I made an appointment on Saturday and was able to get in within two hours. I paid for the full facial waxing, Eyebrow wax and an eye and face hydrating mask. I have PCOS and the hair on my chin and jaw line was fully grown out. Issues: Brows were waxed with no tweezer shaping. I get my brows done regularly and this was the least amount of effort I've had anyone put into them. I asked for a feminine arch and there was none. The hair on my chin and jawline was not adequately removed. I was told that this is to be expected due to it being my first facial wax; and that there would be hairs that were too thick to be removed by the wax, but if I kept up with the procedures every four weeks the hair will eventually become thinner. The aesthetician plucked some of the long hairs remaining by hand but not all of them... When I got to my car I could feel long hairs around my chin and jaw line that could have easily been removed by the tweezers. I went back inside and told her I wanted them removed and that that it was pointless for me to have paid all this money and sat through that much pain to have long hairs hanging off my face. She took me back and removed more of the remaining hairs by hand. Now that I'm home I realize she did not wax my upper lip, which should have been included in the full face waxing that I paid for. The hairs there are very visible. There are also still long hairs remaining around my side burn and chin area. The peach fuzz on my cheeks and side burns are still there and it looks no different from when I walked into the salon. All in all it felt like a very rushed, unprofessional job. Only about 90% of the hair on my face was removed. I wish I would have caught that she forgot to do my upper lip and either gotten a refund or a third fix up, although going in a second time was exhausting enough. I would not return here again. Positives? The facial mask was nice and very soothing on the skin. read more

Zero stars!! Terrible. Went for a last lift and Bikini wax. Lash lift was unnoticeable (I've had several before) and had to take time out of my day to go back and have them redo bikini wax. Sent me away with glue all over my eyes where I could barely see (once again, never had this happen before). No offer of refund for the lash lift even though we both agreed it didn't take. $400 later and left really unhappy. Please look elsewhere. read more

Rena is great. But overall this business is a scam and shady. The monthly membership auto charge was forced on me during my initial visit. I went to cancel and that method was horrible, the receptionist said I would get an email in a week... after I cancel my membership, I go back for an eyebrow wax and I was told the system automatically adds a tip. I had no say in the tip amount. When I asked where it was in writing, she said "oh the system automatically does that" I asked when that started- she said 2 months ago, well that's not true, because I was there twice in the past two months. This is a second review, I have been coming here for over a year now and their cerologists change kinda often. At the moment the two ladies that have done the best job for a Brazilian wax are Olga and Aleksandra, really thorough job with attention to detail. Sometimes if I get another person I find hair in hard to reach places which is upsetting taking into consideration the price of the service but this doesn't happen with Olga or Aleksandra, they take their time and don't rush which are not the vibes I get from some of the other girls. read more

First time here and recommended by my hairdresser. Not knowing who to pick for my full face wax and eyebrow tint I randomly chose Aleksandra. I am used to both services and the waxing went as expected but when I got home and looked in my hand mirror, there were so many areas that had been missed. I was given a mirror when she finished the waxing but in that light it is hard to see your skin up close. I still have a lot of areas with "peach fuzz" on it. My next service was the eyebrow tinting. I always tell the technicians that I do NOT want black eyebrows. Aleksandra assured me that they won't be black and that they will "look natural". I have blonde hair with natural - light charcoal colored eyebrows. As I said before I am used to having my eyebrows tinted back in Buffalo so I know that the tint will stain the skin temporarily under the brow and that the brow will lighten up in a few days. I looked in the mirror and thought they were too dark but again it is hard to see the finished product until you see it in natural light. I facetimed my daughter and my 10 and 12 yr. old grandchildren. The grandson said I looked like the birds in the movie, Angry Birds. I couldn't agree more. I went back to the studio and the manager came out to see me along with another girl and immediately took me to a room to fix my brows. The girl, Rachel was amazing. She took her time with me, and fixed the problem I would highly recommend RACHEL. I am grateful that the manager and Rachel took care of me! read more

Not only is the place spotless and well designed, it's run by the nicest and most professional staff I've ever experienced. Always thought it was a normal thing to not talk and just get the pain over with. Waxing the city was like finding that awesome teacher at school, they opened my eyes to how it should be done. I had a nice conversation with the cerologist whilst barely even paying attention to the waxing! If you are currently going to waxing facilities that use soft wax for all areas including the more sensitive areas (like bikini/face/underarm) PLEASE love yourself a little and find a place that uses hard wax for these areas. I had been getting Brazilians for 2 years at a place that used soft wax for EVERYTHING. I just came to terms with the amount of pain I'd have to go through if I wanted to avoid shaving, but it wasn't until I went to Waxing the City that I realized just how painless the experience can be. I was very excited to try Waxing the City however I left my first appointment feeling extremely disappointed. The supposed 1 and 1/2 hour appointment took nearly three hours, and at the end my legs were not even fully waxed. I was left with patches of hair on various sections of my legs, and was told they were unable to be waxed. Upon measuring the hairs when I got home, I determined that they were in the proper range of length and should have been waxed properly. I also paid full price for 2 of my 3 services even though it was my first time (confusing advertising). In the future I will be waxing my legs myself as I think it would result in better outcomes. read more

I have never gotten a wax treatment done before so I was a bit nervous when I decided to try it with a friend and the service at Waxing the City by far exceeded my expectations. I had the pleasure of having Yana Hosny wax my eyebrows, lips and she even made the thoughtful suggestion of waxing my nose hairs which I didn't even know was a thing! She walked me through everything she did (probably because she could tell I was nervous about how painful waxing could be) which was quite helpful to calm my nerves and she did her first wax on my lips and I barely felt a thing! Then when it came to waxing my nose hairs I was extra extra nervous for the pain and that wasn't painful at all either and I love that I don't have to worry about my nose hairs exposing themselves when I smile! Yana definitely knows what she's doing. I really wasn't into much beauty maintenance before coming here but I definitely plan on coming back here for future treatments. I don't submit a ton of online reviews, but I felt so comfortable here I just have to rave about it. I highly recommend Waxing the City and Yana.
