint, but it WAS THE ONLY ONE that these owners would point out very loudly in front of the entire marina. When I went back in to get my money (again not what I was going for but at this point after being treated the way I was and talked down to like a dog I was sure going to take it and go) I wait in the line, get up to Kim and AGAIN started out saying "I'm sorry this has turned into this...." and before I could finish my statement, Kim cut me off and started yelling at me about spiders in nature and about how I just came in there took half the day and expected my money back, like I was trying to rip them off, so I told her then just give me half my money back...she said "OH NO I'm giving you all of it" in a very condescending tone. Funny that she will yell at me about the spider problem but literally pointed in my face and told me to "SHUT UP AND LISTEN" anytime I talked about the actual issues with their boat, she at one point had to apologize to a little boy behind me because she cussed at me. While we went back and forth, because of course at this point I was not happy at all, she was getting the money out of the drawer to refund me (which again was the rude mans idea not mine) I kept reiterating that my complaint was the water and the ladder not being safe she told me AGAIN to "SHUT UP or she wasn't giving me shit back" that is when she had to apologize to the little boy. The only time she acknowledged the water standing she said "when you have four people on the front of a boat the water is going to splash over" when I reminded her that I only had 3 people on the whole boat, she again got angrier.
