Wax N'Peels (Studio #21) is located inside Sola Salons (next to The Glow Room #22) - the same shopping center as Kohl's, Marshalls and Trader Joe's in Monrovia. Thanks to my trusty Yelp and other rave Yelp reviews for Perla, Yelpers did not steer me wrong here. Parking: Plentiful parking both front and back. Booking: Online, very easy! You'll need to put down a credit card to reserve your spot. COVID-19 Safety Procedures: +Upon arrival, just text Perla and let her know you're here. She'll either let you know that she's ready for you or still finishing up with a client. I usually get to my appointments early and either chill in the car listening to my audio books or playing Pokémon Go! +Face masks for both Perla and clients. In addition, Perla also has on a face shield and gloves. Hand sanitizer is available, and her workspace is clean and nicely ventilated. The table to lie down on is comfortable, covered and sanitized. Perla's establishment is clean, comfortable and pretty chilled. Perla was great to work with. After introducing herself, she got down to business. Lying down, Zen-out for 30 mins and listening to the soft music overhead, Perla cleansed my eyebrows, dusted some powder over them and then waxed afterwards. She's lightning quick with the wax. I didn't even feel it until she starting stripping off the wax strips (gentle still). Once the waxing was done, onto the tweezing and trimming. I loved how meticulous she was with each eyebrow. Perla really got in there with tweezing out any tiny stray hairs that the wax didn't get. The gentle trimming was totally giving me Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response (AMSR) tingles, omg, lol! Best of all, each time Perla turned my head over to focus on the other eyebrow, my neck was getting great stretches in between, lol! Lastly, Perla applied some cooling gel (little pink, but it went away after blasting AC in my car) before the session was over. Restroom: The Women's restroom (three stalls) is two doors down from Perla's studio if you walk pass it. The stalls are clean spacious and stocked. Overall, I was very pleased with my first session and looking forward to many more sessions with Perla. I highly recommend her and she also does facials and other waxes too! My last visit was not the best. I let Perla know she waxed too much skin on my last 2 sessions and left scabs on my lip/eyebrow. Instead of saying sorry, she hit me with "that's what happens when you have dry skin"... For $25 eyebrow wax I expected a nicer response. OMG! Shame on me! I seriously thought I already wrote a review. Well it's better late than never right?;) My regular waxing lady was booked and I needed to be hairless! Saw a deal on one of those sites and was able to schedule an appointment with Perla. That was about 2 years ago and I've been going to Perla ever since. Even though I only get the Brazilian, I think it's safe to say that she's good at doing all sorts of waxing. If she can do an amazing job removing the she-stache from your vertical smile, getting your legs or any other part of your body wax is a walk in the park :) Now onto the Brazilian! One reason why I love Perla is that she is thorough. I mean REALLY thorough. She will bust out the tweezers if one of those pesky hairs escapes the wax. She's also very professional. She is always on time. If you are schedule for a certain time, you will see her at that time. (One thing I hated about my old waxing place was that I show up for my scheduled time and I would often have to wait up to an hour to see my waxing lady.) Your time is precious and Perla respects that. She doesn't overbook and make you wait. Also when you're on the waxing time, she gives you her full attention. My life has forever changed. I had always considered a Brazilian but never followed through really because I was hesitant but I finally bit the bullet and am extremely pleased. FIRST, I jumped on her website at 5:20 and had an appointment booked for 6pm. I am the most impatient person so an on-demand booking without even placing a phone call was clutch. Second, the salon was fantastic, clean and trendy. Perla operates out of a salon and has a private room. I arrived 15 minutes early and she greeted me and took my back promptly! I told her it was my first time and I was slightly nervous and she was so sweet. She gave me a towel to undress from the waist down, wipes to freshen up, and stepped out for a few minutes. I thought I was going to be really nervous and self conscious but after the first few applications do wax I forgot really that she was just straight up looking at my vagina/bum with the worlds brightest light. She told me the parts that would hurt and surprisingly it was the worst on top, but between my cheeks it wasn't bad AT ALL. I was shocked. I'm thrilled to not have to shave/maintain for 4-6 weeks. Very nice and thorough! She was very helpful and offered very good advice on maintaining skin care and down under ;) She attacked all in growns, which is rare for the aestheticians I know who are too scared that you will start squirming. Her facials are also relaxing and really does wonders to your skin! She accurately diagnosed my disgusting combo-oily skin and extracted all this nasty stuff that like I said, most aestheticians gloss over. She gave me the hibiscus face peel, which did make my face feel tight (she mentioned it would), but my skin feels wonderful and smooth already! My forehead is not as oily and I feel like my face can BREATHE! Another thing I love is that she doesn't try to sell you any additional products or ask you to come in for weekly facials...and she always tells you exactly what she is about to go so you're not in the dark! Today was my first time at Wax N' Peel! Although I was running couple minutes late, Perla was understanding and started my brazillian process right away. I'm not sure if Perla uses high quality wax or its because I got a brazillian wax 2 months ago, but her waxing process was the least painful of all the waxing salons I've been to (I've been to at least 3 or 4 locations.) She carries on chill, relaxed conversation but isn't overbearing or too talktative. Just the way I like it! In addition, she was speedy but thorough with her work, which is always a plus! Last but not least, she bumped her $50 reg price to $35 for me because of the first time yelp check-in coupon. Another bonus is that you get 15% off if you refer a friend. Update: The first day or so I was very happy with my results, but as time passed I noticed some inconsistencies that makes me think twice of going back to Wax n' Peels. I had noticed some hairs that weren't plucks even though she had the brightly lit magnifying glass. Also my eyebrow arches not being the same which completely changes the look of both eyebrows. My tails were two different thicknesses and lengths. It may sound like I'm being picky but I have thick, dark eyebrows and it matters to me how my face is framed. She also waxed my up lip, and the right side by the corner of my mouth after a day was slightly raw and later scabbed up a bit. Hairs were still present around my upper lip as well. She uses a hot wax and and waxed the same areas a few times so that probably why the part of my lip got raw. I also broke out under my eyebrows, which is rare for me to get breakouts in those areas even though I do have acne. I'm still curious about the facial but I haven't seen really any reviews about them so I don't know. It's close by so it's nice to know they're there, but I do get better luck with EWC most of the time :/ it's a bummer to not find "my waxer," you know? read more

I found this place on Yelp. Saw many good reviews and so I decided to give this place a try. My normal wax lady relocated to a further location so I needed some place closer. I scheduled my appointment online. Pretty convenient. They would send a confirmation email & a reminder email the day before. You can choose what type of service/s you want & there's a time frame for each service. You'll know how long you will need to be there for. I choose the Brazilian Wax. Perla was great. Very professional. She didnt make me feel akward at all even though this is my first time meeting her. They have a no double dipping policy which is awsome! Perla will take out the tweezers and go after any strays that escaped from the waxing. She was thorough. All nice and clean and smooth. No pain at all. Parking is in the back but if you're lucky you may find street parking in the front. Be on time because Perla is. I got lost the first time so I had to wait. She had another appointment right after my time frame so that's why when you pick the services they tell you the time frame. After you are finish, you can pay right inside the room. Cash or credit. Perla! Quite the pearl! I've only been here once about a month ago and well, for the price after checking in on yelp- I am really impressed!! It was as painless as it could possibly be and she is so so thorough! She will literally pluck out every damn hair that didn't come out with the wax AND even get your ingrown hair out! About the ingrown hair. Every other place I've had a bare Brazilian at, I always always have ingrown hair, but I have to say that with Perla, my ingrown hair is as close to no more as it has ever been!! I am now recommending her to everyone around me curious to get a Brazilian wax or any sort of wax. I've been going to Perla for waxing for many years. She is gentle, pleasant and definitely in the know about the latest and greatest in waxes & techniques. She will take her time and hunt down every stray hair. She is a perfectionist. She makes the bikini waxing experience a great one...which is why I don't dread it every month anymore. She's great! I've been itching for a Brazilian wax, and have been looking for a place everywhere. I've tried waxing myself but I could never get EVERYTHING. So I usually shave or pluck. Boy was I wrong the waxing table was gross but having no experience I didn't know what the table was suppose to look like. Also I even purchased the numbing spray with by the way didn't help much. I've had horrible, and I mean HORRIBLE experiences with people who do not know how to use hard wax, and Perla knows what she's doing. Super happy with her for that! Although I had quick re-growth in some areas (hairs were probably broken off at the skin versus pulled out at the root), there was minimal pain and the price was SO REASONABLE with my Yelp coupon.
