This place is really hit or miss depending on which nail technician you get. I've had some wonderful gel mani/pedis here, but also a few that were pretty lackluster. On my last visit, I brought my daughter with me. We weren't given a choice about the type of pedicure, usually they give you a menu. I decided to switch to a regular pedicure this time since I was already getting a gel manicure for my birthday, and my daughter was getting a pedi and gel mani for her homecoming dance. Altogether, we were spending quite a bit of money, so I expected good service. Unfortunately, my pedicure turned out terrible. The polish looked rushed, had almost no shine from the start, and started chipping within a week. My nail tech also filed my fingernails unevenly -- even after I asked her to fix them, they ended up much shorter than I wanted. My daughter liked her gel manicure, but her regular pedicure was also just okay. I can't help but feel like they put little effort into the regular pedis because they want customers to upgrade to gel. Overall, I left disappointed and out over $200. We'll be finding another salon next time. read more

I don't recommended going here. She cut my nail in half because she didn't want to take the time to soak my nails off the proper way. She scraped my pedicure off with an acrylic nail and cut my big toe nail in half. When I pulled away and expressed that it hurt she kept going anyways and cut my nail and it bled badly. I said you just cut my nail! She kept laughing and then proceeded to try and cover herself up by saying "what happened" while fixing it up. None of the equipment was clean. I came to AJ Nails for a second time, this time for a pedicure. Emma was amazing!! I splurged and got the Royal Spa Pedicure and enjoyed every minute. I called about two hours ahead for an appointment. The man who answered the phone was so kind and polite. I arrived, picked my color and sat in one of the many pedicure chairs and enjoyed a chair massage while I waited. The salon was clean, quiet and peaceful despite being quite busy. Emma was attentive, friendly and gentle. She did not rush through the pedicure, which I always appreciate! My last pedicure was two months ago so there was a lot that needed upkeep. I've been here 3 times. 3 times too many. First time my 9 year old got a manicure. All sides of her nails were not painted. Went back in and they did fix it. Second time: got a spa pedicure. For $60 it was nothing but a basic pedicure and my nails chipped much faster than normal. 3rd time: I got a gel manicure for Christmas. I went in December 22. It was so thick and looked terrible. By Christmas ALL my nails were chipped. The day after Christmas my nails peeled from the bottom and came right up. 4 days after I got it. I called asking for a refund and he refused. Gel should last 2-3 weeks not 4 days. Every nail peeled off. Honestly the worst manicure I've gotten in my entire life. read more

Came in today, got a pedicure and a full set. Toes looked great. Little bit of a situation while getting my nails done, not a huge deal just didn't like how they looked at the end. Not to mention I didn't get what I asked for. Went to pay and asked them to break down the cost and the price they gave me sounded a little high and I wanted to understand. the owner explained the price and it ended up being cheaper after I asked. The woman checking me out threw the receipt at me and was being very aggressive probably assuming I wasn't going to tip... I did in-fact tip and was not trying to cause a commotion. Despite not loving the outcome of the Nails, I did still want to tip the man who did them. The behavior of the lady was unnecessary and rude. She wasn't involved in the situation at all so Not sure why she decided to involve herself and make things worse. It's in a great location and the few times I've been there, I've always been helped right away, even without an appointment. I've yet to get a manicure, but my pedicure experiences have been great. The color lasts a long time, and the technicians make it very relaxing, even when you get the most affordable pedicure available. I'm always a walk-in and have never had to wait very long at all; I nearly always have a different tech and I've always been happy with their work. I have been going to AJ nails for several years and never have I been so humiliated in public as a was today. I went in yesterday to get a gel manicure and a pedicure and though the technician was very nice, I ultimately had to go home and cut all of my cuticles on the nails and toes and repaint my toenails because instead of coral, he painted them orange. By this morning, 3 of my nails peeled up on the edges so I called and was nicely told to come in and they would fix them. Great! By the time I went in this afternoon, 5 nails were peeling so I asked that all of the nails be redone. I was told no, that only the ones that were peeling would be fixed-income. I asked for a refund and again was told no, that they don't issue refunds. So then the owner and I went back-and-forth with each of us trying to explain our sides, which for myself meant that I did not want to take the risk of the other nails peeling off as I was leaving foe out of the country tomorrow and couldn't just come in to get them fixed once more. Then the situation turned sour when the owner yelled at me in front of the entire salon and stated that I wasn't listening to him and that I only wanted a refund and they would only fix those nails. Period. It is a shame to lose a loyal customer who was willing to pay the money for subpar services without complaint until the actual integrity of the polish became a problem. Will not be returning and will not be recommending as I had over the past few years. read more

AJ nails was a complete random stop for me. I was in the area, when I spotted the nail shop. I called and ask how long is the wait time for a walk in? the guy said "there will be no wait". I said ok I'll be there in 5 minutes! I get there in 3 minutes. I get inside and was seated right away! Cool Brownie points for them. The lady, who's name I think is Amey, was wonderful - great personality, we both had good laughs during my nail service. All of this is was appreciated. However, the technician wasn't as clean with the manicure and color. The polish was not blending well, some polish were bulging and I pointed out to her one spot where the nail polish wasn't evenly coated, she said don't worry I'll add another coat & towards the end I still noted the lack of polish on that specific nail. Also, the nail polish were bleeding around the cuticles. I pointed some of the defects out to her and she'd made an effort to fix it. I wanted to give her 5 star bc she's an awesome individual with down to earth personality but disappointingly it wasn't matched with how the out come of my nails. read more

Very disappointed with my experience here. My husband called ahead to request a deluxe experience for my anniversary gift. The pedicure was so quick. I came in with a photo of the design I wanted. She said no problem. After she was halfway done, she said she couldn't do any of the design and could only do a solid color. I asked to have my heels cleaned up more, and she said no more. For my manicure, they couldn't even provide an armrest. I was holding my wrists on nail supply containers. The WORST customer service I've ever experienced in my entire life. We got regular pedicures. Service says it takes 30 min, pretty sure ours were done in 10-15 min. The techs did not put top coats on and the owner argued that they did even though we are the ones watching the job being done - not him. Nail job was sub-par- could have done it myself. Lazy technicians, poor service, and the owner is the rudest business owner we've ever encountered. I was shopping in the area and decided to drop in for a mani/pedi after reading the great Yelp reviews. Walked in and nearly every seat was filled, it was packed, people were waiting; however, I was acknowledged and asked to sit. The wait wasn't unbearably long until I sat in the pedicure chair and the water got uncomfortably cold. I asked two technicians to make it hotter & they both told me I had to wait for the person who would be servicing me. When I was finally serviced I enjoyed the pedicure (& the tech apologized & said they were extremely busy & next time I come tell them that I want the water hot BUT I receive a "dry" manicure. I've never had a manicure without my hands being soaked (I had already been waiting a while so I didn't bother to question it). What I'm most disappointed in is that my no-chip polish doesn't even resemble my toe nail polish. It looked like a match inside the salon but now that I'm home it looks way off. This is my new favorite nail place. It's SO CLEAN! ...and the nail techs do a great job. Bonus is they are all pleasant, but they don't try to make any small talk and let you relax. It's located in the strip mall where Fresh Market is near Khol's and Peltz shoes. You'll notice there is no smell of chemicals. There's a waiting area with refreshments or better yet, you can go down to Earths Fruit Yogurt a few doors down. The bottles of polish are all orderly and easy to view. The massage chairs are comfortable. The staff all wear gloves and they use plastic liners in the tub for each use. I just hope they recycle all that plastic. Some places charge extra for everything, nickel and dime.
