I was charged $19.50 because they said I made an appointment either in person or online (they said they're not sure and can't verify how I made this appointment, but are authorized to charge me because they said I somehow made one, but unsure how I did it). I used to love coming here, but unfortunately it's now a huge Scam. Cassandra said their word goes because I signed some paper years ago and said the manager, Emily, will tell me the same thing if she spoke with me, but unfortunately was not willing to talk and help me. Scary that I'm not sure what else I agreed to when I signed this supposed document for no contract/walk-in appointment waxing). They stole $19.50 and lost regular customer by doing so. Please believe the low reviews!! I am the first person to give people benefit of doubt but trust me. Yes the waxers are very good and nice. It is the people in the front and the so called "assistant manager". Who I found out was not at a different location. They refuse to work with you when your card gets charged twice. This happened to me and I was trying to find a solution just to get security called and said I was acting out of hand, words from the "assistant manager" Everybody there could tell you I was not, even the security. read more

GOT A STAPH INFECTION. After a few months getting waxed I noticed I was getting bumps. When I would come in I would just get told it's ingrowns. Since they're the "professionals" I would buy ingrown treatments and took it as that. After months of being uncomfortable and nothing going away, I went to the doctor and was informed it was staph. In my opinion, if you're an esthetician, you should know the difference between what's ingrowns and what's not.. And just like previous reviews, I would also get charged for things that shouldn't have been and had to call multiple times to get things settled. Would not recommend. read more

I did appreciate my cerologist and she was great BUT when I could not make my appointment due to being up all night stabilizing patients in the hospital, there was no understanding or sympathy and they still charged me half the price of the visit even though I could not make the appointment. They force you to sign an agreement that you will pay no matter what even under extenuating circumstances. I was shocked and disappointed by the rudeness and unprofessionalism. I will be taking my business elsewhere. I would advise finding a more customer friendly salon. read more

I drove 45 minutes from out of town for my appointment. I am an into unexpected traffic delays and called to let them know that I was running late. I arrived 15 minutes late and they would not see me saying that they will only accommodate 10 minutes late, and that my 15 minutes were too late. I was also charged 50% of my service fee--which I had only seen on the website that they would charge for a no show. The women at the reception desk were not sympathetic or accommodating at all. I've been burned literally in the past by eyebrow waxers. Went to threading and was also disappointed with inconsistenty. I found someone in Louisville but need someone here in Lexington. I saw Facebook ads for this location and heard they followed say business model as European Wax Centers/EWC (I've been to VA & FL locations & loved them). I tried to walk in hoping for an appointment. A lady met me a door following Covid protocols. Informed me they're not doing walk-ins but graciously offered to check for me. Thankfully there was an opening & by the time I did paperwork my tech Makayla came out to get me. I was rushing to get pics for review but she seemed impatient & I didn't want to be a rude walk-in...my eyebrows were in desperate need of attention. Setup is very similar to EWC. I tried to make small talk with tech telling her about my past bad experiences. She was not engaging at all. As our first time together I expected her to get some feedback on what I prefer/like...she didn't talk to me at all. Nor did she talk about steps or product she was using on me. Wax at times was a little to warm. She used multiple unknown products. She trimmed, waxed, & tweezed. At the end she handed me a mirror & asked for feedback. My eyes were watery & I was red (which is typical). I said work was fine and she escorted me to front...that was it. Receptionist was a lot friendlier but I declined to book another. She said I got a 20% off service as a first time customer. I still paid right under $25 with a 15% tip (service is service). But my brows were not even, arches not consistent with one another. Two other friends pointed out the same issues. I'm sure there are better techs, I'll have to research but I definitely don't want Makayla again. No one pushed products so that saved me money. read more

My first wax in a WHILE, so I had a ton of hair to remove. I saw Camden (I think?) and she was very friendly and professional. She removed just the right amount of hair from my eyebrows...and every tiny hair from my upper lip! I will definitely be back. I would also like to add my eyebrows are perfectly symmetrical, which is hard to do with my brows for some reason. Update: I went for a second visit. I won't mention who did my eyebrows this time because I don't want to hurt her feelings. She took too much hair off and waxed them like 3x in a row which left me in pain and very red (into the next day as well). I put on my info sheet that I have sensitive skin and a chronic pain condition. read more

DO NOT GO HERE!! 1. I called to let them know I was going to be a little late and they were very rude, "K I'll tell her bye." Then, hung up on me 2. They have a policy that if you arrive over 10 minutes late, they charge an extra 20%. I entered the building at 12:36, appointment was at 12:30, and I was in the waxing room by 12:40. The lady proceeded to tell me that we wouldn't be able to do the full service because of the late policy, but I was in their time range. I had an appointment for a full Brazilian wax. She originally only planned to do the front, and I requested she do the backside, to which she replied, "Well, I'll have to charge you extra, because I was going to originally charge you for a modified Brazilian" ??? Next thing you know, I was still left with a horrific landing strip, didn't even do the full thing. 3. As I go up to pay, I asked the lady if she could break $100 bill, she was hesitant at first but then said she could. I told her I could give her smaller bills to which she insisted she could break the 100, I then stood there for another 15 minutes while they ruffled through a petty cash bag, because "they didn't know how to reverse the sale" All in all, very unprofessional and rude, and didn't complete the full service, and I'm not even totally sure what I paid for. Under no circumstances should anyone ever come here. I thought that this was going to be a great experience and I jumped at the opportunity because they were offering 50% off for first time costumers. I arrived to my appointment on time and followed the standard procedure of filling out paperwork for first-time customers. I went to the room with my waxer, Desiree, and started the process. At first it seemed like everything was going well but she was being very rough, was applying the wax too soon which led to burns and struggled to pull the wax off once it was hardened. Once she was finally done, and I say finally because it took her almost 40 minutes, I got off the table. She thanked me for coming in and said that she would meet me out front for payment. When I stood up I felt very sticky so I went to the mirror to check and I literally started crying. There was a ridiculous amount of wax residue and powder left all between my legs and on the front of my vagina. I went to the front and Desiree was there waiting for me. I was so shocked at how I was left that I couldnt even say anything to her. Once she left I asked the receptionist if her or anyone else could come to the room with me to see how I was left. After some confusion, one of the other waxers was kind enough to go back into a room with me and remove the wax residue. As she was removing all that was left, she was telling me that this is not what they are trained to do and that there is no reason why I was left like this. After she was done fixing the problem I went back to the front and asked for the manager because there was no way that I was going to pay for this service. While I was waiting for the manager, Someone who I am assuming to be the owner came by. One of the receptionist explain to him what was happening they went into an office. When the reception is return she told me that I would still have to pay for the service because there was no hair left behind and it was "just" wax residue. I became very upset and told her that I was not going to be paying for this service and that I had no issue leaving a tip for the waxer who fixed the issue. She told me again that I would have to pay because they resolved my issue but I honestly felt like that was the least that they could do after the way Desiree left me. The owner was standing there the whole time and didn't say anything until I repeatedly said that I was not paying for the service. He then said you're fine have a good day and I left. I have been getting waxed for about five years now and this is absolutely the worst service that I have ever received. As a customer I have never felt so dismissed in my life. Not once did anyone apologize. I will never be coming back here and if you're looking for a professional waxing establishment I would not recommend this place. I had an appointment yesterday with Makayla for a brow wax. It was my first time coming to Waxing the City. Covid procedures were being used and the facility looked professional and clean. When the waxing began, the wax temperature seemed a bit warm, but not uncomfortable. As waxing continued, I told her that it was really HOT! She resumed with no response. I emphasized my comment by telling her that I'd had a bad experience many years ago at a different store. I had my skin ripped off due to hot wax. She commiserated with me and said she had never heard good things about that establishment. The wax also was very "stringy" and long tendrils of wax landed on my face as Makayla applied the hot wax. No attempt was made to remove the fine substance. Upon conclusion of the procedure, I noticed the right side hurt when the aloe was applied. It became more evident, as the day progressed, that my skin was raw and burned. I will not be returning to this establishment. I figured that since the business was exclusively for waxing that the cerologists would be highly experienced and skilled at their craft. I was mistaken. read more

The best Brazilian I've experienced hands down. I'm also an esthetician, just moved here, and have tried another spot before here. Alicia was fast without being too speedy, knowledgeable, caring, and talkative. I'm not affiliated with this company at all. Just a customer who has had Brazilians done all over the USA. I love their wax, and their business is clean and elegant. Always be sure to communicate with your esthetician if their is something you want done differently, ie: the wax is too warm, or you don't want all the hair gone, etc. FANTASTIC staff all around. Received a charge from waxing city that I didn't make, when I called to get a refund they told me I made an appointment that I know for a fact I did not and they charged me a no show fee I've read some reviews before posting this, I see others having the same issue. Don't sign anything for this place, It means they can charge your card whenever they want, just shady business here and they won't discuss refunding the fee when they make an error. I wish there was a way to give negative stars when someone basically steals money from you. read more

Negative 10 with Morgan, I have a space Between my eyes that is horrible, she slapped the wax on both eyes at the same time and and ripped it off, took 10 minutes for brow and lip. I never leave reviews but I wish I could have read this when I was researching a place to get my first brazilian wax. I got my first full brazilian about a week ago. The waxing experience itself was great. The place was clean and I felt taken care of. However, the lady waxing me finished up and told me to meet her up front to pay (I believe her name was Haley? Hailee? Not sure tbh) and I stood up and realized I still had wax all over me. I stood there for a good 3 minutes just ripping off all the extra wax that was all over my thighs and buttcrack stuck to patches of hair that were missed. Basically waxing myself. While doing that I realized she had left several whole sections (where the front meets the back, kinda coochie kinda thigh area) completely untouched. I felt so confused, I stood there thinking "I thought a full brazilian was like...everything?" I couldn't ask her to help me clean up a little because she was already out front with other customers. I felt so stuck. For $69 not including tip, I just wish I could have gotten what I paid for. I personally wouldn't go here again. The place itself was really nice though! The waxer I had burned me :( not fun. When I called and kindly asked for a refund, they told me it was my fault and not a burn. Funny thing is, I work with Burns in my profession haha and these were 100% burn marks my guess is from the wax being left on my skin too long. OMG!!! I had a wonderful experience! If I'm going to be honest, I was lured in by the promise of 50% of my first waxing service. When I went in I was greeted promptly and the building was clean. I filled out some simple paperwork and was taken back. As far as waxes go, this one was fine. My cerologist (Heather) missed a couple of spots that I didn't see in the studio so I wish she had given me a minute or two to look over her work before leaving the room but otherwise it was a good experience. read more
