Learned about Waxing the City from a few people and I've always wanted to visit. Today was my first Brazilian! I was a bit nervous, but Cerologist Lisa is also bit magical, and that cancelled my fear out. Not only is she highly skilled in the removal process, but she's a cool person and brilliant conversationalist. She's an expert at skin and hair care, and handled me with kid loves. I expected some pain, but this was much better than I assumed it would be. I'm hooked! The facility is ultra clean, every staff member is super nice and professional. The first timer discount is a solid incentive to give this salon a try! Club Orange has great perks, too, if you join. Honestly, Waxing the City exceeded all of my expectations and I can't wait to go back and see Lisa in August. Fatima is my waxer and we chit chatted while she cleaned me up. She was very professional and fast and I'm part of the loyalty program so I got the monthly program discount. Needless to say I will be returning. Overall great experience, I have visited many other locations and this one is just in line with other wax the city's! My treatment outcome was bad, and I will not be returning. Waxing the City in Sun Prairie is a very nicely put together chain with a lot of skin care products for sale. Everyone is very friendly, from the front desk person to the technicians. Clients can book appointments online, and walk in. Services are more expensive than at other places across the board, so I stopped in assuming this meant better quality service. (My normal place is 15% less on average for all treatments.) I have a big event coming up and was looking to spend a bit more to ensure I looked my best. First, the Front Desk person was sick with a cold, and not masking. In this type of customer service setting, no one should be coming in sick. A lot of moms and care givers come in and don't want our loved ones to get sick, and can't afford to be out sick ourselves. I had facial waxing and eyebrow tinting. (Side note, eyebrow waxing is a separate charge from whole face waxing. I think that's pretty absurd, but acknowledge that some other salons do this too.) My technicians were kind and talkative. Unfortunately they were unprepared for the tasks and require more training. My eyebrows have a nice long spread, with a natural arch. I had grown my eyebrows out for better shaping. My eyebrow technician took off the top layer above the eyebrow, which flattened my look and eliminated my arch. The underside closer to my brow where hair is normally removed and trimmed to shape that arch was left long and unruly. I now look a bit expressionless and like a man. Maybe that's a look others enjoy, and I get that, but this was not even close to my natural shape. The wax itself didn't hurt, burn, or feel bad. It also did not remove all of the hair on parts of my face, there's some thicker and fine hair remaining. Also, there's about a half inch patch of hair where one wax treatment stopped and the other began. At other places I visit, if you request chin and lip, the techs strip off that full "goatee" area without gaps. Usually techs also wax down to the lower eye lid level, about the height of your glasses arms would sit, this stopped higher than usual. Again, odd patches remain meaning I have to pay for another service elsewhere, or attempt to fix this myself. I had my eyelashes tinted, which is something I regularly have done every 6-7 weeks. In the years I have had this, I've never experienced intensely burning eyes. The *entire* treatment felt like I had rubbing alcohol dropped in my eyeballs. Blinding pain, and I'm lucky that at least today I can fully see. I had to wash my face off and use a giant tube of saline that was provided to flush out my eyes - which were shockingly bright red from the chemicals. As I walked out to pay and leave (yes, I still paid and tipped), the person at the desk said "oh how pretty", which to me was a way to mitigate the damage without providing a customer service solution. Hoping there's no permanent damage to my vision, my eyes are still dry and irritated today. The light in each room used for closeup face work must be great for techs, as it is the brightest I've ever seen. It is too bright for the client to actually see the work has been done properly. I recommend clients sit up and move the light to the side, to more clearly check the work that's been done. Technicians should have a ton of practice, as using chemicals on the face and eye area is very dangerous. I hope there is an internal review and staff undergoes serious training hours. Perhaps there should even be a sliding scale for the experience level of each technician, rather than one high price for all services across all skill levels. read more

I've been a member for years and always appreciate the services. The cerologists are professional and kind. If I can't get in to see Grace, I know I'll get expert service from any other the others. Plus the have cool products, but I never feel pushed into buying them! read more

My experience is with Katie and staff at the front desk. I started seeing Katie in February 2021 and I've been hooked since...she is professional, personable and efficient. I'm in and out but never feel rushed. She always checks in with my aftercare and not to just sell me something(although her product knowledge is vast as well). I'm part of club orange and appreciate the discount and have always had a good experience with the front desk staff, whether on the phone or in person. I don't need or want the whole bubbly fountain, essential oil, cucumber water spa experience for my wax. I want a clean, comfortable spot with good customer service that gets me in and out. My experiences receiving waxes (modified bikini, Brazilian, and brows) have been great. However, this review is primarily about my experience with their membership. The monthly membership allows you to pay for a service monthly, paying on the first or fifteenth of each month. You receive 20% off the monthly service, with other discounts as perks. I would not recommend getting the membership that pays on the fifteenth. I had my previous appointment on the 16th of the month. At the end, the person working at the desk helped me schedule my next appointment, for the fourteenth of the following month (four weeks later). I didn't think any more about it. Then I had my appointment on the fourteenth. While checking out, I noticed that I was being charged full price. Because my appointment was *one day* before my payment, and I had already used my service for the month, I had to pay full price. I didn't even get the 20% discount for the service, since I had already used it. While I certainly should have paid more attention when booking the next appointment, this is something that could easily have been flagged in the computer system so that the employee could have confirmed that I wanted a second service within the same "month" of my membership. This is basic customer service that can go a long way toward member satisfaction. I expect most members would rather postpone their service by a few days than pay full price, since the main draw of membership is the discount. I'll be canceling my membership and looking for a salon with better customer service. read more

I came here for my first ever Brazilian...at 30 weeks pregnant. While I've gotten my brows waxed, I was pretty nervous. My mind was eased by how clean and calm the lobby was when I arrived and C'ann greeted me. It was like coming to a spa. My wax was with Britt and she was wonderful! I was very surprised at how little it hurt (especially when pregnancy is supposed to make waxing more painful). Britt was professional but friendly, and I almost forgot to be self conscious. I've had horrible waxing experiences, but this place is amazing!! The customer service is excellent and my rep Brit was awesome. She did a great job on my brows! The location is clean and modern, very spacious. Check out the names of the products for a little giggle. The list of services is extensive. If I could highlight one thing about my visit it is the WAX they use! Their hard wax was excellent and I didn't even feel a thing when they did my brows with it. The redness was minimal and I was able to go about my day after the appointment. I was worried I'd leave with the horrid "wow! brow" but I'm pleasantly surprised and very pleased. They didn't get all of the hair off for my Brazilian. Kinda disappointed. At 65$ bit pricey and with tip comes close to $80. I usually go to European Wax. I'll go back to them. It's cheaper and she gets everything off. And is much faster like in 15mins. read more

You must be guarded when carrying on a conversation with Ashley. Anything you say might be construed as intimidation. I like your touch to me is a compliment to her something else. Just being honest about how you feel can get you booted. I've had 4 or 5 treatments from her and I had more problems after each one. its been two weeks since the last one and I'm still having problems. Don't expect to be able to reach out to them for help. They practically never respond. I tried for a week to cancel my membership and got no response until they decided to cancel me. Ashley told lies about me like I asked for a happy ending. That was completely false; it never happened. If there is someway of doing it; you would be wise to tape your sessions. read more

So! Let's talk Brazilians. Everyone gets them. Men, women, the differently classified, that quiet lady in your office... everyone. Let's not be shy in talking about them. I recently booked a resort beach vacation and it had me thinking maybe I should get a Brazilian wax after avoiding it for several years due to bad experiences with them. The appointments would be over an hour of torture and pain, and days of recovery from swelling, bumps, bleeding, and surface bruising. I was told by a waxer that I have a low pain tolerance and if I came in regularly, that the hair would come out easier. Well, I wasn't down with torturing myself once a month so I gave it up and did self grooming at home. Enter Waxing the City. I had been driving by this location ever since they opened, so they were the first location I thought of when I decided to try getting waxed again. After contacting corporate to make sure they didn't "double dip" their wax applicator sticks (so important for avoiding passing infections from client to client!) I made my appointment. Niki put me at ease and was so efficient in applying and um, ripping the wax off. Since I was so nervous she gave me little breaks in between applying wax strips, and allowed me to take a breath and breathe out at the same time she removed the wax. And, the entire appointment took less than 45 minutes. The best part is I just got home from my appointment and I have no swelling, irritation, bruising, or bloodiness. Amazing! I found this place by chance, but they have quickly become my waxing place of choice. As someone from northern Wisconsin, it's honestly still worth my time to drive down and visit the wonderful women here for any form of a wax. I've been going to WTC for over a year and a half, and have had such incredible service there. My first cerologist, Brit, was excellent, and I'm so looking forward to meeting my new one, Regan. I've already reviewed the cerologists though, and this review mostly goes out to the front desk staff, namely Sienna (I hope I got that right, I'm so sorry!). The women working the front desk are always so friendly and accommodating. I've worked customer service for almost a decade and they have it down to a science. Most of this can be thanks to Sienna. No matter what, she has this bright, bubbly personality and is one of the highlights of each of my visits to WTC. They are also very accommodating and understanding. I've had to reschedule day of or day before two months in a row now due to shark week or bronchitis. They have never made me feel bad or felt it was even the slightest inconvenience each time. Currently I live fairly close to sun prairie so it's hardly any trouble to get there, but will be moving across town soon. I would drive an hour to get to twc if needed because they are well worth it!!! Thank you!!! read more

I'm a guy and never thought I would want waxing services. A friend told me about their facial service where they do brows, ears, and nose. For years I used a trimmer, but always had a tickle in my nose afterwards and could never really get all the ear hair. He assured me that I would love it. And, he was right. Nikki was amazing! She was fun and made me feel right at home. It was pretty much pain free, and like my friend said, there is no tickle in my nose like after using a trimmer. I can officially say, "I'm a waxer!" I had an great! Experience here. The salon is nice, receptionist was amazing and my brows never looked better! I've been having issues with break outs and massive redness and puffiness from waxes.
