I was initially nervous to have my first wax done, let alone the very personal and invasive Brazilian wax. Hello so I've already wrote this in a google review but wanted to share my experience here as well! I came in for a brow lamination and lash lift. The technician, Gisselle Paulino :), ripped off the under-eye tape so roughly that it tore my skin, the manager said it is common and happens all the time... during waxes. That's not an excuse for this kind of carelessness especially on someones face. On top of that, Gisselle Paulino, didn't wear gloves at all during the service, and I left with glue still all over my lashes and lash line, even after I pointed it out. When I showed them I was hurt, both the technician and manager brushed it off like it was no big deal. A LOT of attitude from the technician. NO APOLOGY, no help, very dismissive. I ended up having to go to the hospital to get it treated, was dealing with pain, possible scarring, and stress, right before a concert and vacation I had planned. I couldn't even attend the concert the next day because of how bad it was. What really got me was that no one took any accountability. No apology, no follow-up, not even an offer for a refund. I paid $170 for a service that was not only poorly done, but actually harmed me and cost me even more in medical treatment, medication, and missing an event I'd been looking forward to. The customer service here is absolutely terrible. I gave them a chance to respond to my complaint before posting this, but never heard back. I wouldn't recommend this place at all, ESPECIALLY when it comes to anything involving your face or eyes!! Please don't risk going here!! read more

The only "experience" I got was waiting for nothing. When I walked in earlier this afternoon I immediately asked if they take walk-ins for a chin wax and the receptionist said "yes". She proceeded to take my name and phone number, then told me someone would be out to get me for my chin wax. While waiting, what appeared to be a couple of appointments came in and were taken to the back area for service, then the desk attendant was on the phone and when she got off left the front area and went into the back with no further explanation, leaving me sitting in the waiting area after patiently awaiting this "walk-in" chin wax that they said they do. So I waited several more minutes and no one came out. I'd wanted to ask "is it better to make an appointment?" but couldn't because I was left sitting in an emtpy waiting area with no explanation as to when the chin wax would start. I've been getting chin waxes for years and have never had to wait this long for a "yes, we take walk-ins" without at least a "let me check and see when someone will be with you". But apparently "yes we take walk-ins" means something else to Waxing the City and what a stupid way to treat a new first-time customer. Both your staff and whomever trains them could benefit from learning what really helps a new customer feel valuied. I left and went to the iLash Nail & Spa in the very same shopping center where they IMMEDIATELY took me for a chin wax, I mean the moment I walked in the door they said they could and sat me in the chair and started it - that's the kind of business that gets my money and good reviews. read more

I had a GREAT experience when I went here for my Brazilian. My technician made me feel very comfortable. My only complaint would be how long my service took, I'm used to Brazilians taking 10-15 minutes and this took roughly 45 minutes. read more

Wow! This place is awesome! Upon entering I was pleasantly greeted by the smiling front desk associate. I sat and waited for my waxer, Molly, who came out almost instantly. The wax room was clean and comfortable. I had my Brazilian and full legs done. The Brazilian was AMAZING! I am a hard wax since my hair can be difficult to remove. Not with their wax though. Not only did it get up every hair but I didn't flinch once! I admit, I was nervous to have soft wax used on my legs as it's typically more painful and sticky. Not their wax! It was smooth and again not painful at all. Molly kept a great conversation going. Never once did I feel uncomfortable. Her professionalism, talent and personality are all fantastic! After we were done and said our goodbyes she walked me back to the front. I casually looked at their products before checking out and never once was made to feel pressured into buying anything as I have at other wax places. Took the about 30 min drive to a part of Philadelphia I've never been too and found a great area with lots to do and lots of places to eat. Walked in, filled out a sheet of information, got my temperature taken and headed back to my room. I had the pleasure of being waxed by Natalie for my Brazilian. I've had a Brazilian before but this was the easiest and most comfortable one I've ever experienced. Natalie was very friendly and communicative throughout the whole process. Today was the first time I visited Waxing The City and also my very first time getting a Brazilian wax. The establishment was nice and cool. Clean and calm spa like atmosphere it smelled nice as well. The receptionist was friendly and greeted me as soon as I came in. Jessica was my waxer and she was amazing. Prior to getting a full leg wax at waxing the city I had never gotten a wax before. Initially, I was supposed to get a Brazilian and a full leg wax. But I then decided to cancel my Brazilian and go ahead with the full leg waxing (which I am very happy I didn't go through with the Brazilian). So I walked in the studio, the girl in the front was very welcoming. The whole place is very nice and very clean. The cerogist made me feel comfortable. She was really nice and very professional. Now don't get me wrong the waxing did hurt as I expected it to, I was not upset about that. However, I did not expect to get home that day and still see hair on my legs. My legs did not feel as smooth as I expected them to feel especially right after a waxing. My legs felt like I hadn't shaved in a day and my hairs were just starting to grow back. I also was not expecting to see a red patch on my inner thigh. I thought that it was just because I had gotten waxed and my legs were red because of the waxing it self. But I waited a few days and the red mark turned into a light brown and it kept getting darker and so I realize that I had been burned. As I was laying on the table getting wax I did not feel anything burn me. Of course the wax was hot but I didn't think it was hot enough to burn me. But I was wrong. I had been burned and burn the mark is still there. Now I just don't know what to do with this scar that is literally visible on my inner thigh. read more

Basic was the theme of my experience at this place. It is a small business on roosevelt blvd in a shopping center. The receptionist was lukewarm and the overall experience was just ok. There was nothing special about this spot and does not call for a repeat visit. My technician was friendly but inexperienced. They use powder here and there were quite a few hairs left after my wax. Dont get me wrong, I like friendliness but efficiency is also a requirement. Peices of wax was left all over me. I had to clean myself off after the appt. Since Ive been other places, I can safely say that this spot missed the mark and is not on par with other places that Ive been to. Do yourself a favor and try somewhere else. I went here a little while back and got a Brazilian. I have been to EWC in the past and believe me that whole 15 min or less model is crap. Wax the City service did not feel so rushed, the wax service was way more gentle compared to EWC, the girls uniforms/sneakers are super adorable, the rooms were way cleaner and nicer looking. I love the fact that I also wasn't pushed to buy their products, that was a deciding factor in rebooking with them. The Front desk girl and my tech were very welcoming, and professional. This was my first time at Waxing The City. I chose to come here (instead of my usual EWC) to utilize the 50% first wax service. Discount aside, prices seem to be comparable to similar-style waxing places. Akima did my Brazilian. They apply wax to small areas, so it takes about 10 more minutes than places that do "speed waxing", but the results seem to be better & there wasn't as much pain. She was very thorough and professional, and made the experience comfortable. I like that they do an evaluation post-wax, and tell you what you can do to improve your skin (dry skin, in-grown hairs, etc.). Since it was my first time at WTC, I got a freebie bag with two personal care wipes, a sample of a scrub (you can choose from five scents), & some mints. All in all, I'd definitely come here again. I typically don't write reviews but I am blown away by my service. The receptionist was friendly right as I walked in. The atmosphere was very calming, especially for me as this was my first waxing experience. I was greeted almost immediately by my cerologist Jennifer. I was very anxious but was put to ease immediately. Jennifer was phenomenal and talked me through the entire process. I am more then happy! It was my first time getting a brazilian and I was nervous. I got there 5 mins early and the place was very clean and smelled good and the receptionist made me feel welcomed. I signed a consent form and was met with right away. My waxer was Natalie. Even though I'm a pretty shy person and not used to this kind of service she made me feel super comfortable and was very professional and sweet. She kept talking to me the whole time so I wasn't really focused on the pain, guided me through it explaining every step, and always made sure i was doing alright. She did the evaluation of my skin afterwards and recommended a product to help me with the scarring on my bikini line. I like how she told me she was letting some hairs grow in as well and what would happen with my future treatments. I got a little goodie bag as well for my first time being at the salon. Very attentive! I couldn't recommend her enough! If you want to get a great wax in a friendly and pleasant environment, you need to come here. read more

As a first time wax-ee i was super nervous especially being a plus size girl. I was lucky enough to book with Natalie and she eased my anxiety from the start. She was extremely professional and talked me through the whole process. During the appointment she was so easy to talk to that I barely focused on the discomfort. I should also say that when i arrived covid protocol was followed from that moment till i left. Very friendly staff who greeted me and explained all the packages available. I bought an amazing smelling scrub since my first appointment was 20% off. I also had such a good experience that I booked my next appointment right away. I have never felt the need to write a review for anywhere before until today and even questioned for the entire afternoon if it was worth it. Let me just say the receptionist needs to be talked to by a manager for the way she represents the company. she is one of the rudest people in customer service that I have ever come in contact with . I called this morning right after they opened to schedule an appointment and she answered sounding miserable to say the least, this was the 2nd time in the past 3 weeks I've called and had the same girl answer. She was extremely RUDE and clearly hates her job. I asked to speak with a manager and she would not connect me and stated that they were busy. I called back again just before 2pm to talk to a manager and the same girl answered. I'm sorry but something has to change here, very unprofessional and classless. I will be going some place else from now on. No matter how nice your waxing staff is, this is the first person you talk to on the phone and see when you come into the studio, really turns people away from wanting to give you business. I'm giving this two stars out of courtesy of my gf. She is too afraid to write a review because she's too nice but I feel it I necessary to be honest about her experience with this waxing site. She has been waxing for 5 years at a different wax location without issue. Last year we moved and this location was convenient for her. When they first opened they had some sort of package of 10 or 12 so she got it. For the last year she has broken out with bumps and had non stop ingrown hairs which she said were terribly painful. She tried different staff, spent over $100 on pre wax serums, scrubs, lotions, rollers, gloves, etc. and nothing helped. Every time she went she expressed that the bumps and ingrown hairs were not getting better and the waxers assured her that she just needed to exfoliate better. She scrubbed the hell out of her skin and applied a whole skin care routine to try to get it resolved. I told her to stop going there but because she didn't want to waste the package and she said the staff was nice and she fShe asked to cancel her membership and the staff told her that she could not do so. Two days ago she got a wax at her old location. Within 48 hours the bumps are almost gone and so far no ingrown hairs. Either the staff needs to be retrained or the wax is not conducive to all skin types. Working as a PA and in the medical field, I can say that the staff should have did a better job of helping to resolve her skin irritation or refunded her money. She was very unsatisfied with this establishment and others should be aware. read more
