We came to town for the Ice Castles and due to the warmer temperature the event was cancelled. While we were browsing the shops we stumbled upon this store. We walked in and were greeted by Jim. Jim was very welcoming and helpful. He made the experience worth it. He explained the steps and allowed us plenty of time to cut our wax and fill our canisters. May I add that what makes this worth the time and money is it's totally customizable! You are able to pick the shape of the candle as well as picking the scent of it (all reasonable prices). We had a fun time hanging with Jim especially after our plans got cancelled. Fun for all ages. If you're looking for a fun activity to do as a couple, or with family and friends, go visit Wax and Wix and make a candle. So much fun! Found this place in February and on our April trip to lake George we visited again! Great activity. Super fun. Dog friendly although we didn't bring our dogs. Very relaxing and great way to spend time chatting, we always bring some wine to sit and enjoy while we make some candles. Many shapes, colors and scents available to choose from. Will be back again next time we visit the lake. read more

My boyfriend threw me a surprise birthday party here and we had SUCH a great time. They allowed us to bring in a cake and decorations. Although an interesting experience, I was very disappointed that I made an appt that was never communicated to staff. Upon arrival the staff member seemed annoyed, and acted overwhelmed. The store has I believe four tables and two were being used, we were accommodated but the interaction left a bad taste in my mouth. There wasn't much of a tutorial, which is fine but I would have preferred to understand the full process but I guess the staff was just too jostled with us. Overall it's an activity, don't expect much guidance, the pricing was fair and it's something a little different to do. read more

My boyfriend and I were just about to leave the outlet mall until we walked past Wax N Wix! It looked like a cute place and we saw a sign about candle making so we walked in. Had a great time here after the polar plunge! The owner is really friendly and made the process of designing our own candle a lot of fun. I really enjoyed the cozy atmosphere she's created. Let me start by saying the place is cute, and by cute I mean small, and it is a fun activity! We did have fun here. Yes, we had to come back a second time because the place was full, but that wasn't a big deal. They only have around 4 tables to work at. Once we made reservations for later, and came back, there was room. So why the 3 star review? A few reasons. First, my daughter's candle was taken by another customer! You have to leave your candles to be finished by the owner after you design them. When you're away, anything can happen, including your losing what you made. I don't know if it was stolen or an honest mistake, but I tend to think it's the former since each candle is unique and you know what colors you used. So that was very disappointing after an hour or more of work, and you have nothing to show for it at the end of the day. I think the owner should do a better job of labeling each family's work. Second, the owner is there by himself and is overrun. He needs an assistant. He cannot help all the people at once and people are left helpless for a time. Third, the colors are very limited if you go towards the afternoon and later because the colors get used up, and the owner being so busy with the customers with no help, has no time to make more colors. So your color options get less and less the later you go. Overall, it is a fun activity for adults and kids alike, but learn the lessons from me, and hopefully you will leave with the products you made! read more

We had my daughter's 5th birthday party here, and the kids had a fantastic time! The owner was able to make everything run smoothly, including keeping track of the candle shape and scent for every kid! She's very friendly, and made everyone feel welcome and comfortable. The cost was very inexpensive and each kid got to go home with a really nice big scented candle. The parents and kids were thrilled. This is a fun activity for kids or adults. Choosing your own scent (there are lots of great ones), your own mold shape, and your own wax colors is really neat. This place is a total gem! Cozy relaxed environment where you can completely customize a high quality candle. It is conveniently located of the main strip on Montcalm street within walking distance of multiple bars and restaurants. Awesome activity on a rainy day or need to get out of the sun. The owners are great and extremely flexible going out of their way to accommodate our schedule. They are also happy to search for and order items which are not found in the store.
